I was never going to be a Rhodes Scholar because I am British, but I did go to Oxford and I do know well 3 Rhodes scholars. So I would say that we were all privileged to be at Oxford and we all knew were privileged to be there.

Indeed You should very thankful getting to Oxford + Fully funded scholarship but my story is very different now being at age of 19 , i got an offer from KCL, Bristol, Leeds, QMUL however in no way that I can't afford to cover the whole tuition expanses as if my mom is just shop owner , even if I worked on Restaurants as part time work still I will not be gaining even nearly money to cover such skyrocketing fees of £17,000 .

When I was a kid in Vancouver (BC) in the late 1970s, a (Chinese) undergraduate at the University of British Columbia made national headlines by winning a Rhodes. He joins the ranks of of Bill Clinton, Kris Kristofferson, Canadian actor Robert Joy and broadcaster Faith Salie.

I consider myself in some complex and complicated way of thinking that I "won" just for applying to the Rhodes at a time when my University had interfered with my education and goals and interests. I've always wondered what might have happened if I had pushed full speed ahead in "my direction". But I applied for the scholarship despite the intervention of my University and I have to be happy about something. The Guidelines Rhodes provides make sense. I'm not suggesting a checklist but maybe you might want to do a bit less charity work and more working on your athletics and physical abilities. The big advice you get with education is study... study... read... read... learn... learn... but there is so much more to life and Rhodes embodies this. And what if I had won a Rhodes?

Rhodes was a terrible man and the way this program is set up, it favors students of expensive universities who come from wealthier backgrounds, which is likely how Mr R would have wanted it anyway tbh

I came into college late because of my personal life issues. But I became a successful student later on with 3.9 gpa and extracurricular activities. But due to coming to college late I am 31. Is it still eligible for me to apply.

The people who weaseled their way into administering the Rhodes scholarship have completely betrayed Cecil, academia, western civilization and indeed the whole world. Rhodes understood that western advancement bettered every other civilization as well, now the scholarship advances only degeneracy.
All the major independent STEM employers know it too, it has become a huge red flag to bear that credential on your record. Though it's the same with nearly all university qualifications now, they only guarantee incurable ineptitude. This is your new life on "progressivism".
