This is a GEM!.... Nada Surf probably one of the most undarrated 90s bands.... good thing they're still out there. Listening to this in quararantine July 2020... who else??
Losing his lyrics sheet on the last verse of "Popular" was perfect. Looks over, looks worried, nails the verse anyway, kicks over the stand before the chorus. I used to play the hell out of this record in middle school and just came across it today. Great set. Thanks for posting!
Wow, watching this and I am getting ready to state a possible heresy: Nada Surf was the logical follow-up to Nirvana. It is a pity that their label wanted them to keep releasing "Popular" in different guises. Their label should have allowed them to release stuff like this! I understand why they said, "Fuck you" and walked away. This stuff is crazy good!
I'd like to hear more of your thoughts on the subject cause I'm interested in the idea of them being a good Nirvana follow up (there were so many great alternative bands that got screwed by their labels and prevented from reaching their potential)
So surreallistic when the singer Matthew Caws puts his glasses on and takes a music stand (as what a band should do while playing his first gig in a ballroom) to read his own lyrics on what will became one of the most powerfull rock song of the 90's : Popular. This is History ! This is pure rock legend !
they were amazing... who knows where they would be now... but never Weezer. Rivers crushes every bit of this, and still does... I wish nada was still here
Thanks for answering. Good channel! :) Nada Surf also had shows with Local H that year which is also partly why i was asking. It's fascinating because Nada Surf took off months after this in Europe, so ir's an early show/setlist in a way.
Everything they ever did was great, and as a band, they only got better better. But Let Go is my personal favorite. The new one this last year is excellent too. I would buy Nada Surf releases chronologically.
This captures Nada Surf at their peak, High low is the soundtrack of my teenage years. Still listen to it very regularly.

@@gsutherland3614 HA. They're still a band putting out good albums and touring regularly.
Well their first album could be compared more to Sonic Youth than any other band. After their first album, I really didn’t care lol
Ummmm fuck yes
Where did you find this video?? It's 21 years old!
Zach Bogley I filmed it 21 years ago
FatElvisRecords thank you for uploading it. Stuff like this is so rare

They made a lot of noise as a 3 piece and yes the Plan is the best song ever made
Setlist anyone?
alt-rock guys don't look like grunge rockers. a little preppy/hipster maybe. lead singer was cute, too
He still is. Older, yes. But still cute.
