    Damn where has this Erik/Christine kiss been hiding all my life? One of the very best I've seen, Trista nearly makes the Phantom topple over with surprise and then man she just goes for it. The passion is so there on this one/

    Yay! Someone posted TMG as Phantom! I got to see him on the tour when it last come through my town. TMG was my first Raoul live. And he was my final Phantom to see live. My favorite thing about TMG's Phantom was his kiss with Christine. He actually held her as they kissed, may not have been intentional for the character but it worked in my eyes! These are the same 3 actors I got to see when I last saw Phantom! I forever love Phantom of the Opera! Thank you!

    I cry no matter which version I see, and end up petting the screen repeating, "Don't cry, don't cry." Over and over again. I'm not sure if I'm telling Erik not to cry, or myself.

    I liked this Christine, she was entertaining. Like at 2:37, when the Phantom lets Raoul in so easily, she's like "I don't trust it..." And then throwing down the veil at 4:13 made me laugh

    I feel the phantom's pain at the end, and it's because I experienced something very similar when I was younger

    I think one reason they do it is that it's a way of conveying that the story is taking place in a foreign country (sometimes American actors do that for other foreign-set shows, too, like Les Misérables). Another reason may be that people think it sounds better to sing in a British accent--and for some sounds, I agree that it sounds less harsh to hold the British-style vowel than the American-style vowel. But I'm no expert, so take that for what it's worth.

    I saw this tour in Cleveland on 8-7-10. The performance I saw had Kelly Jeanne Grant, the tour alternate, as Christine. (I loved the show; my mom's only complaint is that while the pyrotechnics were good, there was just too much opera.)

    I just noticed that the lyrics "so, do you end your days with me? or do you send him to his grave?" were the phantom saying the same thing in two different ways. I think the lyrics were supposed to be, "so do you spend your days with me, or do you send him to his grave?" or something like that, because the point of no return was supposed to be an ultimatum. of course all writers goof every now and then.

      I always viewed it as her growing old and dieing with him (ending her days being dieing eventually)

    • @ak12montvale
      @ak12montvale 7 лет назад +8

      lol the line just saying pick me and live with me forever or he dies. End your days with someone just means grow old and die together like a married couple

    • @paulfaulkner5786
      @paulfaulkner5786 6 лет назад +3

      I think the difficulty is the use of the term "end your days with me." He is telling Christine if she spends the rest of her life with him, the Phantom, he will let Raoul live. But if she chooses to leave, he will kill Raoul (send him to his grave.)
      I think people misinterpret "end your days," as meaning "stop your days with me." I think Hart would have better made his point clear with the addition of a 'p:' "So do you spend your days with me, or do you send him to his grave?"

    • @princedonovaughn1182
      @princedonovaughn1182 5 лет назад +2

      Actually that's intentional. Look at the rest of what he says "Either way you choose you can not win," he's telling her she can either look at it as loosing him or loosing Raoul. If she leaves it's her decision on who she's loosing.
