Well we need to get technical because this game is numbers heavy but I really try my best to keep things in an order which allows people to actually take in the game without being overrun by it. Glad to hear that my plan works out. Cheers and thanks for your comment o/
@@Ic0nGaming Yeah, speaking as someone who has nearly 1000 hours in Dominions 5 and was looking for a video I could send to people as I try and evangelize people to good news of the Pantokrator I have to say this is one of the best tutorials I have seen. I would kibitz over your God choice. For a real new player I probably would have recommended the big pig or earth snek with a reinvig bless for your shamans and ignore sacreds entirely, but your pick makes sense if you want to show how sacreds work. Also, you might want to mention pressing '?' for the keyboard commands and tab on the Pretender selection screen. Good habit to get into early, the mouse driven UI in Illwinter games is... well... it is a thing.
@@imperialus1Ha, nice to see you again! Indeed I only went for that Pretender Chassis to show Thugging later on. Otherwise a simple expander chassis would've been a good alternative indeed. Glad to have you back here ;)
thanks for starting a tutorial series. I find your tutorials easier to follow than some of the other content creators. looking forward to more episodes
13:40 I would also recommend to "overrecruit" because if you end your turn when you overrecruit the resources (and maybe rec points) don't get wasted but actually go toward the unit you set to recruit consequently the next turn you might be able to recruit an extra unit\commander if you put repeat recruitment on and have not change the recruit roster.
Thanks for your comment! I do plan to do more detailed episodes or maybe even a "Advanced Tutorial" series, directly adressed to players who already know the game. Cause it's really darned easy to get overwhelmed by the raw amount of data this game offers.
Perfect blend of intro/let's play/tutorial (as a totally new player to the series). Works well in tandem with some of the slower, more detailed tutorial videos I've watched and the full let's play style videos where they click around a bit too fast for us newbs as they are experienced ..... you strike a happy medium.
I’ve played all of the Dominions games since the first one, but I barely played 5, and I’m having to relearn a lot. Your video series here is incredibly helpful. Thank you.
Thank you for starting a tutorial series on this game. Was thinking of getting it. As a possible newcomer to the Dominions series I was hoping to see some gameplay first.
The Dominions series always were a bit heavy to get into, but the massive wealth of lore and fun gameplay really make up for it. I deem it the best auto-battler I've ever played though. It might have a clunky UI and the graphics won't blow you away either, but the gameplay is rock solid once you got behind the basics. You can tinker hours and hours on every single faction, min-maxing the hell outta each option. Or just find your way that is fun and just waltz over the AI on lower difficulties and slowly learn how to optimize for harder difficulties. Or jump into the active PvP scene. But yeah, it's hard to get into, clearly. Took me myself about 50 hours on Domi 5 and 6 together to just be able to put this tutorial together. And I don't know how many hours I read on the Wiki and Forums which didn't get clocked. And I feel like a crappy noob :D
my first playthrough i had no idea what dominion was so when my god got sniped across the map from a monkey priest for 982 damage i immediately lost my game after 8 hours :(
video would be better if you coudl focus and get to the point instead of saying half of the time "There is so many things you can do" or keep repeating " I can't cover eveythings". Yeah, I got it, that's why i'm looking for a tutorial bro. But thx for the guide
They won't stack, but the aiming of the spells is entirely random so chances are they will be spread among the troops. It's the smallest version of the spell, later you have larger AoE buff spells.
I did not go for any specialized strategy here for a reason. The series is meant for beginners and yes, the scales are unoptimized, but that's hardly an issue when you play Domi for the first few times.
Finally, a reasonably focused tutorial that doesn't go into nauseating detail on every menu and run off on unnecessary tangents. I appreciate you sir!

oh my gosh hahaha i know exactly what you mean
Thanks for this! I've been meaning to get into these games for ages but had no idea how to even start so this is a lifesaver
My pleasure! Have fun =)

A new complex niche game just released, and here comes Icon with the tutorial-steelchair.

Thanks for an easy first play. Too many detailed tutorials out there. Bite sized chunks are the best way to get the message through.

I have been interested in this game but have had zero knowledge of how to play, ill be sure to give your series a watch

Feeling quite honored to hear that this holds up for veterans of the series =) Cheers o/
Thanks for this, enjoyed your Against the Storm content and this game is definitely on my list!
Thanks a lot, a very useful tutorial. Good job!👍
Best simple quick tutorial :) I'm following the series. I'm an intermediate player and I found some good tips that I didn't think about it yet :)
This was exactly what I wanted from a tutorial video
Thank you! I bought this last night and was so confused!
Nice video. 👍 Easy to understand :)
thank you so much for making this kind of tutorial! it really helps get new players into this great game, me included:)

Well I might just sneak a bit of Gameplay inbetween then =)
@@Ic0nGaming Well technically your tutorial also constitutes as gameplay. Seems interesting so far.
This was an *excellent* tutorial video! Thank you! Now I have something to try to convince my BiL with!
Good tutorial. Will use this as a reference in the future.
Very much needed last time i tried to play this series i totally bounched off

thank you man.. preem tutorial, choom.
Welcome to Dominions, friend. : )
And since you're so interested in views, may I suggest a collab with Perun? ; )
Love Dominions games!!
This should be one of the resources linked on the Steam site to explain the game for beginners.
Well I did put up a link to the playlist in the Steam Guides section at least. Thanks for the idea and your kind words o/
@@Ic0nGaming found this vid through that link, thanks!
Thanks for the vid.

Check out DasTactic then, he goes way more into detail right from the get-go! He's doing really good stuff as well =)
do multiple strenght of giants spells stack or why 3 of them?

Wait what, u play ulm without maxing out ressources? O_o
