  • We're looking at a section of Park Blvd from El Cajon Blvd to Meade. The developer put in some paint that was lousy (it was so bad, we talked about it in the news here www.cbs8.com/article/news/loc... ). It looks like the city has gone in and made some improvements.
It's still mostly paint, but at least parked cars now create some kind of barrier. We'll take the win.
And for those of you goons who are concerned I'm running rend lights, I'm doing so when the Leading Pedestrian Interval is active, which is allowed in CA: www.bicycling.com/news/a46341...
    Thanks for watching.
These videos can be scary, but please know that my goal isn't to deter people from riding bikes in San Diego, but to show the real-world conditions. Sometimes it's pleasant, sometimes it's just fine, and other times there's tension and conflict.
The roads in San Diego should be safe and accessible to everyone without the use of a car. My hope is that these videos help those in power make better decisions for all our safety. I also believe that the more people who decide to ride, the safer the roads will become.
Please remember to support your local bike safety and mobility advocacy organizations, like BikeSD (bikesd.org/), the San Diego County Bike Coalition (sdbikecoalition.org/) and Circulate San Diego (www.circulatesd.org/)

Honestly that little thing is awesome. It makes me wonder how i got to this point where little things get me so excited

I'm all for completing bike networks. A block or two here or there where things break can ruin the experience for people, especially casual riders, of whom we need more.

I'm so glad they just did the right thing and removed the parking. They are moving it to side streets anyways

I do love the improvement, but I try and avoid the ECB, Park, Washington intersection if I can. Especially heading south. It’s a mess for cars, pedestrians and bicyclists.

You're totally right, @mariovillegas9975. I don't mind going north and south on Park, and I'll go east from Park on ECB (but more often use Meade or Howard). Rather than using this intersection to get on Washington, I typically take Meade all the way to Maryland to the north, then Lincoln to that bridge that goes to the Trader Joe's.

Look cities. The bare minimum isn't that hard. Just paint the lines in a slightly different location and your cyclists won't have to ride in traffic or get doored or cut off when someone wants to pull into a parking space.
