I am Japanese and I would like to share some info. XG is a Japanese girls group debuted from global entertainment production "XGALX" (pronounced as "x-galax"). XGALX is a project started by Avex (Japanese entertainment company) in 2018. It is true that Hikaru from Kep1er used to be in this project and practiced with them together but if Hikaru was supposed to debut with them or not, and if she would join XG after Kep1er are unknown. KPOP has to be aware of this group, as XG's development team was so smart to produce their debut song, in English! To appeal to a wider audience! One aspect that is immediately obvious from this group is that they are visually different. Even more so when compare to the usual Korean girl group. That's why you looks confused at first if they are asian ( apart from some members who has more typical asian face ). If you follow Japanese group more and more you will realise that each band look quite distinct and that's only because the beauty standard in Japan is much less unified than Korean. I've been saying this for long time , but k-pop always or tends to go for certain looks OR certain style/make up which make the members look very very similar. You will get this perfect beautiful triangle face very pale skin almost of the time. And since K-pop is the most popular entertainment industry coming out of Asia right now, it set certain perception to the world of how asian look is like which is not always true.
When I watched their MV on debut day, I was immediately impressed with their very mature concept. They are all fantastic dancers with incredible stage presence and visuals. The song is understated and sexy, but does not display much vocal range. So I am intrigued--I'm not sure if they can do more than what they've shown so far in this MV. But I hope that they are the entire package. Since they sang/rapped in English, I am curious if they can sing/rap in Korean? Anyways, I am interested enough in them to follow them to find out how they develop. I am hopeful.

Avex is a very well known company. Porbably combination of their revenue domestically only in Japan earn more than the big 3 in South Korean. Thus, Japan is still the 2nd biggest music in the world. Avex has a very well known Avex Dance Academy. They are very good.... Bloody good. Seoul is a cultural center for all Asian Music. Everyone can watch the music show on any platform unlike in Japan. Japan broadcast is very strict with the regional thingy. I believe what XGALX and Simon plan is to reverse their promotion.. K-Pop group usually will go to Japan to have Japan debut a year or 2 later once they debut globally in Seoul. Debut and based in Seoul, get fan based not only in South Korea but all over the world with the network and broadcast which will broadcast globally (and South Korea decide to lift the banning of Japanese content in South Korea). But XG’s company is “XGALX”, Those are nothing to be related and perfectly deferent company. So many foreign people miss understand it. XG hasn’t collaborated with YG. Many other country people said YG and Avex are collaborating, but this is incorrect information. And already YG had officially announcement make denial of relation.
XG is a group that was created through systematic efforts through a global project spanning over 5 years. The group consists of Japanese members who practiced in Korea with the K-pop system and set global goals with English songs. XG Executive Producer Jakops (Junho Park) debuted as a singer in Korea and has been engaged in Kpop as a producer and composer for over 13 years. Avex is a very well known company. Porbably combination of their revenue domestically only in Japan earn more than the big 3 in South Korean. Thus, Japan is still the 2nd biggest music in the world.
Avex has a very well known Avex Dance Academy. They are very good.... Bloody good.
Seoul is a cultural center for all Asian Music. Everyone can watch the music show on any platform unlike in Japan. Japan broadcast is very strict with the regional thingy.
I believe what XGALX and Simon plan is to reverse their promotion..
K-Pop group usually will go to Japan to have Japan debut a year or 2 later once they debut globally in Seoul.
Debut and based in Seoul, get fan based not only in South Korea but all over the world with the network and broadcast which will broadcast globally (and South Korea decide to lift the banning of Japanese content in South Korea). At the same time, Avex did a heavy promotion XG gonna debut in Seoul. Basically going 2 birds with one stone method.
Which is a smart move I believe... Of course there will be hurdles such as xenophobe, racial, patriotism going on... They are targetgging the millennials and Gen Z which has no affect on it.
Even American musician come and perform on Korean Music Shows...
