Everybody get your Rip Hamilton on. I remember being taught to pump fake from the 3 and pull up at the elbow as a kid. Nice to see elite players still use it.
when i was 6 i would go to camp and wear a rip jersey and do that. i remember one time i was wide open for the corner three but i still pumpfaked and pulled up from baseline out of force of habit and everyone was like "tf was that pump fake for?? LOL"
@@StreetballStrategies I always liked his mask but never paid a lot of attention to him as a kid. AI had me due to his flashiness and being a small guard like me. Rip was a menace running through screens though. Really made his man work.
Chandasouk Midrange felt natural to me. I was quick and skinny like Rip, and had the energy to run my defender ragged like he did. I loved how he could use that as an offensive weapon.
i love everything about the mid range. catch&shoot from baseline or offball screens like rip, stepback from baseline like dirk/LA, fake to one dribble pullup like kobe, call for a screen, they read it, so you just go back off the other side of the screen & shoot like kemba. i love doing all of this when i hoop, of course in casual bball it hasn't died but its a shame to not see it that much when you watch NBA games, its def a lost art.
lateral pull up can be very difficult. especially if you do it where you dip the ball from the side to protect it from getting stripped and then you have to get a lil bit of hangtime to balance it back out mid air. its especially difficult when you're fading. it amazes me when kobe does it
The hip turn thing was sometning i really needed to know! I always tried to figure out why im not getting the room to pull up against a defender but now I realized that I should pull up when the defenders hip is turned
It's funny when the media/cultural analysts claim something is "lost" or question what happened when they're the ones saying people should stop doing it Not this channel, he's just explaining something, nut the real gatekeepers
Midrange is definitely the most unused shot in today's game forreal Cause most people want to master 3s and be a great scorer but if you watched kobe,cp3 jordan, Kawhi ,melo DeRozan, rip Hamilton are all great shooters and scorer cause they mastered the midrange which is very essential especially if you want a strong post game

A lot of youtubers say you gotta get your defender to turn their hips but some of y'all won't actually know how to recognize it in-game (mainly because no one talks about it for some reason). I think Tim Martin said it best when he was teaching Trae Young how to attack a defender. He said, if you can see his chest in front of you, you shift him side to side. If you see his shoulder you go as hard as you can at the rim. It's at that point where your defender is forced to turn his hips. If you beat his shoulders and get ahead, he's gonna have to start running after you. Perfect time to pull up, but if you crashing into him, he'll be in a perfect position to just rise up and contest.
It’s much easier for y’all to apply these principles when you see college guys doing it than the best of all time, who have physical and skill qualities that are absolutely unattainable by most
@John doue Quebec If you're posting up, don't. You're short so you're gonna get blocked. If you're fading off dribble, try practicing some step-backs or do what the guy says in the video. It works even if you're short.
@@ByAnyMeansBasketball yo you said you could go on and on for hours about getting into your shot and pick and rolls. I want you too. Pretty sure alot of us fans do
@John doue Quebec That really does not matter. They are NBA players and different people. You are who you are so don't try imitate some NBA star. That's why sports is a thing. Different players offer different things.
I like the addition of Dion Waiters to the Lakers for his scoring in the mid-range. 😅😅😅 INSTANT OFFENSE GUY because of Dion Waiters's ability to create his own offense off-the-dribble.
its weird that people think everyone form my era is 3pt heavy. I'm 24 but I came up learning to shoot the model range jumpers not 3s. No coach ever taught me anything from 3, we just shot them when we were open. Everything we learned was free throw line and in. The 3 point happy era started more this last decade rather than with us 90s kids.
Dave A Yea he does talk about a little part of shooting like range, pull up etc. I want a video of him just talking about the right mechanics for a good jumpshot
@@ByAnyMeansBasketball seriously, thank you. I’ve been studying these all 2020. You and a couple other truly clutch youtubers are all that’s kept me sane when there was no nba.
ESPN Analytics Community started an all-out war against Kobe Bryant for his reliance on the mid-range shot. 😑😑😑 Called mid-range "the most inefficient shot in basketball." After Kobe Bryant, ESPN Analytics Community went after DeMar DeRozan.
Here's a stat for you. It is more efficient to have the worst 3 point shooter in the league take a three from the right corner than it is to have the best mid range shooter in the league take a two from the right elbow. That's actually real. Think about that, the three pointer ruined are sport, the art of the midrange is dead and we killed it, look what we did to my boy 😪
My vertical jump is not improving though I've been training for about three weeks. I saw quick gains with the same routine just a few months ago, but not now. Seems like I've hit a plateau. Help me out. Edit: I've mainly been focusing on plyos and less on strength.
Also, with the Hop Footwork, albeit slower, offers 2 advantages other than what he said: 1.) Can be a very convincing hesi/fake (change of height+speed, etc.) which.. 2.) also retains explosiveness and elasticity since you are bouncing. Can be used to explode past your defender quickly. Basically like the "float hesi". I'm 16, and ever since my ACL Injury, I've been focusing on biomechanics and skills more than raw athleticism. I havent played a 5v5 game for almost 9 months, and I cant right now due to the virus. Please focus on biomechanics especially. Try checking hyperarch mechanism.

The mid range is the most beautiful part of the game imo
Yes this is True

After Jordan and Kobe, Rip is my favorite player. 💪

Love the mid-range game. Overlooked by many offensive players, misunderstood by most defenders. Good video.
CP3 inspires my midrange

Steph Curry IRL is 100 game sliders on the mid-range I swear I rarely see that guy miss mid-range shots
Pretty much
I’ll take a mid range over a long range three the mid range soo nice and smooth bruh
