Thank you for this video. An Apple Store or Best Buy would have charged me 800 or 1100 dollars just to fix my girlfriend’s computer screen. For 178 I bought the one in your description off Amazon, and it took me an hour to fix it myself! Not bad for a first time replacement. Definitely recommend using a magnetic tip tool to help you with the tiniest screws, I kept dropping mine in the laptop and had to use tweezers every minute or so to get it out again. They’re like 1-2mm long so it’s a pain without a magnetic tip, but not impossible. Very detailed video. Concise and very helpful. This video saved me 600+ dollars getting it fixed in store!
This has to be one of the best explained tutorials I have ever watched..VERY clear instructions and comments that are important when needed! Thank you!
You are awesome…. Followed your process and got my laptop fixed… sharing your video in my bio and your link to other peoples too… thank you again. You are awesome. 😊
This just SAVED ME! Thank you so much. First time replacing anything regarding my MacBook and had success the very first time! Thank you for your videos! You explained everything perfectly with great detail!! 🙌🏾
Dude! Thank you! My display was cracked and didn't work. I bought it on amazon and followed your dirrections to replace.. and guess what! It works! Thank you for your video!!!
After stripping 4 of the screws on the wifi antenna, I drilled them out. thank you for this video. Very helpful. Managed to get my mate's wife's laptop going again with an aftermarket screen. Top man!
best explanation and walk through. got my tools and screen off ebay but this helped so much. thank you for you time and effort. saved me from buying a new MacBook or putting up with a dongle and second screen
It WORKEDDD thank you so much dude I'm not gonna lie I was a bit skeptical at the start but I thought oh well the laptop's already gone may as well give it a go, followed this tutorial step by step and now I don't need to buy a new laptop or give a delusional amount of money to apple. Thank you so much
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was quoted $500 to fix this and decided to just figure it out myself and this video was so helpful! I now have a working screen and an extra 400 bucks in my pocket 🎉
Thank you so much for this video! My laptop screen needed a replacement that would have cost me almost $1000, but i was able to replace it for half that cost with the help of your great tutorial! Im so happy. Thank you so much!!
Excellent walk-through video. Each step very well explained and helped me replace a screen on MacBook Pro. Those tiny screws for the wifi antenna are a nightmare trying to get back in. Must upgrade my eyeballs soon!
This tutorial was extremely helpful. I had trouble trying to slide the case back on after replacing the display, but your explanation helped me complete it quickly. Thanks!
Many thanks for this video! My daughter is off to graduate school, a huge expense, and rescuing her laptop helps our bottom line. This video is excellent. I was able to change out my daughter’s Mac Book Pro screen successfully. It’s tiny work- wow what small screws- but the video covers every needed point to get the job done. Thanks for a great explanatory video!!
OMG you are GREAT! I keep loosing the screws and getting confused when putting the right ones back. Also getting the wifi heads back was a struggled but I DID IT!!! thank you so much. ❤
Agreed, the best and most detailed step-by-step guide. I missed the T3 part from other videos and couldn't remove the crew attaching to the mother board. Then this video talked about switching to T3, that is a good detail easily missed. I have to buy T3 bit in order to continue. Thanks.
Thank you very much for such detailed instructions and the words of encouragement during the video. My friend's MacBook is working properly again. I have to say that in around 20 years of working with laptops, nearly all Windows ones, this was the most fiddly screen I've ever changed, even when swapping a new screen into the same casing. I can't believe it needed five different size and shape screwdrivers! Gotta love Apple... I could not have done this without help so thanks again!
The 12 extremely small 0.8 star bit screws at the top for wifi antenna aren't torx bits, they are star bits. Just in case anyone wonders why their torx only goes down to size 1, and tries to order a smaller size tool
Hi, This where I'm stuck. Do you mean it is 0.8 pentalobe? Or, is it a completely different screwdriver? I've been searchig but couldn't find anything that says 0.8 star bits. I'd appreciate your response.
thank you for this video. Apple wanted $500 to replace the screen and i ordered an original used one from ebay for $130. our screen had the common design flaw from apple where the display cable would flex over time and eventually not display the screen when it was fully opened. Again thank you very much for this detailed video!!!!!
Followed this guide to replace the screen on my macbook prro and it worked a treat!. I had to grind down some of the plastic on the wifi antenna to prervent the lid frrom making a popping/clicking noise when opened and closed. Otherwise a great video and saved me lots of money! :)
Just a question : are the "non-original Apple displays" one can buy at for example Amazon also have the Retina feature ? Or are they just ordinary LCD displays ?
Thank you so much man, appreciate it. Can you please do a video on replacing an ssd onto the A1708 macbook model, I bought a repairs Macbook which I am planing on fixing
Okay so my exact issue is that I stripped the exact screw you said not to strip 😂 and I was only left with one last screw to take off. What are the additional steps I need to take to remove this super tiny screw?
Thank you so much for doing this video. Using it I was able to successfully replace the screen on a MacBook Pro A1708. Unfortunately I seemed to have the same battery issue that you did, and when I power on using AC there is just an X on the battery. So I'm not sure if that means I damaged a connector or something else happened. If you have any suggestions please let me know.
Thank you. The instructions are clear, but when I connected everything and turned the device on, the display powered on, but it just showed 3 vertical purple bars. I fidgeted with the screen's position and the display acts as if there's a weak connection or a shorted cable (glitching in and out and ¼ of the left side of the screen is a black), so I disconnected everything and looked over the connectors with a high-powered microscope. I saw a few fibers. I dont think they were microscopic wires, so I lightly brushed the lcd connectors to remove any debris (which was advised by the seller if the display doesn't show after installation). After reconnecting everything, the issue remained, so I turned the device on its side, with the device still on, I removed the back and probed the connectors with a plastic tool to see if there was any activity, but nothing happens until I touch the physical screen itself. I believe the screen's internals are the issue, but Im still unsure. I'm not big on Mac repairs. I never experienced this with PC. Being that we've already worked with this and the plastic pre-packaging isn't still pretty and fingerprint free, I hope the customer can get the seller to replace the replacement screen. I dont think it's my fault, but I'm so embarrassed 🤦🏾♂️
This video is outstanding. I'm about to make this repair. Do you have any suggestions in terms of keeping track of each tiny part? In other words, is there a desired workflow when it comes to keeping track of each tiny screw--and remembering which tiny screw goes where? Perhaps placing each part on a piece of paper where I've drawn a rough schematic of the back of computer where each screw is located? I'm thinking with so many screws it would be easy to use the wrong one.
Very helpful, thank you. I have one macbook with dead logic board, and bought me a flexgate with dead screen. Would you swap the screen or the logic board ?
Great video. Having an issue with the camera not being detected after screen replaced, have tried all the soft resets (nvram, smc etc) but which step/area would you recommend to check if there’s a connection/hardware issue. Apple diagnosis has ndc001 as the error and system shows camera as not installed
Any idea what could be wrong with mine? My old screen is all black and even flashing light doesn’t show the very faint display. It works fine with external monitor. I replaced the screen and it is still black but flashing light through it doesn’t show the very faint Apple logo.
Quick question: This model is know to have screen flickers and lines on screen, do you know how to fix this? Or possible reason why this would be happening? Much thanks 🙏
Your video is great but I'm scared to break up something 😪I have literally zero experience with this kind of works.. do you think is better to ask help a professional in that case?
Absolute top-notch instructions. The best instructional I have seen on youtube yet so far over many years of watching help videos. UberGeeks, you've done well! Keep it up.
Questions, How to tell macbooks number, It looks the same with the video (2017, Macbook pro 13 inch) with a single fan and no touch bar. I would like to confirm before making the purchase
Hello! My macbook pro’s lcd is cracked & there’s no display on the screen. I’d like to sell this laptop and need to do a factory reset- I’ve got the laptop connected to my TV’s hdmi so I can do the factory reset but whenever I try to enter recovery mode by pressing command + R upon restart, the display on the TV won’t work anymore. Any advise? Thanks so much!

Great Tutorial!!! My daughter and I were able to fix her broken screen for a fraction of the cost of the Apple store. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Simon ... a humungous thumbs up from Granada, España. My A1708A has been reborn. New screen and battery installed. Fabulous videos. Take a bow ! KeniC

@@UbergeeksBiz I asked apple for how much they will replace it, they told me around 700$. I did it under 200 and I am a gal! :)

I figured you meant 0.8 pentalobe. Just wanted to clarify in case others might benefit as well.
In the Pro tech tool kit it is P2 bit.
Thank you my friend, I'm going to change the screen after seeing your nice video👍

Is the a1708 LCD assembly different for Touch Bar and non Touch Bar models?
Hey what happens my screen is still not responding? The instructions were amazing and I manage to get it all together but still no picture
Were you able to resolve this? Having same issue
