thanks very much, you're a life saver! actually money saver, apple quoted me 550 gbp for their own #flexgate issue and i solved it with 250 replacement screen and 15$ tip for you :) keep up the good work
@@UbergeeksBiz Hello.. did the replacement. Checked and recheck everything is ok but the machine is not turning on. Battery inserted correctly...what could be the issue?
Apple had a replacement program they quietly released in 2019 from what i gathered at the apple store. You unit was still covered a year ago. They just ended that replacement program a few months ago. My unit started showing screen symptons a week ago but my camera went out in march when it was still covered. Wish i new it was #flexgate back then.
Quick comment for you. My kitten bit my laptop screen and broke it one night. Found this video and it was a life saver. Ordered a precision screwdriver kit from amazon and "for parts" laptop off eBay. Parts arrived today and a few hours later with the help of this video I have a new screen on my laptop! Love the video, could not have repaired my laptop without it. Thanks.
This is real computer repair lol. I am comfortable replacing laptop parts on just about any brand but most videos you watch, they edit out the mistakes. This one really highlights what you might go through. I love the honest repair here
I wish all tutorials were as clear and step-by-step as this one. You described and displayed the repair perfectly, and even me, a novice with a new set of Apple tools, could follow it successfully. The only problem I had was in sliding the back plate off after taking the first screws out and un-clicking the side fasteners-which was a disheartening way to start! It would NOT slide easily, it wouldn't even move, and I had to force it much, much harder than I wanted to. But it finally gave, and then popped off easily. I also had problems sliding it back on, and re-seating it correctly. But the inside repair? Went smoothly step-by-step.
Yeah, Apple sure doesn't want anyone inside "their" equipment. Their use of numerous different screws and security screws just to make things difficult is a perfect example. For example, the use of a proprietary triangular screwdriver to secure just the battery in certain models. A more honorable manufacturer would use standard Phillips head screws.
Great video!! I watched it a few times and felt very confident in peeling off the vital parts of my laptop. The biggest and most challenging portion was removal of the tiny speck-like screws. These were easy to strip, so be careful. But to the video producer, this was a fantastic tutorial that explained things perfectly. As others mentioned, huge cost savings by doing the job yourself--and with the right tools and patience--this is a job you can do yourself.
Excellent video. Ironically, watched without audio (sorry) and had the SAME fault of the video cables wanting to be on both sides of the display. Your procedure worked like a champ. Thanks so much for posting.
Like everyone else here I must thank you for creating this clear guide. With your help I was able to successfully replace the display of the 1708. I also seem to hear either Malaysian or Singaporean accent. Given the rooster we can hear in the background midway through, I guess Malaysia, since Singapore has hardly space for chickens. Thanks again and all best!
Excellent tutorial, I completed the replacement of the screen in a couple of hours, since I had to run to Home Depot for a better quality set of precision screwdrivers. Pentalobe 0.8 from the kits you recommended damaged some of the little screws of the wi-fi, other than that it was a very smooth process. Thanks so much!
Excellent video... I like how you kept it in real time, even when having a hard time putting the screen on and also with the screws. This just lets us know how long it really takes and gives us the option to skip forward if we wanted to. Thank you!
Thank you very much, I was finally able to remove the small wifi antenna screws with the help of a watchmaker and could then follow your tutorial successfully step by step to the end. The Mac is now ok.
I noticed you added a note on the Tool Kits in the description. Are the links updated now or do they still need the 0.8 pentalobe screwdriver? Thank You !
Thanks for the video, followed step by step and have now resurrected a MacBook Pro that destined for the tip. Only suggestion would be to have a tool list at the start so once started, the job can be completed without another trip for specialist tools. Cheers!
Thank you very much for your help, Great video and good point about screws on wifi antenna I striped 2 it was a pain to take them out but you are great explaining each step!!!
All but two of the screws on the wifi antenna are stripped! I used the 0.8 bit and tried the rubber band trick - still no luck getting them out. I will try the super glue trick and maybe the rotary next. Do you know which screws to buy to replace?
Hey mate just completed a screen swap but my screen stays black no matter what. I hear the boot up charm and when I plug my laptop into hdmi it shows my screen on my tv but no my laptop display. Would you have any clue what step I should have another look at so I can try and fix this problem, thanks
Don’t worry, i fixed it. I will leave this up incase anyone else has my problem. The screen I was supplied had one of the connectors on one of the screen ribbon cables not connected on correctly. @ 12:36 on the left side, on the right of the mount there is a latched on piece that was not on correctly for me.

Hi thank you for this great video, I'm trying to fix mine with a new screen. Whitch screwdriver do you use to disconnect the battery and to take off the screws on the two first plastic brackets that hides the hinges. Thanks for the help and keep going!
Thank you so much for this. I have a 2016 MacBook Pro with a touch bar and though the interior was slightly different, I managed to successfully replace the screen using this video. I had one problem though - in your MacBook Pro there are two wires connected to the WiFi antenna that you have to press back in, but on mine there are three, and the middle wire wouldn't reconnect - I managed to damage the circular metal connection and I had to leave it unconnected. Do you know what the middle wire is and whether it matters if I didn't manage to reconnect it? The WiFi seems to work fine. Many thanks in advance if you know the answer.

I was able to replace my screen but the power isn't going on my Macbook Pro anymore, even plugged in. Any tips? I checked the battery connector multiple times and seems fine.
Is it possible to just replace the display cable instead of the entire display? My girlfriends MacBook screen does turn on (it's just black) but when plugged in to another video source you can see her screen. I suspected it may just be the cables. I found some display cables on fixit, but nobody shows how to repair just the cables. wondering if it's easy. any thoughts?
Great helpful video! Just one thing though: The toolsets you link to do not include the 0.8 Pentalobe driver necessary for removing those 12 screws holding the wifi covers. I've put my repair on hold for a few days while I wait for another toolset that has that driver. You might want to add another link to your description.
Hello, thanks for the instruction, it was very helpful After remounting the screen, I could start up the computer and use it. But then, I realize that the screen is flickering when I move it up or down. Do you have any advices on where to look?
