There is nothing wrong with grandma helping care for grandkids, provided its HER choice and not some expectation of a postmenopausal woman. We are in 2024 and not 1724, right?
@freedomfirst5557 That’s not true. It seems now days if someone disagrees with the left they get really triggered by their choice and call that person names and want to cancel the person. So who doesn’t like the word the choice?
However, it is their choice. My theory is they were "nice" girl friends and presented themselves as being Trad wife persons. Men who weren't interested, shied away from them, seeking more independent women, and this left the nice girls a bunch of lesser men from which to choose.

@@cocatfan Babe, there's a certain "misery loves company" theme going on with the married with children set. And, not unlike most parents, they want you to justify their choices, by repeating them yourself. This isn't like buying a car. You can't trade it in if you're bored with it, or change your mind. Or don't like this particular model. You get what you get. And it's a 24/7, 365, 18 plus yrs, responsibility for another human being. People imagine it will add that something that is missing, often in a life they like already. The reality is it will change EVERYTHING, whether you want it to or not. The simple act of checking the mirror, picking up your purse and heading out the door.. is now an endless list of things to do, accessorys to take with you, kid to tidy up, people to notify,..before you can turn the doorknob. Odds are your posh purse is now a diaper bag. And you can't remember when you last combed your hair. And i could go on for pages... It's my personal belief that if people had more than the vaguest idea what this actually entails, on a daily basis, yr after year...most of us wouldn't be here. And every time i'm forced to experiance a raging, screaming tantrum...or any of the other assortment of noises they make. (I mean really. Are kids all DEAF??) in a publc area...I'm seriously grateful they aren't mine. And the person they are going home with, IS NOT ME. .
I agree, that was disrespectful, though I believe totally unintentional.. Some of us don't mind being called hun or sweetie or even dear by strangers and some people grew up with that and it's a very hard habit to break and shake. I personally don't mind it, probably because I grew up with a less than affectionate father and a VERY hot and cold running mother. But she's right about that one tiny example of having kids when she was talking about getting out the door. You pretty much~ even with just ONE very cooperative happy kid, have to have that morning routine down to military precision, you need a plan b a plan c and a plan d, 😀 and even then.. the whole thing can go off the rails with a single, out of nowhere, breakneck race to the toilet to vomit~and you'd better hope that the person racing to the bathroom to vomit ....isn't YOU. And I don't think it only lasts 18 years. I don't think there's going to be some gate I lock for the last time. Hopefully as they get older they're not just your kids but also true companions you have the pleasure as a kind of reward although don't expect any~and you live long enough to have seen that they have become fine and people that others care about and respect and that they bring something to the world~ even a little bit, that wasn't there before
As a postmenopausal woman in retirement: This is the first time in my adult life that I have time and money to care for myself and my needs and wants and do the fun stuff that appeals to no one but me. I was a single mom working a part-time job, raising my two kids, and going to school. Then I had a demanding job and often worked 60 hour weeks. I truly do not want to give up any of my convenience for grandkids. I think it is insulting to women of my age to expect that of us.
Poor JD, he is confused about his own identity and role in life! He would feel safe if everyone was forced to play a designated role! He needs therapy!
As an Indian person, I would say JD Vance is looking at his mom in law’s decision as a her duty and that she is happy about it (perhaps she is). Personally, I hated being the caregiver for my nieces and nephews being the youngest and seeing how we were expected to take care of my sisters’ kids and hubby. the burden of childcare in Indian families, even if the woman is a stay home, falls on wife’s women family members. It is an abusive expectation and so many in laws give up jobs, volunteering, rest hours, leisure time to help the daughter and raise her kids. There are no breaks, compensation, thank you, or day offs.
JD Vance is deeply deeply disturbed. It's mental illness. He is detached from his soul, you have no need to explain yourself to a deranged person. The rest of us get it already. Many blessing and love, no woman comes to this planet to be abused, none.
@@joanlamartine1137 it is complicated and runs from generation. It’s truly sick to categorize women based on their childbearing status and what stage of menopause they might be in. And grandparents have NO obligation to be raising their grandchildren.
JD Vance's mother-in-law is a provost at the University of California, San Diego, a job/profession that allowed her to take a 1-year sabbatical to be a caretaker for her grandchild, something most grandmothers can't do because their employers wouldn't hold their jobs for them. Also, Vance has talked about the days of one income households when only the husband had to work and the wife could be a stay-at-home mother, which is fine. My mother was a stay-at-home Mom. But that's not what the Vances chose to do, and it wasn't because JD's income wasn't enough to support his family.

MAGA 1900: In 1900 women’s legal standing was fundamentally governed by their marital status. A married woman had no separate legal identity from that of her husband. She had no right to control her biological reproduction (even conveying information about contraception, for example, was illegal), and no right to sue or be sued since she had no separate standing in court. She had no right to own property in her own name or to pursue a career of her choice. Women could not vote, serve on juries, or hold public office. According to the Supreme Court, they were not "persons" under the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees equal protection under the law. Meaning, former male slaves had more legal rights than women.
In 1900 women were also not conscripted into the military and not required to fight on the front lines which is what gave men some rights over women. Women are still not required to serve on the front line, even though they now have all the same rights that men have and in some cases more. As a man I am all for equality and inclusion and therefore I want to see women in front line military duties, working on oil rigs, mines, recognisance divers and all other risky, dangerous difficult, dirty smelly jobs that traditionally men have done exclusively and not just as cleaners and cooks but as front line workers. As a man I'm tired of women saying they want equality and they don't need men and cherry picking where they want equality and where they don't. It seems nowadays women want the best of all worlds and for men to pick up the tab. No, I'll stay single or marry outside western culture. I don't need or want the empowered feminist boss chick.
@@teresafiore752 I have to correct you on a couple of things you said. Yes, women gained the right to keep their own money in early 1900s as you stated, but women could infact own property and land in the own name since the mid 1800s. There were logical reasons for that time why the laws were as they were and I am delighted that women have successfully gained more rights over the years. The big problem with any women's rights is that whatever rights women have gained, can be easily taken away from them, because only men are strong enough to protect rights in the event of serious crisis. The perfect example of what I'm saying is what happened in Afghanistan, where for a time women had rights and privileges which were given to them by the patriarchal western military, namely the US who was there to install democratic rule in the country. As we all saw, very quickly, once the US left Afghanistan the totalitarian Taliban resumed power' and immediately all those rights women had were taken away. Women were not able to protect their own rights over men. That's one of the big reasons that the US exit out of Afghanistan was such a disaster. Because it left the women unprotected and with few rights and little opportunity yet again. Many modern women live with misconception about rights. Women will have rights as long as men allow them to have them, because you can only keep rights, if you are capable of defending them and women on their own are not. I'm not trying to be mean, but it's just a fact of life as we can clearly see in the Afghanistan example which occurred only very recently. Don't for a moment think that our rights are safe in the US either men's or women's. Have a look around the western world and you'll see that more and more governments are trying to take our liberty and rights away. If the US looses its first and second amendment, it's all over for all of us. Ask your self which party has said they will protect the first and second amendment? DT & JD Vance. The most powerful thing the US possesses is it constitution and its bill of rights. If it is not protected the US will quickly no longer be a superpower free nation no more.

Now, recent reports indicate that Chicago is in the midst of a measles outbreak in city shelters housing more than 10,400 migrants. So far, the measles outbreak is mostly concentrated in migrant shelters in the city but may be spreading. Our culture is good at training women to be good little girls & do as they're told. Smash the Patriarchy, ladies!
However, it is their choice. My theory is they were "nice" girl friends and presented themselves as being Trad wife persons. Men who weren't interested, shied away from them, seeking more independent women, and this left the nice girls a bunch of lesser men from which to choose.

But she's right about that one tiny example of having kids when she was talking about getting out the door.
No need to justify our lives or explain them. Vance is a creep,.
Well nieces and nephews aren't grandchildren...you can always say no! Ever think of that?
@@joanlamartine1137 it is complicated and runs from generation. Fighting the expectations of what a woman should do and be can be tough and unfairly guilt-inducing.

And, if you look at Project 2025, for which he wrote the forward, it is crystal clear that Vance wants to turn back the clock 60+ years to pre-Roe v Wade times, pre-women in the workforce times, pre-women having financial independence times, pre-no fault divorce times, and pre-women having a right to work times. He has blatantly advocated for women staying in abusive marriages, for example. His hyper-focus on "hetero nuclear family" as the premier formulation for adding value to society is dogmatic and downright bizarre in addition to being vastly out of touch with the realities of our times, both economically and socially. It would not even be feasible for our economy to go back 60+ years in the way he envisions, nor would the majority of Americans want that. Vance is a weirdo, plain and simple. He's out to lunch.

This post menopausal grandma and cat owner is voting BLUE! I’m sick of JD’s BS.
In June, Vance voted against IVF-a procedure that brings over a million babies into the world in the U.S. each year. IVF completed my family after a decade of trying and six heartbreaking miscarriages. Without it, our story, and countless others, would be different. By voting against IVF, Vance isn’t just opposing a medical procedure-he’s turning his back on the hope and joy it brings to millions of families. My family will never support someone who would deny others the chance to experience that same blessing.
Liar! the total # is barely 1 million total IVF total in USA. Why do you have to lie on such a grand scale? Maybe you should let your personal care physician know about your problem.
He's as irrational as Trump.
He could have said that it was a grandma who wanted to be there, but he turned it into a role, not a labor of love. Something that’s THE role in life post menopausal. Geez. What a schmuck.

@@joetesta5730 Thanks for making my case! Here it is folks, incarnate.

Chicago Facing Measles Outbreak in Migrant Shelters
FAIR Take | April 2024
Measles had been virtually eliminated in the United States, but due to the sheer scale of illegal immigration from countries with little to no healthcare, the disease continues to be reintroduced by migrants settling in communities nationwide. Crowded sanctuary cities have proven particularly susceptible to serious diseases brought in by illegal aliens. Now, recent reports indicate that Chicago is in the midst of a measles outbreak in city shelters housing more than 10,400 migrants.
So far, the measles outbreak is mostly concentrated in migrant shelters in the city but may be spreading. In the first three months of 2024, Chicago has had 31 confirmed cases of measles, 21 of these cases in children under five years old. Even after the city administered 4,500 doses of the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccines to migrants following the first measles case in city shelters, the disease has persisted. Many migrant children staying in these shelters are enrolled in Chicago public schools and pose a risk of spreading the disease to American school-aged children. As of September 2023, more than 2,000 illegal aliens are enrolled in Chicago public schools, with between 40-50 enrolling in a single elementary school.
The measles outbreak has caused health concerns for city residents. Chicago health officials say that the migrant population there, mainly from Venezuela, comes largely from collapsed healthcare systems with no reliable public health data. In most cases, it is nearly impossible to determine how many, if any, aliens are vaccinated when they arrive in the United States. This puts the most s

Also remember that Trump took NO SALARY during his first term and wasn't involved in shady under-the-table foreign entanglements that endangered Americans but enriched his own coffers (including the sudden revelation of Hunter's astonishing talent (???) at art - - WHO KNEW?).
