For an $800 "70 class" card (which is actually a rebaged 4060).
Its obvious from the PCB quality (time stamp 3:15) that cheap components have been used. Ive seen these components used on 3060s, this is quite litteraly 60 class card build quality for $800, yeesh.
The memory bus is also the same as a tradtional 60 class card which is 192bit. A true 70 class card has a 256bit memory bus. You canm tell this from the lack of 2 memory chips on the PCB.
To think Nvidia had the guts to initially call this a "4080 12Gb" is beyond me.

For some technical details, a typical "70 class" Nvidia card has a 256-bit memory bus, this "4070 ti" has a 192 bit memory bus whcih is the same as a "60 class" card. This "4070 ti" is actually a 60 class card and should cost 60 class money, not $800.
Still makes me chuckel to think they intended to sell this same card as a "4080 12Gb".
The PCB quality of this card is identiacal to that of 3060. The components used are cheap 'A dime a dosen' through hole components. This card is designed with the intent of being cheap to manufacture, very cheap.
Nvidia knew that If they releached this card as a 4060 for 60 class money it would kill the 30 series completley, so they jacked up the price.

@@P2PC I mean, does the 192 bit memory even matter when the performance is good for a 70 class GPU? They always offered the performance from previous generation's flagship - the 1070 had 980 Ti performance, 2070 Super had 1080 Ti performance, 3070 had 2080 Ti performance and now the 4070 Ti has 3090 Ti performance.
Obviously the 4070 Ti should be cheaper and its 12GB 192 bit memory is not that good for 4K, but for 1440p it's a beast performance wise and it's not something I would ever expect from a 4060 like you said.

But I also heard that although it's great at DirectX 12 games, it originally lacked older game performance, but has apparently been fixed with recent drivers. So seeing how the Intel ARC A770 16gb runs the most popular games in steam NOW, with the latest drivers & firmware, would be REALLY interesting as, on paper, this GPU has a higher hardware spec than other cards costing hundreds of $ more!

Anyway, the graphics were pretty good and I figured I would get a new Graphics card when it was slow, then the industry dropped AGP like a hot potato covered in vaseline. The only upgrade I could get was from ATi. Thank goodness for that one single choice for a reasonably modern GPU. But yeah future proofing is a lie. Futureproofing PCs is kinda ... well... almost moronic ESPECIALLY when it comes to GPUs! Why? Well GPUs advance so fast that the games really can't keep up these days. You actually just kinda proved that point with the RTX 4070 ti - where the question should also be - why spend 2000-ish $ on some overengineered 4090 variant - when you can get this card for 800?
What people seem to forget is that most games are made for the mid and low range. Why? Well it WOULD be kinda stupid to limit the amount of people who can play your game and get a full experience. Usually the "extreme" are just some extra "shine" - which often doesn't actually improve the visual inputs you get when gaming - which is why most pro gamers turn off a lot of the details. (that and the higher FPS) This is not a new thing - we used to do this in competitive Quake 2 and 3. - Back to the point... At the point where a card like the RX 6700 XT becomes too slow - you can more than likely get something which curbstomps the 4070 TI - for a combined less than it would have cost to buy the 4070 TI to begin with. Also the RX 6700 XT would still carry some value - you could sell it, put it in a secondary/guest PC - or just have it around as replacement parts if your main card should fail...
And also - if you are already going for this price point - then why not go with a 7900 XT for 100$ more? It's a better card - if you don't like grainy DLSS Vaseline lens graphics. LOL

I looked at a 4070 ti, I own a 3070 non ti. considering a 1070ti was about £350 the £850 for a 4070ti is joke and no point will i ever pay that. This is where PC gaming ends for me. It's too much far far far to much. 4070ti is a mid tier card couple with a mid tier CPU and mid tier ram so it should have a mid tier price. Complete build should be around £849 for a pc not £849 just for the GPU.

The only real reason you'd buy such a powerful GPU is to play really graphically demanding (and honestly unoptimized as fuck) AAA games, future-proofing, or to play competitive titles with as many frames as possible. Although the last point is kind of irrelevant since by dropping some settings to High/Medium you can saturate most high frame rate low/lower resolution monitors. Aw and VR is a thing so for that reason as well. Maybe bragging rights but that's stupid, and at that point, you'd buy a 4090.

@@panterbv First of don't get me wrong I'm not trying to attack you or the guy above that bought a 4070ti.
Nvidia's first consumer GPU with over 6GB of VRAM was the GTX Titan X and it had 12GB it released 8 years ago.
I can guarantee you that with most modern games not being produced for the PS4 and XBOX One that VRAM usage is only going to go up and its already at a point were 8GB VRAM is not enough for anything above 1440p medium settings no RT in new games.
Hogwarts Legacy needs close to 12gb at 1440p medium settings and RT on, for The Last Of Us Part 1 its about the same. And you could now go and blame it on optimization but that's only partly the case, Hogwarts Legacy has gotten many patches improving performance but VRAM usage stayed the same, The Last Of Us Part 1 as well.
To say "Thats what they said 10 years ago for 8GB of Vram" is factually wrong because there were like 2 GPU's on the market at that time with 8GB VRAM and they were meant for consumers, and it was said by idiots that think "I will buy the GPU with more raw performance but less VRAM it has to be better" and a 3 year old GPU (RX 6800XT) is killing the 4070ti its almost half the price and it performs at around 86% of the 407ti (except Raytracing, which imo is a bad feature) and on top of that it has more VRAM making it already outperform the 4070ti in some games. And I know you also get DLSS 3 with the 4070ti but that won't help much if its not a performance issue but a lack of VRAM, I tried playing Hogwarts Legacy with my 2070 super at 3440x1440p on medium to low settings, I had VRAM issues and instead of feeling like I'm playing at 70fps with DLSS it felt like 30fps because of the micro stutters caused from not having enough VRAM.

I've bought a brand new _XFX Merc Black rx6750xt_ in June 2022 for 599€ instead of an used ugly 2 fans zotac rtx3070 for ~680€. It was already beating a 3070 out of the box with 22.5.1 drivers, but today i gained about 4-5% total improvement with all the drivers updates (now on 23.2.1). Even the best rtx3070 gets demolished now, but i decided to mildly undervolt at 1152mV and oc my card to 2823MHz (core) and 2312MHz (vram). Memory it's maxed out but I can go to 2950MHz on core with a waterblock: the black series from xfx have only best of the best silicon quality dies.
Now i beat an rtx3070 oc'ed at 2100MHz in dx12, 2%-3% more avg fps than an strix rtx3070ti in dx11... but in dx10, dx9, vulkan and games where s.a.m. it's fully utilized (FH5) i basically have an rx6800/rtx3080-10GB.
Nvidia can go to hell, it's my 1st red card and i love to play 1440p@144Hz very high detail with it! Absolute monster with insane cooling performance (25-26C idle / 60C intense gaming / 52-55C comp titles) i only "need" to use FSR2 in cyberpunk to go from 85avg to 120avg, i don't like and never used RT and i still play raster3D. Unaudible coil whine and fans never over 50% speed 😎
The _powercolor red devil rx6700xt_ also can obtain insane oc results: my apex mate has it and it's a bit below my results with his ~2850MHz oc. Navi22 POWA 🔥
edit: gamers must grab rx6700xt/6750xt and tune them, with 2023 drivers we have AV1 encoding/decoding support and streaming it's not an issue anymore.

The 4070ti might be faster than my 3090 but that only 12gb of vram just isn't enough. Once your card runs out of vram then performance drops like a rock and the game becomes a slide show.

Can we get a similar look at very demanding games by comparison.
You joke, but I 100% bought a 4080 for 144hz1080p gaming because modern PC launches are absolutely fucking abysmal, and I don't regret it at all.

Same, I had the GTX 1080 and upgraded to the 4070 Ti and its amazing for 1440p / High refresh rates and can dab a little into 4k. For 799 cant beat that. 4080 cost 1,200 or more and the performance difference isnt worth that

I think the reason they are such popular games on steam is because they run on a clearblue pregnancy test at 1080p. if everyone had 3070s or better they would play more demanding games at1440p or higher. I have a 2070 laptop and play modern AAA games at over 100pfs at medium settings on a 1440p monitor, When I upgrade to a proper tower id want to have a system that can run all the games i want to play at 4k with 1% lows around the monitors refresh rates for the smoothest possible gaming.
still a great video showing how stupidly powerful the newest bunch of graphics cards are.

You should have got the 8K TV out to see if the frame rates end up dropping substantially at that resolution.

Technology has advanced so rapidly throughout the decades that microchips are much smaller and better than what they used to be

Yeah there's no point getting the 4080. At that point may as well stretch to the 4090 lol. I like the 4070ti it's just a shame it's overpriced.
