Apple had a replacement program they quietly released in 2019 from what i gathered at the apple store. You unit was still covered a year ago. They just ended that replacement program a few months ago. My unit started showing screen symptons a week ago but my camera went out in march when it was still covered. Wish i new it was #flexgate back then.

Quick comment for you. My kitten bit my laptop screen and broke it one night. Found this video and it was a life saver. Ordered a precision screwdriver kit from amazon and "for parts" laptop off eBay. Parts arrived today and a few hours later with the help of this video I have a new screen on my laptop! Love the video, could not have repaired my laptop without it. Thanks.

I wish all tutorials were as clear and step-by-step as this one. You described and displayed the repair perfectly, and even me, a novice with a new set of Apple tools, could follow it successfully. The only problem I had was in sliding the back plate off after taking the first screws out and un-clicking the side fasteners-which was a disheartening way to start! It would NOT slide easily, it wouldn't even move, and I had to force it much, much harder than I wanted to. But it finally gave, and then popped off easily. I also had problems sliding it back on, and re-seating it correctly. But the inside repair? Went smoothly step-by-step.

Yeah, Apple sure doesn't want anyone inside "their" equipment. Their use of numerous different screws and security screws just to make things difficult is a perfect example. For example, the use of a proprietary triangular screwdriver to secure just the battery in certain models. A more honorable manufacturer would use standard Phillips head screws.

Great video!! I watched it a few times and felt very confident in peeling off the vital parts of my laptop. The biggest and most challenging portion was removal of the tiny speck-like screws. These were easy to strip, so be careful. But to the video producer, this was a fantastic tutorial that explained things perfectly. As others mentioned, huge cost savings by doing the job yourself--and with the right tools and patience--this is a job you can do yourself.

Thank you so much for this. I have a 2016 MacBook Pro with a touch bar and though the interior was slightly different, I managed to successfully replace the screen using this video. I had one problem though - in your MacBook Pro there are two wires connected to the WiFi antenna that you have to press back in, but on mine there are three, and the middle wire wouldn't reconnect - I managed to damage the circular metal connection and I had to leave it unconnected. Do you know what the middle wire is and whether it matters if I didn't manage to reconnect it? The WiFi seems to work fine. Many thanks in advance if you know the answer.

I have a problem, the MacBook Pro A1708 (emc 2978) of my girlfriend is not working anymore, cause we spilled some beer on it. I wanted to transform the display into an external monitor, but I need the LCD model name to buy a proper controller board for it. I just spent the entire morning looking for it, I tear apart the screen from the main body but I cannot seems to find the model name on it. Online I am not finding what I am looking for if not the proper way to look for it, that is to write some kind of command on the MacBook, but as I said, mine is not working at all. So, by any chance, do you now what I am looking for, that is the proper name of the LCD model mounted on this particular MacBook? Thank you very much :)

Yeah, this is how you want your MacBook fixed -- especially with that Rooster crowing in the background, hilarious!

It would be nice if for all actions where screws have to be loosened to say which screwdriver should be used

Check the cables. If still no work, more likely they sold you a defective screen. Get a replacement

Thanks and after replacement, screen works but camera detected under system information every time battery connection is re-connected. Immediately after battery connection, photo booth and FaceTime shows blank black screen for the camera and when run those two again, it says “no video device.. and under system information, it says “no video capture devices were found”. No green light for the camera is visible.
Display assembly is exchanged after 1st one showing the same symptom.
Before replacement, with faulty screen, camera worked.
    MacOS is Monterey.
Any idea why camera only detects every time battery is re-connected and then lost detection after reboot/shutdown?
    Apple diagnostics shows error NDC001.
Please help to understand this and find the fix.

Maybe the screen has bad built in camera. If there is much additional cost, maybe best to get USB webcam as alternative,

Hello Ubergeeks, I had some trouble removing the Pentalobe P2 screws from the wifi antenna. I broke the notch on the screw head.
Now I can no longer remove the screws.Do you have a solution despite this, to remove and replace these very small screws ? Thank you very much !

      @UbergeeksBiz  3 года назад

You do not need all the small screws. If broke off, just leave it as is. WiFi will still work

Hello, I just replaced my MacBook 1706 with a MacBook 1708 screen, now my Touch Bar doesn't react anymore. Is this normal? Any one a solution? Thanks a lot
