What a genius you are. I saved myself £800 and bought a used motherboard off eBay and removed my old base and attached to the the new one. I would never have been able to do this without your step-by-step guidance. Thanks so much for posting this video
Just repaired my 2020 mac book pro LCD screen and Iphone X battery, now Im moving to my 2017 macbook, mac book air. This channel saved me thousands of dollars of repair.
Thank you for this video. I haven’t received my replacement screen yet, but just received my repair toolkit in the mail yesterday. You are saving people hundreds of dollars by making this video. I appreciate you so much.
Dear Simon - thank you for this extremely helpful video, which has guided me to a successful screen replacement on my MacBook Pro. I really appreciated the level of patient detail in the video!
excellent video. I’ve watched others as I’m a computer tech with my own business and I have been getting a lot of display issues recently. Thank you for explaining which is which and to proceed in the steps you illustrate. Very very helpful for those of us that really want to know. Bravo!
It is an excellent video and very clear to understand. I am able to replace the screen by following this and saving hundreds of dollars. Thank you so much and I really appreciate you for this video.
I LOVE the black and white opening scenes of your vids. I would recommend blowing out the fans while you have it apart. Do not let the fans spin while blowing them out or you will burn them out. Hold fan blade with small srcrew driver or such.
Awsome, this hapled me to do the job! The only problem I had was my 0.8 that actually bent (I assume poor quality tools) when I had 5 screws left on the right side, but luckily, it was possible to replace the screen with the antena partially attached on that side, just a bit tight. All working well now!
Thanks. I was able to successfully replace the screen. The iFixIt toolkit has slightly different labels (especially the 0.8 you showed for the smallest screws) is actually p2.
Hello Simon.Thank you for your very clear videos and your skills.I learned a lot from them. I got an A2159 and there is a flash in the screen too. In all angels off the screen. It appears after starting up. It often go with the change op the seconds in the clock. But not all the time. But when I have internet TV on it stays good without any flickering. I did everything I could find in the internet, diagnosis, reset SMC, different settings on screen options. even reinstall IOS, ect. No results. Do you think this is a software problem or hardware.problem, and have you any idea what i can do about it.
Thank you for this very clear step by a step a1707 screen replacement guide video. My screen is not broken but when I open the panel to around 70deg and beyond it goes off. Bringing it back down to close position the screen comes on. So my question is; do I need to replace the whole screen or need to open up and make sure the cables are tight?
Thank you for the video. I received my A1707 model as an "out of box" gift from my boss. Unfortunately, I accidentally cracked the screen. In purchasing a replacement, how can I find out the year and the screen size?
I was replacing my screen and some how damaged the daughter board connector on my a1707 can I swap the daughter board from my old one? The four ribbons that go to the daughter board are the inner two the only cables or are the outer cables also?
Appreciate the content! Question, My screen just went black, before hand it was really low in display brightness then went completely black, but the bar/keyboard still lights up assuming it’s just the screen I need to replace? Or what can it be?
Thanks for the tutorial. Now I have a folder with a question mark. And the wifi shows "on" for a few seconds the switches to "searching for networks" and continues to bounce. I attempted to reinstall OS, and get an error. All connections are secure. Not sure what else to do
I replaced my screen but it wont turn on. I even replaced the battery and put the old screen back and it does nothing. Any suggestions? With the old one you can hear when it’s stars to charge and the caps button light on but not with the new screen
I just got to the part of the wifi screw. And whoever made my laptop must have forseen that I'd do something to my screen. Because they put the antenna on top of the screw. Is there a way I can unscrew this without messing this up?
You mentioned that the “springy thing” has to be long enough. What happens when it’s not long enough ? Both the new screen and old screen seems like it’s not long enough to fit in place. Ik it’s something I’m doing wrong because the old one won’t fit back in place either
Are you talking about the lcd screen board ? Only way I can imagine is when you close the screen, you might have clipped the paper thin cable of the lcd screen board. Make sure the paper thin cable is seating on the laptop freely.
Hello. I opened the inside of my Macbook Pro 2017 Touch Bar model by carefully unscrewing the screws. First, I disconnected the battery cables and then carefully cleaned the fans by blowing them. I didn't remove the motherboard, I just cleaned it superficially. Then I turned off the macbook but the Touch Bar did not work. Even though I've been trying for days and following your advice, I couldn't get any results. Is there anyone who can help with this? Thank you.
clear isntruction, however i find it amazin on how apple made it stupidly convoluted to do a simple LCD replacement, on other laptops sometimes you don't even need to open the main-board section at all, just open the lcd bezel and a few screws, 2 cables and it out

My MacBook pro 1990 screen is broken, can i replace it with a screen of a1707? Both looks like the same, resolution is the same as well
Great video ❤ Please provide me with the link so I can purchase the screen! 😊
Thank you for the video. I received my A1707 model as an "out of box" gift from my boss. Unfortunately, I accidentally cracked the screen. In purchasing a replacement, how can I find out the year and the screen size?
Great video, but my battery is not being recognized👎 was very carful with first two connectors. Only works plugged in

Have you tried hooking up an external display? That will tell you whether it's the display or the driver.
Of course the very last wifi antenna screw stripped on me. just my luck
any tips on how to remove stripped screws?
I used a tiny drill bit to drill that stripped screw
I stripped 3 antenna screws, what to do? I used 0.8
Thanks for the tutorial. Now I have a folder with a question mark. And the wifi shows "on" for a few seconds the switches to "searching for networks" and continues to bounce. I attempted to reinstall OS, and get an error. All connections are secure. Not sure what else to do
Can any other screen number be used with it sorry? a1909 for example.
Living legend
I replaced my screen but it wont turn on. I even replaced the battery and put the old screen back and it does nothing. Any suggestions? With the old one you can hear when it’s stars to charge and the caps button light on but not with the new screen
i cant find the page for buying the laptop
have a new amazon link for space grey, or ebay link?

can I disconnect the antanae and then unscrew it? Because I literally can not get to the screw with the antanea ontop of it.
Got it, but now two of my .8 screws are stripped - btw this was before I even t ouched them...
Thanks very good.
you are welcome. glad the video helped.
Hi, can i use the screen of a model A1990 to replace the screen of a model A1707? it is the same size and both have touchbar. I thank you!
Cannot
do you have a link for the 0.8 that you used in the video. I was using ifixit pro toolkit, and it broke all the bits.
Try this : amzn.to/3lVjTc7
Thank you! Followed along and completed with no issues. I was slower than you.. 😜
Glad it helped!

Quick correction: The battery bolt is a T4 not a T3.
They out so many screws in there to scare everyone from trying to do it themselves. This is wild 😅
Where can I find one of these screens to buy ???
