To see the savings, you must be on Medicare and wait until 2026. Even at half price most still won’t be able to afford it.
I’m on Medicare. Medicare does not pay a penny for prescriptions.
In order to have prescription coverage, regular Medicare recipients are required to pay for a separate insurance prescription plan. It barely covers generic medications. None of the high dollar drugs are covered. My former zero copay generic blood pressure medication just increased in price, so I now pay out of pocket to receive it. The high dollar medications are only available to me if I pay out of pocket for them.
@@swstrauser - You are correct about needing additional prescription coverage unless you have an Advantage plan, but wrong about the coverage. Since I didn't go that route, I need extra coverage. Mine covers all the drugs mentioned, though I don't take them. For my inhaler, though, at $300 retail, I pay $47.
$500 to $250 is a savings, but still, who can afford that price? In Europe, pharmaceutical companies cannot advertise on media, so the cost of drugs is lower. In the US, they advertise like made, so you pay for the ad.
Europe also has a lot more money per capita to pay down their costs. How about we make them pay for the Ukraine war and use the money we save to pay down our costs?

Trump established the Transparency in Coverage Rule in 2020, which was supposed to go into effect beginning July 1, 2022. Health plans and health insurance issuers would have published two separate Machine-Readable Files containing In-Network and Out-Of-Network details.
Biden/Harris changed this to be just a tool for looking at the cost and liability for 500 common medical services.
Trump also had EO 13877 which lowered care costs, allowed for cheaper insurance options for people needing less coverage (young people), and removed the Obama mamdate for health insurance.

The third order will prohibit secret deals between drug manufacturers and pharmacy “benefit manager” middlemen, ensuring patients directly benefit from available discounts at the pharmacy counter.
The fourth order ensures the United States pays the lowest price available among economically advanced countries for Medicare Part B drugs. The United States often pays 80 percent more for these drugs than other developed nations.

@christhompson6010 maybe I misunderstood but I didn't hear medicare drug plans. I heard 5 meds lowered. The high cost of meds has more to do with the US people paying for the R&D for the world. That is according to 60 minutes. But a president can and should negotiate with pharmaceutical companies to spread that cost and lower the overall cost. I am however against too much government involvement but a little negotiation would be acceptable.
