I've got one 18" Sundown Audio U-series in a 4 cubic ft. ported box (driver facing up, port toward back in a hatchback). Powered by a MMATS Hifi 4250, 4ohms to each bridged channel (4-channel amp) for 1,600 watts RMS and it DROPS QUAD! Kenwood DSP head unit, SKAR RP75.4 powering Dayton Audio 7" Reference series midbass (paper cone version) and Dayton Audio Reference aluminum dome tweeters. KnuKoncepts cables, wire
and interconnects (2awg primary into fused distro, then short run of 4awg to amps, 48sq. ft. of 80mil Killmat throughout car, including roof. Awesome budget system, focused on SQ, but gets plenty loud too. All in a $500 Hyundai beater!
I would deaden the all holy hell out of the lid and some in the entire trunk area...huge difference

I have a U18 in my 05 Impala SS in a sub up/port back configuration on a Sia3500. It gets loud and low. I have a 6" aero port and have it right near the rear of the vehicle. The box is 4cuft tuned to 32hz.
I thought rear-firing port and subs is the loudest for trunks?

Really depends. I’ve seen a lot being louder firing into the drivers side like this guys got or walling off and firing into cabin
I think it would be hard to fit a rear-firing 18" sub box in a trunk like that.
@@jimjones3287 likely only way if the height is there would be building the box into the trunk. I personally won’t do this bc I tend to swap and move stuff around a lot system wise 😂
@@scottbe1 I think the 18" is just for bragging rights. I wouldn't do this either. Can probably hit better with two 12's in that trunk.
make an infinite baffle with 2 18s. Use the entire trunk for your speaker box and get 8000 wats to those subs

I like 18 inch subs. I ran a platinum 18 on 4k and it bumped...
What impedance was the subwoofer wired to, @ the amp? Did you ever have this clamped= ✔️ for actual power, after impedance rise, and voltage drop?
I always wondered why the port was not facing into the cabin.
Not always most optimal I was louder sub and port back than both firing into the front. See a lot of builds firing into the drivers side sub forward and it being loudest. All depends on car
Forward facing, side driver pocket. Most of time. Or both speakers and port backwards. Speakers backwards port through rear deck. In between the 6x9s
Gotta make it work for it or it won't breath as well i.e. less boom boom
Since this Jp23 is wired @ 1 ohm, after rise if its dropping to 12volts= approx. 1k, if dropping to 13volts= approx. 1.2k, and if they can maintain 14volts= approx. 1.4k watts. Being a stock alt, im assuming dropping to 12volts, so 1k= this subwoofers rating, so its a good match, for longevity, if clipping is kept in ✔️?
Bro what? Rise aka impedance/box rise is the increase in ohm / impedance and has nothing to do with voltage.
If a sub is wired to 1 ohm in a ported box that’s only the resistance.(DC)
impedance changes (AC) that sub might only be close to 1 ohm at tuning and around . Which it at best is at 1.4ohm at tuning.
All other frequencies are much higher.
What you are talking about is Voltage. If the amp is rated at 14.4v it will put out the same power at 12v .. just clipped.
The amp is underrated so it probably does 1400rms at 12.2v
@@abelscaliber7969You misunderstood what im saying. I was saying that wired to 1 ohm, while playing music, the impedance would prob. @ (best) only go to 2 ohms, and @ worst prob. to 5 ohms? The Jp amp does about 1,400 watts @ 2 ohms, and @ 14 volts, on an amp dyno. The system in this video, has a stock alt., so i was giving examples of poss. wattage, as the voltage drops. And your wrong like soo many others, that an amp clips, just because the voltage is lower, they do not! An amp clips, because of being overdriven, and this can happen @ any impedance, or any voltage! Say an amp pulls 100 amps, @ 1 ohm, @ 12 volts, on an amp dyno, In certified mode= not to clipping, and is 70% eff. @ the 1 ohm load. Math= 100 (A) X 12 (V) X .7 (amp. Eff.)= 840 watts. If this same amp, and test were done, but the voltage was 16 volts, it would produce 1120 watts clean. An amplifier can clip @ 18 volts, 16 volts, 14 volts, 12 volts, 10 volts= @ any voltage!
Both of you are somewhat rt .. box rise , voltage, and damping all play a roll . I happen to own the jp 23 v2 and My box builder did a skar 15 for a guy .. it did a 146.9 @ 1392w . Wired to 1 ohm on music.. so yeah your estimates not too far off real world numbers
