    12:45 Thaumaturgy is the general toolbox of mages; revealing things on and off the battlefield, putting sources of magical power together, affecting the astral world in the same sort of way that Enchantment affects the mind, etc.

    Hello there, thanks for these tutorials - I'm completely new to Dominions and you're making it just enough depth that it's easy to understand and the videos don't have 2 hours.

    If i remember correctly, it's a cost issue with alchemy. You use 2 gems to make a pearl, but you need 2 pearls to make a gem in return. And since you only made 1 pearl, you couldn't make any gems with that.

      Thanks a lot, I'll fix that into the beginning of the next episode.

    These are great, thank you for putting them together. You are one of the few to have done an EA Ulm playthrough even on back to Dom 5 and so far the series has been great. Looking forward to watching this tutorial and future ones.

      As soon as this basic intro series is done I plan to do Let's Play series where I'll do my best to build good with each nation and try to keep them educative too. Thanks for your kind words o/

    Something to mention that is new in Dom 6. When you research level 9, you only get one spell. It mentions it on page 17 of the manual.

      Thanks in advance, I haven't played a session that far yet within Domi 6. Way too busy resetting around the mid game to do better than the last time! Hope you're enjoying yourself as well. Tomorrow I'll do a new episode and soon some gameplay series as well. Feel free to recommend/wish some Gameplay! There's so much to choose from, I have a hard time to settle down with something ^^

    Blood slaves're actually easy to get...if you're a blood nation (i.e., you can recruit blood mages out of the box). See, you can pick with provinces to farm, and control your "gem" income in this case. Blood magic is _notorious_ for being a big deal in the late game.

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  8 месяцев назад +1

      My point here was just that Gem Income usually happens passively via Sites, while Blood Farms need active Troop recruitment and assignment.
      It makes Micro-Wise quite the difference, no use denying that. Of course Blood Nations get their tricks with stronger Blood Hunters and some other ways to sneak in Blood Slaves here and there but the main income is Commanders Farming Blood instead of Researching.
      And that's why I deem Blood a bit more challenging than gemstone based magic, thats all.

      @drunkslaver 7 месяцев назад

      @@Ic0nGaming While gemstone income is passive it is rather small and limited for the higher level spells that eat up 50+ gems per cast, however if you go to a highly pop'ed province with a decent bloodmage and army (maybe one with a perk for procuring extra blood bags) you can get quite a few bloodslaves in one go (usually around 75 per 20k pop province).
      So yeah, usually blood magic can get stupid powerful in mid to late game if you plan accordingly, however, there will be a slight impact on your income and pop(or major if you're a bit overzealous) because you are literally raiding and killing your citizens for their virgin daughters. Also unrest, A LOT of unrest if you go really overboard in multiple provinces on the same turn.
      On the flip side more bloodslaves = more demons = more power ,so who needs that income anyway?

    I have a question as a completely new person who just purchased this game two days ago. One of the factions that took my attention was an undead faction in mid age. Unfortunately the name eludes me, but something to do with Ashen Wastes in their title. Do you know if there are separate guides for each faction on the net ? I've been watching new player guides and they seem to centre around Ulm ( which is fine ) but I feel like I'm missing a critical part of the game without mages. Do you have resources you used to get to grips with all the factions ?
    Cheers and thanks for the videos!
    Edit - As I watch , I can also see that Ulm has some mages. So, I guess you can say I'm totally lost . lol

      Hey there! I'm pretty sure you are referring to Ermor, which is a very unique nation (even more so than the other nations are lol). Their strategy is that they will spawn free units in every province they claim while killing the population in the process.
      Ideally you build a Pretender God with high Death Scales as that doesn't really bother you and you should try to build as many forts as you can in your claimed provinces, cause that will upgrade the free troops you get.
      These are the rough basics around a so called "popkill" nation, there's way more to it, but this should give you the basic idea. I plan to do more material in the future, if I can guides for each nation. It's a lot of material to work through though, so it might take some time. I will get MA Ermor higher onto my list, feel free to ask away ;)

      @@MaXiMooSe1028 Typically newer players would be advised to stay away from popkill nations like Middle Age Ermor, for the exact reason that they play quite differently from almost anyone else. However, if you did really want to try them out, the main form of currency for Ermor is Death Gems. They have access to a few unique spells which allow them to summon mages using death magic, each temple gives you an additional death gem (up to your dominion strength, so when making a pretender make sure to have Dominion as high as possible!), and you can also summon strong unholy priests which can use special reanimation to summon sacred Undead as well. The nation has some clear drawbacks but it's perfect for playing as a powerful necromancer!
