    This is the lens that ive been using for maybe last 2 years, it gives very pleasing results. And because of it i decided to go all in, and got myself my first real camera gear for macro. I love to go for photowalks around the forest so much, its super relaxing. Im calling it catching pokemon in real life ;D.
    Great video as always.

    Thanks for showing the Pixel some love. Starting with 8 pro model you have access to full manual controls, including manual focus with live focus peaking.
    I'm also sometimes using the Apexel 100 mm (previous clip-on revision) on a phone and took some quality shots with it, including an amazingly lucky encounter with a docile hornet. Because, you know, the best camera is the one you have on you. In good lighting scenario and mounted on the main phone lens it can easily trade blows with real camera coupled with macro lens, minus the 100% crop detail of course.

    If you are giving feedback to Apexel, perhaps suggest adding a couple of 1/4" threaded holes to the frame for using a mini tripod.

    Woooow thanks man! I had no idea you could use the lightroom app to access all manual camera settings..😅I also own a pixel phone and it drove me nuts for so long not having manual focus available...😤 That clip-on lens looks very nice. I planned to get one of the om though camera for better everyday id shots but that seems another great option!👍

    Fun! I might try this as the lens seems quite affordable and your review gives me some confidence that the quality is well beyond the cheap eBay lenses that I tried on my phone a long time ago. The thing that gives me hesitation is that I feel the phone should have the power and capability to do the focussing and focus stacking for me. Moving a slider up and down while trying to hold my phone steady would be well beyond my capability.

      I believe there are apps that can do focus bracketing within the app, so that would solve that issue

    Thanks for the video. I have the 100mm Apexel, but haven't really done anything with it. I might give it another shot, but possibly my pixel 9 pro xl is just too wide for holder. Thanks also for the tip on focus stacking and using the LR camera.

    Alexis, I was wondering if you would entertain the idea of doing a photo-processing video. I am specifically interested in how you create the complimentary border above and below your 1.91 : 1 formatted shots, and also how you export your photos to maximize Instagram sharpness and resolution (despite Instagram's compression algorithm). Or any other tips and tricks you think worthy. Thank you.

    Thanks for this very good video. Apexel has been innovative, and your demonstration has convinced me to order the zoom lens with the CPL filter plus the FL-26 lens light. I have been pondering for a while about the ways to do focus bracketing with a cell phone. I normally use a DSLR with a KuangRen twin flash and a diffuser, using a 100 mm Laowa macro lens. It provides high performance at the cost of cumbersome equipment (my photos on iNaturalist, personal tag cback). I have a Google Pixel 7 Pro and as you mentioned the Google app is limited. Assuming that I switch to manual focus mode, I thought I could do focus bracketing by holding the trigger button on the screen while moving forward withe cell (which is what I do with the DSLR), which is equivalent to burst mode on a digital camera. Have you tested this technique?

    • @naturefold
      @naturefold  15 дней назад

      That technique would probably work, there are also apps that can do focus bracketing in app - I just didn't have the time to research those before filming this video

    Maybe I missed it, but what phone and which of its lenses/cameras did you clip the Apexel lenses to? I think that's an important piece of information.

    Congrats on sponsor. Ring light model, a plus. Of course, expect that EXIF lens data will not be recorded - got to do that ourselves, somehow. Yes? Also, does LR have lens profiles for these add-ons? Would be a plus when correcting for distortion and fringing, but we’d have to manually ID the lens in the app.

    • @naturefold
      @naturefold  20 дней назад +1

      I don't think profiles would work for these unfortunately, as the amount and location of vignetting and aberration is very dependent on the phone camera and how well you align the lens with the clip.
