everytime I experience hair fall, I immediately start taking a supplement that contains 1050 mg silica + biotin+ zinc. It literally costs 6€ and my hairfall usually stops after a few days. I take it for a month straight. I‘m writing from Austria, so I don‘t know if you have anything like this in Canada

I am watching this video and I can literally hear pain through the phone. I know what you have been going through with both hair and skin because I have same conditions, and I know what it feels like when it is like nothing helps and there is always something new! Fingers crossed it is something temporary and it does not continue. Sending you lots of love ❤

GIRL, you’re not alone! Started losing so much hair in the beginning of April and have lost 50% of my hair is not more. I had Covid and the flu probably two months apart, starting losing about 2 months after. Consistently shedding. Hate fixing my hair - but started taking nutrafol almost two weeks ago because it was most recommended to me too. It really helps knowing we are here going through it too. Shower days are the hardest for me, I seem to lose so much and honestly surprised I still have hair on my head. Love you and we will get through this ❤️

I had major hair loss after covid for a few months, it would come out in handfuls in my daily showers. i took 'new nordic- hair gro' pills and used the ordinary hair serum religiously. Helped a lot! This regime helped get me back to where it was before in 3-4 months.

Hi Melissa. I too did lose a lot of hair after covid. That was two years ago.
It has since stopped. It did take like 6 months for me to notice a reduction in hair loss. Key things i did. Natural juices made at home: kale, kiwi, pineapple, and orange juice. I increased my eating. Being underweight does not help hair growth. When i cut out a lot of food in college, i lost a lot of hair. So, i made sure to eat a lot of meat, beans, spinach, and dairy(milk and cheese). I tried to eat these foods mentioned daily. My hair got so strong and thick, i had girls asking me what i did at the gas station lol. Try it. I, too, was having bad days worrying about my hair. ❤

I lost 50% of my hair after I had a rough battle with mono for 3 weeks. My doctor said my body went through so much stress from battling the illness that it essentially shocked my system. I used olaplex religiously and my hair is now back to full density after 2 years of regrowth. Hang in there!!! It’ll come back I promise :)

Highly recommend taking a silica supplement. A couple of years ago I had suffered a big hair loss. Lost half of my hair which was devastating. I was loosing hand fulls every time I showered. I switched to a natural shampoo, increased my iron and vitamin D intake and started taking silica. Silica was key in growing my hair back. Highly recommend looking into it. My hair has since all grown back even more than before. I have neck pains from how heavy it is now 😅. when I shower theres almost no hair in the drain. My mom suffered from hair loss too and I put her on silica and she doesn’t shed hair anymore. Silica is also great for collagen formation. I also have PCOS which can be associated with hair loss.

I have TF and Androgenetic Alopecia. Stress was the factor that triggered the TF.I have been taking Nutrafol for a year but it wasn't strong enough to retain my baby hairs. It's been < 2 years so it appears my hair shedding slowed down. After washing and blow drying my hair every other day, I massage coconut and peppermint oils to my scalp and ends. I saw my dermatologist for a follow-up and he prescribed finasteride pills along with my minoxidil pills. I'll wait after doing 2 more sessions of acupuncture before trying finasteride. I wish you and others on this hard journey to wellness.

I lost about half my hair due to low ferritin! It was more around the borders of my hairline, a ferritin infusion helped a ton, once your levels get so low infusions are the best! I also have lean PCOS, I highly recommend lots of protein from animal products, I haven’t needed anymore infusions for a long time. Wishing you the best Melissa!

The fact that SO many women seem to be dealing with this right now seems like it is a post viral covid thing. The same thing is happening to me and all my labs are normal. It can be hard to make the connection to Covid because some people never even test positive for Covid and the hair loss starts 3-4 months later.

I turned 40 during pandemic (never had covid) and one day I was showering and I kept seeing huge huge chunks of hair falling out in the shower. I'm 43 now. I learned that when you get older you just lose hair. I thought it was my shampoo or hair dye or whatever. I was like you finding things to blame or reason why this is happening. I lost about 40% of hair in the top of my head. I have fine hair and a lot. Back in the day when I wake up my hair was so high volume I had to use so much product to tame it. Nowadays I don't do anything . Im not bald, I just don't have volume anymore. I doubt its a covid thing girl. Don't make excuses. It's just part of aging bc I feel like you're trying to find a reason thinking there will be a solution to reverse it. You can't reverse aging. just deal with it.

Yes it would be as starts well after covid. Mine went in clumps after serious post covid as asthmatic. It has just put a spurt on after 3 years and is now linger again. I take a multivitamin for a couple of pounds every night. My hair is thin but at least no bald bits or anything. I was devastated but thankful it s back. I m 63 half and leave my hair be and do dye it but less than before just let it grow without running to haidressers..

I’m so sorry you are doing through this 😢 I’ve been on a hair loss journey since 2020, it sucks. My hair has always been very fine, and getting covid and stressing out over everything for the past few years made it worst. I lost so much confidence and just very sad when I look into the mirror. I’ve tried many things like red light therapy, hair growth treatments, and supplements, and nothing works.
But recently ive been using men’s hair loss shampoo, it contains caffeine. Seems like it’s been working. Maybe you can try that in the future. I do hope you get better soon, I love watching your videos and contents.

I can say that I shed all day every day. I had gastric bypass last year in Feb, and a major side effect is hair loss. I have not lost more than normal amounts of hair, even though it seems like it to me. I also am anemic. Your loss seems large to you, because you are super conscious of it already. 😉 get 80 plus grams of protein a day. And a multi vitamin. Hope your doc helps alleviate your worries and your supplements help.

I would start by ensuring you're getting the right amount of vitamin D, Zinc, Biotin and Omega 3s to start (I'm not a doctor but been through similar situations!). There is a great Andrew Huberman podcast on hair and hair regrowth - check it out. Also, explore minoxidil 2.5% for women but keep in mind this is a long-term commitment if you choose to apply it topically. Stress is a big factor which can be tough to pinpoint but do your best to check out every day and meditate or relax despite life's rollercoaster. I have read that some women experience hair loss from various toxins (often related to surgery, botox, foreign chemicals in the body, etc.). Keep exercising and eating extremely healthy while you get sorted and good luck - it's temporary!

Hi, I’m here to hopefully shed some light on the hair loss.
Wait until your blood work to start any supplements: which you’ve already taken. So it could throw off your “normal” levels prior to your blood tests.
I have iron deficiency (my Ferritin was an 11 last I checked, which needs to be MUCH higher) and I was deficient in Vitamin D.
Two of which will most likely cause hair shedding.
When I don’t take my iron… my hair will look exactly like yours with the amount of shedding. I also had covid and about 2 months post covid I had shedding as well that ONLY lasted about a month.
Stress - can also cause hair shedding but your labs should show honestly my guess is low iron. Or just a post trauma reaction to a sickness you had. It should resolve!!!
(You also don’t wanna take iron if you aren’t low. Too much can make you sick!)
So what I do to help it:
TAKE MY IRON (if you are low find a good one)
    Take my vitamin d.
I also used Hair, Skin & Nail gummy’s for a few months and that I swore helped. Which is basically just BIOTIN! So try that too!
I hope this helped and your labs give you clear answers!!! ❤

I have been your fan for a long time. I have seen your hair journey forever, so I feel your pain. I have recently went through loosing so much blood due to having a sys in my uterus, ended up having a hysterectomy. Prior to that I lost SO MUCH hair for a few years, same amount that you showed. I freaked out big time, but I have so much hair I didn’t worry so much, but ended up loosing half of my hair. After the surgery, I stopped bleeding, so it took 6+ month to gain my hair. Definitely take iron supplement, but with that you need to get vitamin c (You would probably know that by studying nutrition) and no caffeine with Iron supplement. I have tons of hair back and strongest nails ever which I have NEVER had in my life. Take all the tests you can and go from there. I would not do anything (extension etc) until you have your healthy hair back. I know you want to look best for what you do, but YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT!!!! You won’t loose any true fan here because of your hair. Sending you a big hug and lots of love to you!!!!! Xoxo

I've had the same issue before. For me it was because of stress, which caused a type of dermatitis, internal inflammation and also made me lose my period. That gave me hair and period issues for around 4 years. Generally any form of heavy stress on your body can cause hair shedding, because hair is technically dead and the body gets rid of it first. But I can tell you the Ordinary density serum worked! Also for me it helped to wash it daily, the doctor told me it keeps the follicle's clean and that helps with the shedding. I also took Biotin, Zink and Folic Acid supplements. Now my hair has grown a lot and its doing great, but it took a while so I know the struggle. I used two brands named Tetesept and Kneipp, but they are European and you can generally buy them in Germany, Austria or Swiss. I hope my experience helps in anyway!

I think its best you see a reputable trichologist that can ask you these questions and run blood work. They'll be able to tell. Plus i use Monxidil 5% and LED cap for 25 mins.

Consider using henna on your hair once it has grown out, as it may not interact well with colored hair. I recommend trying the brand Light Mountain Henna & Conditioner, which I personally used back in 2020 to address a similar issue. This henna is organic and contains only four to five ingredients. I applied it every two weeks, and after two years, I began to notice positive results. While henna can leave your hair feeling dry, it's essential to oil your hair before each wash. Take inspiration from Indian hair care practices; they often have thick hair because they consistently nourish it with natural products. In addition to external care, consider taking vitamins to maintain healthy hair.

I have this and it's likely due to my ferritin levels - my level is 7 and I lose a significant amount of hair per day. But doing my best with taking iron pills + vitamin c for absorption on an empty stomach!!

I experienced hair-loss and receding hairline (on my temples) several months after getting off spironolactone. My derm said it was normal and that it would go back to normal eventually. She did recommend rogaine for men if it really bothered me. I decided to just focus on keeping a healthy lifestyle and stayed away from any additional supplements or topicals. After a couple months my hair is back to normal thickness wise and it is no longer receding near my temples.

When I lost weight before (in a pretty health way) I lost a lot of hair. I saw a doc and she said for some people the body just responds to stress with hair loss and it usually happens about 3 months after the stressful event. She ran a bunch of tests all were fine. The hair loss didn’t last too long, once I started maintaining my weight. Now whenever I need to protect my hair a bit more or respond to stress, I take the Olly gummies heavenly hair. It’s the only one that seems to help me, it contains keratin too.

I lost a shocking amount of hair about three months after having a temperature for a few days. The hair loss stopped after about a month or two and then I lost almost no hair for another month or two. My hair is back to its same thickness again quite quickly. Just wanted to give you some hope.

Omg so sorry this is happening!!! I’ve had severe iron / feratin / hair loss issues since forever because of my period. My feratin used to be like 10 now it’s 45 and I use Feramax (you need a prescription though) and the best way to take it is after fasting like when you wake up or middle of the night if you go to the bathroom with a glass of orange juice and you can’t have food or coffee for at least 1.5 hours after taking it. This was life changing because I wasn’t taking my iron properly before and my body wasn’t absorbing it. Good luck ❤️❤️

I hope you are able to find a solution to your hair loss. I often try to have ground chia seeds and walnuts for the vitamin E, beets for folate, and a cabbage wedge for overall gut health.

Sorry to hear this Melissa! What a time. So as for iron with hormones, I was told to use Floridex iron liquid supplement (easy to take) since it won’t constipate you. If you have hormone stuff you want to make sure everything is getting out of the body.

Hey! I have been struggling with this thin hair problem for almost 10 years now... I am turning 29 soon. I always have been wondering if something is "wrong" with my health and causing this but my doctor does not seems worried at all and I did run some tests. My hair seems similar to you. It's thick in the scalp area but breaks off more and more as it gets long and the lenghts are ridiculously thin lol. I take a strand of hair and notice that almost no hair makes it to the longer lenght, its actually crazy! I am starting to wonder if it's just genetics and I should just accept it. I changed my products few times, took supplements, nothing really seems to work... Do you think it might just be our hair type that is more fragile and will always kind of be like this? I dont use heat at all and no chemicals either and those bastards still won't stay long. 😭😂 At some point I got so tired I cut them in a short bob. It was the healthiest looking back then but I dreak of having my hair long... The only thing that barely helped me is oiling my scalp and leave the oil in for an hour before I shampoo... But it pretty much always stay puffy and dry and falls off easily anywau... Sometimes I just wanna shave it. Ugh 🥲

    • @MelissaMerk
      @MelissaMerk  5 месяцев назад +1

For me I think it's partially genetic. My hair texture and thickness was much different when I was little so I also thing hormones and environment are factors. For a long time I thought my issue was breakage cause my hair doesn't grow past a certain length. Now I think it's a growth cycle/shedding problem

    • @nahoconnell
      @nahoconnell 4 месяца назад

@@MelissaMerk I see what you mean. I also thought it was breakage but maybe you are right and it's actually something else... Will definitely stay tuned and I hope you will figure it out cause it is annoying... Have you seen a hair specialist? When I was a child and teen my hair was muchhh thicker and shiny and full lenght so theres definitely been a major change for me too since I am in my twenties, that's why I find it so odd and even was scared at some point.
