  • Saddlebag Contents. What should I really carry in my saddlebags, panniers, boxes or general luggage when riding a motorcycle. Should the saddlebag contents just reflect the type of journey your are likely to do or should your saddlebags be full of equipment, tools and contents that you think you might need at some point in the future. What do you think your saddlebag contents be?

For me, it depends on what or where i am going, but I carry a tire repair kit on all of my motorcycles and roadside service/towing.

Here is what I always carry. Tool kit, rain gear, gloves, bottle of water. Air pump. On longer junts its jacket and extra clothes for that unexpected over night.
    Shiny side up 👍

And...... don't forget to set the pincode into your bike, so you can get home, if your keyfob is lost or the battery is empty !

Tools wise, I carry the tools to take a wheel out or adjust the chain as this is about as much as you can do at he side of the road. The only other thing is anything I need to do at the side of the road I put in the pannier nearest the curb so I am not stepping out into the road.

Basic tool kit, mobile phone, breakdown and recovery card, waterproofs. But one item I'm never without which has rescued me and quite a few other bikers in the past ...... battery jump pack. Not much bigger than an iPhone, can be used as a power bank, has a built in torch and it cranks my Harley Twin cam 103ci faster than the on board battery!

Good list, I have a jump pack but jumping a sport glide is a nightmare to do

I think I live in the same area as you (based on having seen you at Reading HD). The biggest motorcycling issue I have is where to go when I fancy a ride out but don't want to go on the same old routes/destinations. How about a video on where to go for a, in a day ride out? Talking about the South East really. I do appreciate wrong time of the year but still a useful video (or series of videos) all the same. Thanks

Good topic Rev, I carry a wet weather gear, a plastic mug (like you take camping) never know when you need to get a drink, and a roll of toilet paper just in case you get caught short 😄.

Whenever I do rides outside of my city (with a population of 13 million), it’ll always be group rides.. I always hope that other riders carry tools and repair equipment, so I’ve never bothered to carry these !

If you have big saddlebags I'd suggest carrying a ten foot woman. If the panniers aren't big enough maybe you could carry two five-footers that you can screw together...
