  • It is time to get to know the trigeminal nerve! Of the twelve cranial nerves that start in your brainstem, this one is the largest. It has both sensory and motor functions, and it is often incredibly important when you are trying to resolve issues related to the head, neck, and face.
If you are prone to regular headaches, jaw or chewing issues, or TMJ or TMD, you’ll want to commit this exercise to memory!
If you are currently free from head, neck, or jaw issues, this exercise can still be a helpful addition to your general movement training because of the intensity of activation it provides to your brain.
Give it a try, and let us know how it works for you!
    Video Highlights:
    - Get to know the functions of the trigeminal nerve
    - Self-assessment related to trigeminal nerve issues
    - Nerve flossing for the trigeminal nerve

Hi there, wanted to ask does this exercise helps with middle ear mioclonus or MEM? I have a spazmatic muscle on my right side of rhe ear which is right next to the eardrum and is twitching into the eardrum so I feel and hear it. It’s really annoying and disrupts my sleep at night. The triggers for these spasms mostly activate when I yawn or burp. Sometimes also from hiccups and morning subconscious full body stretches. Please let me know if you have any tips. Thank you

The answer is MAYBE... MEM can have some relatively complex causes so it is entirely possible that jaw mobilizations could be helpful for you, but you would need to ask your healthcare team and test it carefully to make sure you respond well. Good luck!

How often should you do this stretch?

We normally recommend 2-4x's day based on how it makes you feel. Any time you are working in the head/neck/jaw region it is best to err on the side of "less is more" so start with 2x's/day and see how you respond. Thank you!

This exercise for the trigeminal nerve is helpful. Just wanted to ask, if you can recommend something else for face asymmetry/ facial pain caused by the trigeminal nerve. Many thanks.
