    Great video. My 3 year old got his cast wet after her got a hole in the bag. I had allowed him to finally take a bath. We aren’t back at home in the US. I blow dried it but idk how much it got wet. Any tips? Will blow drying it often and a lot be ok until next Monday when we are back home? I’m am worried but I don’t know the medical system here in the country I am visiting.

      @@OrchidFanAddict ...thank you very much for viewing and for the question as well. I'm sorry to hear that it got wet, here's some tips until you get back home & to your provider:
      1. Yes, blow drying with cool air will help, & repeating is fine as long as it doesn't overheat & cause secondary problems.
      2. Run your finger inside the edges to check for dampness or moisture.
      3. If a significant pungent odor of moisture is present, then the cast must get changed sooner than later.
      4. Lastly, upon return home, notify your provider either way for further instructions.
      I really hope that this helps a little, & good luck, sincerely woodie 👍🏼

      @@orthopedicbasicswwoodie1097 thank you so much! You have no idea how much your response means to me. I have been googling like a maniac. The edges were very damp initially but not anymore after blow drying. I stuck my finger and I no longer feel any wetness but I worry about the area further in the cast where my finger doesn’t reach. My fear is what I read online of an infection starting although he doesn’t have an open wound. He has a cast that goes up above the elbow due to two toros fractures. He’s supposed to have it for 3 weeks total and he’s only has had it for 1.5 weeks thus far. Life with kids is not easy. Thank you once again and I’ll hope for the best in the meantime.

      @@OrchidFanAddict ...I agree that the chance of infection is less w/o an open wound or incision beneath the cast. If your running your fingers as far as they reach & it feels dryer, this is a good sign. With a long arm cast, there is a possibility of a little water collecting at the bend of the elbow. Blowing cool air specifically down the back side of the cast, where the triceps are, down towards the elbow may also help as well... Always here to help, sincerely woodie

    Is 53 days enough for a double fracture to heal? The doctor gave me an appointment next week and my arm still hurt a bit he put me on a long fiberglass cast for 53 days and i think that my bones had already healed but why does it still feel stiff and hurts sorry for my bad english

      Deadwalker- thank you very much for viewing and for the question as well. Six weeks in a cast, for a mature long bone fracture is not uncommon. As for the continued discomfort, this is also to be expected and often the provider will prescribe a form of physical therapy or jone exercise program to help with the stiffness. Of course this is all dependent on the type of fracture, whether or not surgery was done, pre-existing conditions, the providers direction, and etc..., Wishing You a speedy & healthy recovery, sincerely woodie 🙂👍🏼

      Hi Braybray- thank you very much for viewing & the question as well, here you go;
      1. Contact your providers office 1st, they should have someone on-call, then they can instruct you from there.
      2. If that doesn't work out, then contact you nearest urgent care clinic or walk-in e/r, that has a cast saw handy & someone trained to use it.
      3. I hope that this helps, & if you are unsuccessful w/either 1 or 2, reply back & I'll walk you thru some other steps.., sincerely woodie 👍🏼
