Great list! I love having seasoned anime veterans filter out notable anime, but sometimes diving in without knowing anything about an anime can be a fun experience too
Alot of these shows I already watched but when he said princess tutu I died laughing and was like wtf. Right away he was like i know what your thinking 🤣🤣
At first I was suprised, and maybe even a little upset that you chose the original FMA over Brotherhood, but when I heard your reasoning I totally agreed. I always count myself lucky that I saw the orginal first, because if I had seen Brotherhood first I don't think I would have been able to sit through the original.
i don't understand that reasoning! my reason for watching brotherhood was because the first one had major logical errors in the plot that made the anime look rushed. To me brotherhood telled a complete story with a lot more of sense. In other words, I changed the badly made fma, for the well made fma, hence I could go only go in one direction, and that is towards fma:bro. Same conclusion, different cause. Explain me yours, please
Soul Eater was a good choice, but I'm still waiting for them to make a "Brotherhood version" of it....... yeah i know i'm gonna wait for a loooooooooooooooong time.
Jaja Jinks Yaaaaaa, we dont really talk about Not!...... It was nice to see Black Star running around the school some times but it is still a yuri romcom essentially.
+JakexSpace I think we all feel the same: I wanna see more DTK stuff, that's my favorite character of comedy relief in all anime: that OCD with orderliness is so freaking awesome it cracks me up every ... single ... time!
"Steins;Gate's opening is one of the best in existence" "That's what _I_ think" - And you, sir... o-oh my god, you are so goddamn correct... that DAMN opening gives me the chills and the excited grins every single time... Dx
I'm a Japanese anime fan and you made me want to watch ones I haven't tried yet. Your reviews will definitely be informative to many, many Japanese anime fans (if only were they in Japanese...). I really hope you keep it up. My respect from Japan.
Full list: 1) Cowboy Bebop 2) Trigun 3) Neon Genisis Evangelion 4) Full Metal Alchemist (2003) 5) Akira 6) Anything by Ghibli 7) Full Metal Panic 8) Ghost in the Shell 9) Baccano 10) Mamoru Hosoda (The Girl who Leapt Through Time) (Summer Wars) (Wolf Children) (Digimon the Movie R-Game) 11) Mushi-Shi 12) Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue) (Paprika) (Tokyo Godfathers) (Millenium Actress) 13) Black lagoon 14) Kara no Kyokai (Garden of Sinners) 15) Gankutsuou 16) Clannad 17) Princess Tutu 18) Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni (when they cry) 19) Code Geass 20) Yoshitoshi ABE (Serial Experiments Lain) (Texhnolyze) (NieA Under7) (Haibane renmei) 21) Haruhi Suzumiya 22) Spice and wolf 23) Steins;Gate 24) Anohana 25) Soul Eater Seeing as I have only seen the Ghibli films, I'll use this as a checklist
Shouldn't you guys post your own comments to GR if you don't like the list instead of replying to boredom245? And GR hates read the manga endings and all anime on the list are finished and dubbed. So obviously HxH wouldn't be on the list.
***** death note is crap after episode 24! Before that though, it is probably one of the best animes ever made! Such a shame it was ruined by a third of it's episodes.
Randal Privett I dont agree with it being crap, indeed the level was lower than the first part of the serie, but as you say, it's probably one of the best manga/animes ever, it deserves a place on that list, specially when there are titles like soul eater... cmon haha
***** i mean death note, i can't deny it ...was good overall, but i think if they would have handled the last bit more carefully it could have been the holy grail! I guess i'll always be butthurt because of how upset the last bit of the anime made me. It went from being over the top amazing to just acceptable.
I was fully looking to give this list hell.. but it is actually a really good and thoughtful one. Honestly can't complain. I would have loved to see Welcome To The NHK, Elfen Lied, Gurren Lagann, Eureka Seven, Ergo Proxy, or Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team on the list but we all have our own personal preferences. Really well done. Hope you don't get too much flak from the casual anime watchers screaming for Naruto, Bleach, Sword Art Online, and others.
I think they should reboot Soul Eater like they did with FMA Brotherhood. there is a point in the manga where it branches off in a different direction than the anime. I love the Soul Eater anime but the manga had a little more going for it. the side character actually have their own plots and twists. I would recommend you read the manga starting at the war with arachne. That is where the manga and the anime split off from each other. and the things that happen are just amazing. all i can say is there are some pretty awesome changes.
TL;DW Cowboy Bebop Trigun Neon Genesis Evangelion Fullmetal Alchemist Akira Anything by Studio Ghibli Full Metal Panic Ghost in the Shell Baccano! Anything by Mamoru Hosoda Mushi-shi Anything by Satoshi Kon Black Lagoon Kara no Kyōkai Gankutsuou Clannad Princess Tutu Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Code Geass Anything by Yoshitoshi Abe Haruhi Suzumiya Spice and Wolf Steins;Gate Anohana Soul Eater
Fun Fact: The original Fullmetal Alchemist manga creator asked the creators over at Bones to make a different ending for the anime, because she believed that their ending or story would be better then her own, and wanted to develop her characters more, giving the creators freedom to make it darker and more mature. When she finished watching the anime, she praised the the creators view of the Homunculi and their back-stories and motives, saying that they were better than her own.
No matter what she says, I still enjoyed Brotherhood much more than the original, and thought the ending was way better and made more sense. But to each their own I guess...
samasima I do like the ending to brotherhood, but I prefer FMA's ending because its so dark and portrays true equivalent exchange. Plus the movie ending is kinda like Brotherhoods, you should go watch it, its really good.
***** completely different, the movie ends with them in Germany, in the other one it ends with Ed having a family with Winry, and i liked the character Ling from brotherhood (personal opinion)
The final episode of Welcome to the NHK honestly pissed me off, but otherwise yes, it was pretty neat (I won't go into detail on why because, well, spoilers)
***** that too, but basically that it seemed like the main guy's intention on doing whatever he wanted to do was merely so that the weird foreshadowing animation that was in Episode 1's intro could be re-used, and not because it was in any way logical at that given point in time. Going more into detail would be spoilery, but I think you get what I mean - why the f*** was he doing what he was doing taking into consideration what he went there for? That was so stupid XD
***** Hah, it's not even really the surreality, I just wrote that up to be a part of the main guy's psychosis and delusions which also made him hide, in fact, them being a representation of the main guy's delusional thought pattern about how others possibly perceive him. What ticked me off was the whole self-sacrifice thing, you know what I mean.
Awesome, looks like I have several things to watch over the next few months now. :) Some of my recommendations: - Psycho-Pass (psychological, dystopian, cyberpunk cop show) - Durarara!! (urban fairy tale told in a similar manner to Baccano!) - Fate Zero & Unlimited Blade Works (epic about conflicting legends and philosophies) - Monster (basically modern(ish)-day Frankenstein, but with loads of characters each with complex motivations) - Mononoke (series of ghost stories where humans are the most terrifying monsters of all)
***** I actually hadn't watched Mushishi at that time. If I had, I'd definitely have put it on that list. However, Mononoke is another somewhat obscure, fairly similar anime - but with more of a horror bent to it. I'd recommend giving it a shot if you did like Mushishi.
Nice list overall! Props for ABe! The only really thing missing here imo is the director Masaaki Yuasa. If you haven´t seen anything made by him yet, go! Just go! Kaiba, Mind Game, Ping Pong the Animation or Tatami Galaxy... Which one doesn´t matter. All masterpieces!
+Jiraiya Sannin Except for the fact that he explicitly said in the video that this is not a count down video and that this list is in no particular order.
i subscribed the moment princess tutu was shown !!! its not ever discussed its underrated and one of my childhood animes and ill never be ashamed of mentioning it in my favourites !! thnx man i feel good tht im not the only one !!
I totally agreed with Clannad, Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, Miyazaki films, Higurashi (lolz), Steins;Gate, AnoHana, and Baccano, but I think Monster is missing :D
hmm interesting alright then. and by hard do you mean emotional or just difficult? if emotional then yes. if difficult then i'd say at first yes but when it picks up, it really gets going.
This is my favorite Glass Reflections video of all time, for one reason. It compelled me to watch Baccano! .... And that was quite frankly one of the greatest viewing decisions that I have ever made. I finished the last episode and watched the entire series again immediately thereafter. Thank you. I think I'll go watch some Isaac and Miria out-takes now.
+Michael Weldon If you're a ban of Baccano!!, I'd suggest watching Durarara!! It's got the same concept as Baccano. Separate characters, separate plotlines that eventually meld together into one magnificent event.
+Michael Weldon agreed , same here , i watch this regularly as a check list and his explanation are very accurate , all of these are brilliant shows and movies.
Great list, but I'm gonna add a few: -Madoka Magica (you mentioned it, but it didn't get a proper spot) -Death Note (same as Madoka) -Fate/Zero (dude... how could you leave this one out??!) -Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (must see mecha full of awesome manliness) -Toradora (fantastic romantic comedy with drama) Other than all of those that you left out, that's a pretty great list.
I can't even hear the themes to clannad or anohana without tearing up man. If a show has that much of an impact on you then it's doing something right.
I really agree with your list, but my list would be 1. Cowboy Bepop 2. Spice and Wolf 3. ANY GHIBLI MOVIE (Grave of the fireflies/Princess Mononoke/Spirited Away 4. Attack On Titan 5. Air Gear 6. Madoka Magica 7. Fullmetal Alchemist (2003-2004) 8. Black Lagoon 9. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni 10. Clannad/After Story 11. Casshern Sins 12. Baccano 13. Eureka Seven 14. Trigun 15. Haibane Renmei 16. Serial Experiements Lain 17. Naruto/Naruto Shippuden 18. Neon Genesis Evangelion (End Of Evangelion as well) 19. Ghost In the Shell (Complete Series) 20. Darker then black 21. Soul Eater 22. Death Note 23. One Piece 24. Fooly Cooly 25. Mirai Nikki Side note: My one of favorite anime that didn't make this list that everyone should watch would probably be Fate Zero, even though some of these animes will end up being watched before Fate Zero.
You kinda put three of the shounen series he said he wouldn't put on the list for the reason that they have such a following If you don't watch them your not an anime fan, for no reason
I totaly agree with you, but, like he said in the video, he knows that you wonder why he didn't recommend classics like Bleach, Naruto, Attack on Titan and others ".....because of their massive amount of popularity will have you watching them anyway regardless if i recommend them, or not..."
but i don't get why he wouldn't recommend Death Note, Attack On Titan and others since they are very popular plus these anime are perfect gateway anime for people who don't know anime. I mean even though I love Code Geass and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, there are fan service in those anime and for beginners I don't think these anime would change their view on what they think anime is really about.
Smitha Karuna Exactly, good point. Death note and Clannad were my two gateway anime and they had zero fan service so I took them both much more seriously.
I honestly like brotherhood better than 2003. I watched 2003 first, but I found it got boring after 2003. I finished it, and then watched the movie, then moved on to brotherhood, and I enjoyed it more.
***** you do have to admit though, the 2003 version gives some attachment to characters that isn't done as much as in brotherhood. Plus you get episodes that serve no purpose plot wise but are hilarious none the less, like all the stuff with black hayate.
***** same here. 2003 was being made as the manga was but reached a point where the manga couldn't keep up, so they had to just wing some stuff and make up new stuff. There's things they did great, and things they did not so great. Brotherhood was better because they actually had the complete story to work off of
Vladimir Lorenzo Personally the manga is a lot better than the anime but I sill have like 53 episoodes to get through in brotherhood so time will tell.
Wow! So happy to see Baccano and Mushishi on that list :D . They are some of my personal favorites as well, but was under the impression that they weren't very well-know
Hands down my favorite anime is Berserk. I have yet to find an anime with such engrossing character arc as Guts'. And the fact that it only got one season and a couple of retreads of said season is nothing shy of criminal.
My problem with the original wasn't the fact that it deviated from the manga. In fact, it had some good ideas. My problem with FMA 03 was how disappointingly the villains were defeated. SPOILER AHEAD: Bradley died from pure stupidity, Dante ran like a little bitch and got eaten offscreen, Envy got pinned to the ground for all of COS, and Eckhart got shot a few times and fell after giving the Elric brothers a big challenge. Say what you will about Father being a generic doomsday villain, but at least he put up a fight.
MrSoullessness I understand that but then why subjugate yourself to mediocrity?...why not have the best o.o...well i cant even say that cuz im sure some people prefer it to brotherhood....ah well whichever works, as long as you watch one of them =P
Haha, looking at this vid now I remember how I got into watching Spice and Wolf... Thanks mate it was an amazing experience. Truly ungrateful on our part, we always tend to forget who recommended it.
Arkada you earned a lifelong subscriber with the Spice and Wolf portion. I disagree with you on a lot of things, but I respect you as a reviewer after your kind words toward my favorite anime.
Ok, one question I've had for a while: Is your jacket a British Royal Guard's coat? Or a reproduction of one? If not, what is it? Please tell me, it's been driving me crazy!
+Zaifod Beebelbrox Neither technically. It's based off a design by the mangaka of Hetalia Axis Powers that she did for her personification character of Canada. Though the closest real life equivalent would indeed be the British Royal Guard as far as my research says.
If you're going to watch FMA, I recommend you watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It's closer to the manga and has no filler. It's also longer and better animated.
Or do as he recommended and watch first the 2003 series, then Brotherhood. The reason is that the 2003 series goes more in-depth with the earlier arcs of Ed joining the military etc, while Brotherhood skims over that to get to the meat of the series. That way you won't watch "summary first, full story second", but will get the full package of the earlier arcs with the 2003 series, then when you go to Brotherhood, those will feel more like recaps of the earlier arcs and you can really get your teeth into the story of it.
Oh, and Conqueror of Shamballa. If you watch the 2003 series, watch Conqueror of Shamballa afterwards. There's no excuse not to, since it really ties up the loose ends of the end of the 2003 series and resolves almost everything in the plot.
Fate/zero is most defiantly one of the best out there, and that's the problem. If you start at the top the only way to go is down, and nobody wants that.
Omniorcus I agree, though there ARE other anime that actually made it onto the list that would be considered at the 'top' alongside Fate/Zero (Bebop, Evangelion, Sinners, Higurashi)
OH MY GOD!!!!! THIS CAME OUT 6 YEARS AGO. THAT MEAN I HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS FOR AT LEAST 6 YEARS. I HAVE FINISHED UNI IN THAT TIME. THE WHOLE UNI, INCLUDING MASTERS!!!!!! KEEP ON WITH THE GREAT WORK
This is very classy, you've earned +1 sub sir. Also I know you aren't a huge fan of the usual big three. You've said that your main complaint is that they are too long, but would you consider reviewing their arcs instead? The Soul Society arc from Bleach along with the Pain Invasion arc from Naruto Shippuden are definitely ones you should consider (I would give a One Piece arc but I honestly can't say I follow it). Masashi Kishimoto has said that the Naruto manga will be ending this year and Bleach should end soon as well (I'd be surprised if it lasted longer than two more years) so you'll be able to put a number on their episodes at least.
I'm still yet to watch Steins;Gate but i already watched Higurashi and i can tell you're in for a wild ride. If it's truly scary or not will depend only on your judgement but i for sure can say it's a pretty entertaining mistery story.
It feels so wonderful being able to say I've watched everything on your list XD I'm just going to continue on my merry way and maybe go over some of your other reviews like you said and see if I can pick up something else I haven't watched that you recommend to watch first. Thanks for the awesome list, Arkada!!!
After watching around 200 anime (films and series together) in the last 3,5 years I must say that your list here is by far the best compilation I came across for a newbie in anime. Sure it is not complete as no top list ever can be. And obviously ther were titles not really to my liking. But most of these shows are proven classics or just highly acclaimed series for good reasons. And the list shows that the massive differences in anime can help that basically anybody can find something to like. Everytime someone asks what a freshman in anime should watch, I send them here.
1.- One Piece 2.- Dragon Ball Z 3.- Cowboy Bebop 4.- Ghost in the Shell 5.- Hellsing 6.- Code Geass 7.- Neon Genesis Evangelion 8.- Death Note 9.- Rurouni Kenshin 10.- Slam Dunk 11.- Akira 12.- Berserk 13.- Welcome to the NHK 14.- Steins Gate 15.- Full Metal Alchemist 16.- Dragon Ball 17.- Bleach 18.- Naruto 19.- Vampire Hunter D 20.- Attack on Titan 21.- Fairy Tail 22.-Hunter X Hunter 23.- Ninja Scroll 24.- Saint Seiya 25.- Claymore
TheReluctantOne One piece is really good, if nothing convinces you to start from the beggining, you should watch the whitebeard war arc, is so amazing. Only parts I really hates bout OP is that some of the comedy is pretty cringeworthy*cough* franky *cough* and the fanservice...
TheReluctantOne Then One Piece may not be for you, I mean even though it's my favorite show of all time I don't think it's for everyone I mean I got hooked since episode 4 the first appearance of Akagami no Shankusu, However, if you are still not hooked after the Arlong Park Arc then you should not watch it because it ain't for you. I do have to say that you are on the minority saying that it is a "joke"
***** I'm sorry you are right the vast majority of anime/manga viewers/readers obviously thinks One Piece is a joke, well done sir for identifying my mistake. Peace
Can't decide whether Fate Zero, Death Note, Geass, Steins gate or Hellsing Ultimate are my all time FAVORITE. But I'd recommend them to anyone wanting a compelling watch.
If even one more person decides to give Mushi Shi a try based on this, that's great!! And btw, imo it's not depressing, it is philosophical. It's a show that makes you think and feel things!
I just finished FMA: Brotherhood and was looking for more anime to watch, and this comment made me decide that Mushi Shi will be my next show! I've been looking for a philosophical show like that :)
@@HeyGrouch ooh cool cool!! Another good mellow, thinking and pondering show to try is Kino's Journey and Kino's Wonderful World. The og is early 2000's and the reboot is much newer. They're both really great and cover different stories so both are very much worth a watch. The show follows a wandering mc like Mushi Shi, but Kino travels around a dystopian world from country to country staying only 3 days. So you get a completely different vibe in each ep and the countries are very segregated walled etc, it's interesting to follow on these little adventures and see the laws, lives and cultures of these weird places. ✌️
Man this vid takes me back. Remembering when highschool me started watching anime. Good times. Thx for the recommendations Arkada, 15 y/o me from way back when really enjoyed them
How's about the Top 20 "Oldtaku's" Favorite Anime? 20 great anime series from the year 2000 and lower, that the modern anime fan may have not known existed.
I would recommend the anime Magi to you GR. It may seem a bit cliche for the first couple minutes (before the opening), and then a bit childish and info dumpy up until about half way into the first episode. Then it's all fan-hitting-shit from there, at least for a few episodes. It circulates back between the hellhole that is their world, and the bits and pieces of fun that is set by the characters. It's kinda like Higurashi No Naki Koro Ni in that perspective, but only slightly. The shit that hits the fan here is quite different from that which is When They Cry. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this particular anime. I'm not expecting a full review of it, just your thoughts in a message or comment at least.
For Archives Purposes: 1. Cowboy Bebop 2. Trigun 3. Neon Genesis (pre-reboot) 4. Full Metal Alchemist 5. Akira 6. Anything by Studio Ghibli 7. Full Metal Panic! 8. Ghost in the Shell 9. Baccano! 10. Anything by Mamoro Hosoda 11. Mushi-Shi 12. Anything by Satoshi Kon 13. Black Lagoon 14. Kara No Kyokai 15. Gankutsuo (The Count of Monte Cristo) 16. Clannad 17. Princess Tutu 18. Higurashi No aku Koro Ni 19. Code Geass 20. Any Series with Yoshitoshi Abe 21. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 22. Spice and Wolf 23. Steins; Gate 24. Anohana 25. Soul Eater
t0329097i Most normal people don't pirate for the sake of being cheap bastards, but rather it's the problem of availability. I mean, if you can't find it on Steam, iTunes, or Amazon (just to mention the big guys for each respective medium) what else can you do? Not to mention the prices can skyrocket if you're getting into a series when it's 100+ episodes in.
Hazel Chaser That was just an example of a convenient media outlet. If steam actually sold anime? Damn, I don't think Gabe's bank account is big enough to hold all that cash.
BakedCookie That's actually a decent idea, since steam is beginning to get support from Japanese devs (Look at final fantasy and Ys games on there, for example).
You are the first popular anime reviewer that recommends the original Full Metal Alchemist over Brotherhood. Just because of that I will try to watch your other recommendations.
+Tristamisawesome SoisRogueandPegboardNerds Wow, you also recommended Full Metal Panic, fine, I will go watch everything I didn't watch from this list.
Wish that Welcome to the NHK! and Monster would have made the list! And also Hajime no Ippo, since it is probably one of the best sports anime I've seen so far.But awesome list man! I have a lot of watchign to do!
RickyX64 Even though I love Gurren Lagann, I didn't bring it up since I assumed Arkada wouldn't think it was for everyone. But that doesn't mean it is less epic though! :D
While I don't agree with some animes not being in the list, I love this list and would recommend it to someone just starting anime. This list comprises of every anime that highlights each great facet of the anime artwork. This is also why I love your reviews, its super thorough
I agree with the list, but i think instead of "Kara no Kyoukai", it should be "Anything by Ufotable". I mean kara no kyoukai is good, but fate zero was also something too good to miss.
+TheDVNGaming what i hate about that review is that he only gave it 8.32 or something like that, just like attack on titan, wich is total bullshit to me
10 years later. I am sure you don't have time to read comments on old videos like this, but this was the list that got me into anime proper after watching the odd movie. Thank you.
You sir, need some cookies. As evident from your list, you have a 'refined' taste in anime. Haven't seen kaiji but seeing that u placed it so high up on your list, maybe i'll give it a try. If you haven't already, give steins;gate a try. Its bloody brilliant and i'm sure you'll like it. Good day sir
Gary Campbell yeah spice and wolf is awsome, can't say its my "favourite" (there are 3/4 series i would put as my favourites i can't name a single series), spice and wolf would definatly go in my top ten. i gave it a 9/10.
Ashley Forman cant really tell you why spice and wolf is my favorite, it just is, i like some other series to but they dont really compare much of the story of spice and wolf :D
List of Animations in the Video: 1. Cowboy Bebop 2. Trigun 3. Neon Genesis Evangelion 4. Fullmetal Alchemist 5. Akira 6. Anything Studio Ghibli 7. Full Metal Panic 8. Ghost in The Shell 9. Baccano! 10. Mamoru Hosoda 11. Mushi-Shi 12. Satoshi Kon 13. Black Lagoon 14. Kara No Kyokai 15. Gankustuou 16. Clannad 17. Princess Tutu 18. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni 19. Code Geass 20. Yoshitoshi ABE 21. Haruhi Suzumiya 22. Spice and Wolf 23. Steins;Gate 24. Anohana 25. Soul Eater
Anyone know an anime i'd enjoy considering my top 5 is the following... 1. Mirai Nikki 2. Death Note 3. Higurashi 4. Code Geass 5. Shiki any suggestions would be great as i haven't been able to find an anime on the same level as these in ages (are there any?!)
Have you watched Steins;Gate ? It's a show that is VERY slow in the start but once you reach a certain point (~episode 12) I can almost guarantee you that you will not be able to stop watching it. Very unique anime. Obviously there are people that would disagree with me but after seeing your list, we seem to have a similar taste.
Jordan Sanders watched berserk wasn't the greatest thing ever but i enjoyed it, and i'm currently watching claymore not sure whether i like it yet but ty
I FELL OFF MY CHAIR WHEN HE DIDN'T MENTION FATE/ZERO He's said in the past that it's one his favorites so it really surprised me when it didn't make the list. I also love that anime, go watch it if you haven't, it's amazing :)
he probably forgot to say it. And all the anime he mentioned are good so i'm ok with that... but seriously people who read this comment, watch fate/zero
my recommended anime 1.Watamote 2.Arakawa under the bridge (and the season 2) 3.Welcome to the NHK 4.Oreimo 5.Code geass 6.Soul eater 7.Gundam Build Fighters 8.A channel
There are some things I feel should have been on this list, but weren't either because you have different tastes than me or haven't heard about them. those would be 1) Anything by Studio SHAFT 2) anything written by Gen Urobuchi 3) bokurano 4) Mirai Nikki 5) Yuru Yuri 6) Chunibyo If you're into reading manga, there's a few that were never animated and a few that the anime just completley butchers, so here 1) Narutaru (deconstruction of the Mon genre. Written by the same person as Bokurano. The anime butchered it) 2)Elfen lied (also butchered by the anime) 3) Pupa (Horror manga. Pretty sick stuff in it. Anime butchered it) And lastly, there's a visual novel written by Gen Urobuchi that was never animated. There's an American comic book out that is vaguely based on the game, but with American ideas added. I think I can safely say that it is the worst americanizations I have ever set eyes on. The visual novel is called Saya no Uta. It's pretty sick shit in it, so if you're not into incredibly disturbing and terrifying shit, don't play it. It's fantastic, but bloody and... creepy is a huge understatement. At any rate, I recommend it.
***** Well, I guess we're all entitled to our own opinions. I personally feel that Urobuchi is fantastic. What is it that you don't like about his works? And would you like to offer up some suggestions?
sparkle1princess As Arkada stated: it's his list. Plus, I think most of the stuff on his list is great, so I won't suggest anything. I WILL, however, tell you why I don't like Urobuchi that's much. In my opinion, his works have more looks than actual substance, which is something that doesn't work for me. A cool idea that is wonderfully animated is not enough to make a masterpiece. You need great storytelling and characters for that too, and the characters in Madoka for example are just... empty. The main character of that series barely has a personality in my opinion. I didn't get any enjoyment out of her. Regarding Mirai Nikki: GoatJesus explains why that show sucks a lot better than I ever could, so I'll just link you to his review of it. GoatJesus Reviews: Future Diary / Mirai Nikki
sparkle1princess Nah, he just wants to act like a douchebag. I watched Elfen Lied and enjoyed it but I haven't read the manga. I'll check out the manga, but I prefer to own manga than to read it online. Do you know a good place to buy it for a good price? If not it's fine, I'm sure I can find it myself.
TheGodOfEPICNESS Yeah, I prefer to own the manga also, but Elfen Lied, I don't think, was published in America. I've found it on, I think, Amazon. I don't remember. Sorry I can't help you there. Good luck finding it! And enjoy. It's incredible. Puts the anime to shame.
also i just finished spice and wolf and hulo (i think thats how you spell it) is one of the best anime girls ever fullmetal alchemist is my favorite anime EVER code geass is a close second
I really love your "Lets Jam" Transition. I think it was a spot of genius when you created it, and I really appreciate starting your videos with that cool jump. Thank you for the great reviews and entertaining delivery!
As a long-time anime fan, I can safely decide my tastes and my opportunities for new anime is beyond infinite. I could watch nearly all of these anime/producer's works and probably never be bored again, but I have major issues which I doubt interest any of you past possibly annoying you to the point of a dislike. I personally try to be non-biased, but I have some hard brick walls that block most content from view in regards to anime. #1, I hate Sci-fi. I do not TRY to hate sci-fi, nor am I proud of my hatred of it. I simply find it hard to enjoy and that may only be part of my personal taste, something which I fear may not change very easily. #2, I hate older anime/manga. The older it is the harder it is for me to enjoy. Another part of my taste I suppose, and again something I'm not necessarily proud of, but I watched the first few episodes of Trigun, couldn't get into it. Same with Code Geass, I utterly despise shows featuring giant robots, and I have no clue as of why that is. I simply cannot enjoy them, and it actually bothers me quite a bit. I love Star-Trek, Star-Wars, Dr. Who, and many other old sci-fi shows, but no anime as of yet has managed to be enjoyable for me in those regards. The oldest anime/manga that I have fully enjoyed isn't even that old. Bleach is actually my overall favorite, of course, I have only read the manga, which I still have yet to finish, but at the moment I have read all that is physically possible for me to do so. Anyway, after typing more than I do when I write essays, I'd just like to ask the 2 people who actually fully read this comment (Assuming I'm even THAT popular, which I am not), is there an old/sci-fi anime season that I will enjoy NO MATTER WHAT? I honestly just can't manage to finish the ones I have seen. I think I will try this "Steins Gate" however, as well as that one that I have to go back and learn the name of... *Sigh*
Very good list. Although concerning Soul Eater being complete...I don't know if you can call a crappy gecko-ending that the creators pulled out of their asses because the manga wasn't finished yet, and which makes no sense in the context of the story, "complete". ^^
God I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the ending sucked. I didn't even know anything about the manga etc and even I went "WTH happened here?". So much deus ex machina in those last 15 episodes it hurt.
I just want to make you aware that I, in fact, am binge watching ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS, FROM BEGINNING TO END, because I only care about YOUR recommendations, and only yours honestly
Great list! I love having seasoned anime veterans filter out notable anime, but sometimes diving in without knowing anything about an anime can be a fun experience too
Hey AnimeUproar
5 years late to the party, but my personal all time favorites have always been things I've jumped into completely blindfolded
Alot of these shows I already watched but when he said princess tutu I died laughing and was like wtf. Right away he was like i know what your thinking 🤣🤣

Thank you for your contribution to society.
@@OrionKaelinClips yup still here
At first I was suprised, and maybe even a little upset that you chose the original FMA over Brotherhood, but when I heard your reasoning I totally agreed. I always count myself lucky that I saw the orginal first, because if I had seen Brotherhood first I don't think I would have been able to sit through the original.
i agree if you watched it the other way around you would probally be pissed off at the ending.
i agree with vika both are great the charectors are the same but the storys different this is why i like them both.
So it's a great way to waste your time, or what?
i don't understand that reasoning! my reason for watching brotherhood was because the first one had major logical errors in the plot that made the anime look rushed. To me brotherhood telled a complete story with a lot more of sense. In other words, I changed the badly made fma, for the well made fma, hence I could go only go in one direction, and that is towards fma:bro. Same conclusion, different cause. Explain me yours, please
It's better to watch FMA first, so you can see how shitty it was compared to FMAB..
Soul Eater was a good choice, but I'm still waiting for them to make a "Brotherhood version" of it....... yeah i know i'm gonna wait for a loooooooooooooooong time.
+JakexSpace My god that would be killer :D
+JakexSpace I know right? I want to see that happen pretty badly, too.
+JakexSpace They actually have a "Sisterhood" version of Soul Eater. It's called "Soul Eater Not!", but I didn't really enjoy it.
Jaja Jinks Yaaaaaa, we dont really talk about Not!...... It was nice to see Black Star running around the school some times but it is still a yuri romcom essentially.
+JakexSpace I think we all feel the same: I wanna see more DTK stuff, that's my favorite character of comedy relief in all anime: that OCD with orderliness is so freaking awesome it cracks me up every ... single ... time!
"Steins;Gate's opening is one of the best in existence"
"That's what _I_ think"
- And you, sir... o-oh my god, you are so goddamn correct... that DAMN opening gives me the chills and the excited grins every single time... Dx
Yeeeessss! Steins;Gate is the best. Still impatiently waiting for steins;gate 0, so I can rewatch the first season again!

Seeing as I have only seen the Ghibli films, I'll use this as a checklist
Soul eater is on that list and Death Note is not...fully reliable, sure
Shouldn't you guys post your own comments to GR if you don't like the list instead of replying to boredom245?
And GR hates read the manga endings and all anime on the list are finished and dubbed. So obviously HxH wouldn't be on the list.
***** death note is crap after episode 24! Before that though, it is probably one of the best animes ever made! Such a shame it was ruined by a third of it's episodes.
Randal Privett
I dont agree with it being crap, indeed the level was lower than the first part of the serie, but as you say, it's probably one of the best manga/animes ever, it deserves a place on that list, specially when there are titles like soul eater... cmon haha
*****
i mean death note, i can't deny it ...was good overall, but i think if they would have handled the last bit more carefully it could have been the holy grail! I guess i'll always be butthurt because of how upset the last bit of the anime made me. It went from being over the top amazing to just acceptable.
That moment when I went through the list and have already seen em all. I should take a break and come back within 4 years.
***** Just wait until you forget the majority of a plot and watch it again. Works like a charm.
Did it to gurran lagann worked fine
That profile picture is perfect with your comment.
Well it's been 4 years :)
I mean there is always Soul Eater Not
Iuma Estabrooks sole eater not is the dragonball gt of the series. non-canon and a huge portion of the fans despises it.
I like Soul Eater but, god... Black Star and Kid when he goes on about symmetry can make it so hard to watch sometimes.
+Kevin French I really wish Kid was more serious as he is in the manga
strange to not see Fate/Zero & series in general here since it's one of the best and since you love it Glass.
Steins gate blessed my life
Fuck I just finished Steins;Gate and Re:Zero yesterday and I cannot find something similar now!!! I need another anime like those.
Artorias of the Abyss code geass, Berserk are both excellent and
Monogatari Series.... It's not related with "time travels" but this anime is really good, it's amazing... In my opinion :v
Welp I finished Erased yesterday, closest thing to time travel with good plot I'm gonna get. Was a nice ride.

Appreciate it
+Dive Like Junk thanks a ton brother , may nature bless you with awesomeness. have watched almost half of those , ...
Hunter X hunter?
+AFKAwesome He just listed the anime in the video. It would be great if he time stamped them though.
Fun Fact: The original Fullmetal Alchemist manga creator asked the creators over at Bones to make a different ending for the anime, because she believed that their ending or story would be better then her own, and wanted to develop her characters more, giving the creators freedom to make it darker and more mature. When she finished watching the anime, she praised the the creators view of the Homunculi and their back-stories and motives, saying that they were better than her own.
yes. still its ending is better than brotherhood.
No matter what she says, I still enjoyed Brotherhood much more than the original, and thought the ending was way better and made more sense. But to each their own I guess...
brotherhood ending was better (my own personal opinion)
samasima I do like the ending to brotherhood, but I prefer FMA's ending because its so dark and portrays true equivalent exchange. Plus the movie ending is kinda like Brotherhoods, you should go watch it, its really good.
***** completely different, the movie ends with them in Germany, in the other one it ends with Ed having a family with Winry, and i liked the character Ling from brotherhood (personal opinion)
Who smiled and started nodding when he said "anything by studio ghibli"?
Wait why isn't Gurren Lagann on this list?
WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE?
+xMagno313x I think that this is list mostly for newcomers who haven't watch many anime. Guren langan is NOT for newcomers.
+MrHaganenoEdward It was the first anime I ever watched in it's entirety...LOL
people should watch Gunbuster then Neon Genesis Evangelion then Gurren Laggan
+RandomFlask175 naruto Pokemon and one piece dragon ball were my first anime
Welcome to the NHK should definitely be considered for this list
Oh and also maybe Beck
The final episode of Welcome to the NHK honestly pissed me off, but otherwise yes, it was pretty neat (I won't go into detail on why because, well, spoilers)
and girls bravo
Some of my recommendations:
- Psycho-Pass (psychological, dystopian, cyberpunk cop show)
- Durarara!! (urban fairy tale told in a similar manner to Baccano!)
- Fate Zero & Unlimited Blade Works (epic about conflicting legends and philosophies)
- Monster (basically modern(ish)-day Frankenstein, but with loads of characters each with complex motivations)
- Mononoke (series of ghost stories where humans are the most terrifying monsters of all)
***** I actually hadn't watched Mushishi at that time. If I had, I'd definitely have put it on that list. However, Mononoke is another somewhat obscure, fairly similar anime - but with more of a horror bent to it. I'd recommend giving it a shot if you did like Mushishi.
I love how this list and this channel in general is still relevant
Nice list overall! Props for ABe! The only really thing missing here imo is the director Masaaki Yuasa. If you haven´t seen anything made by him yet, go! Just go! Kaiba, Mind Game, Ping Pong the Animation or Tatami Galaxy... Which one doesn´t matter. All masterpieces!
My top 5 Anime list:
5) Death Note
4) My Strange Addiction
3) Toy Story
2) Shrek
1) Airplane Instructure Videos from the 80's
1/5 you did good
Ayse Can gpod
What in the world is an instructure?
Where the Hell is Cory in the House!?
I laughed way harder at this than I should've..
Saw Higurashi- Fanboyed
Saw Soul Eater- Died for it finally being in a top ten.
Yay those anime
Lol me too!
giselle g xd
+Jiraiya Sannin Except for the fact that he explicitly said in the video that this is not a count down video and that this list is in no particular order.
i subscribed the moment princess tutu was shown !!! its not ever discussed its underrated and one of my childhood animes and ill never be ashamed of mentioning it in my favourites !! thnx man i feel good tht im not the only one !!
I totally agreed with Clannad, Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, Miyazaki films, Higurashi (lolz), Steins;Gate, AnoHana, and Baccano, but I think Monster is missing :D
me full list:
1) Code Geass
2) Monster
3) Fate/Zero
4) Cowboy Bebop
5) Steins;Gate
warm fridge Great list, I have yet to see Monster though. Have you seen FMA?
monster is quite great. and i have only seen fma brohood. been conciderinng watching the original.
warm fridge I've watched both, Brotherhood is better (in my opinion) but the original is still great.
I will watch Monster soon, is it hard to watch?
hmm interesting alright then. and by hard do you mean emotional or just difficult? if emotional then yes. if difficult then i'd say at first yes but when it picks up, it really gets going.
warm fridge I meant difficult, I like emotional shows xD I will watch it soon.
Separate characters, separate plotlines that eventually meld together into one magnificent event.
baccano is my favorite anime ever next to cowboy bebop, so hell yeah man!
The scene with the rope swing is one of the best achievements in anime history. It completely gave me goosebumps
+Michael Weldon agreed , same here , i watch this regularly as a check list and his explanation are very accurate , all of these are brilliant shows and movies.
Clannad, Clannad After Story - My favourite Anime ever!
I know I'm probably a little late, but congrats on 1 million views
Great list, but I'm gonna add a few:
-Madoka Magica (you mentioned it, but it didn't get a proper spot)
-Death Note (same as Madoka)
-Fate/Zero (dude... how could you leave this one out??!)
-Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (must see mecha full of awesome manliness)
-Toradora (fantastic romantic comedy with drama)
Other than all of those that you left out, that's a pretty great list.
I can't even hear the themes to clannad or anohana without tearing up man. If a show has that much of an impact on you then it's doing something right.

Andy Azael Monster is underrated 🤔

I really agree with your list, but my list would be
1. Cowboy Bepop
2. Spice and Wolf
3. ANY GHIBLI MOVIE (Grave of the fireflies/Princess Mononoke/Spirited Away
4. Attack On Titan
5. Air Gear
6. Madoka Magica
7. Fullmetal Alchemist (2003-2004)
8. Black Lagoon
9. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni
10. Clannad/After Story
11. Casshern Sins
12. Baccano
13. Eureka Seven
14. Trigun
15. Haibane Renmei
16. Serial Experiements Lain
17. Naruto/Naruto Shippuden
18. Neon Genesis Evangelion (End Of Evangelion as well)
19. Ghost In the Shell (Complete Series)
20. Darker then black
21. Soul Eater
22. Death Note
23. One Piece
24. Fooly Cooly
25. Mirai Nikki
Side note: My one of favorite anime that didn't make this list that everyone should watch would probably be Fate Zero, even though some of these animes will end up being watched before Fate Zero.
I like you lets be friends.
Attack on titan should be a lot lower
Where's Code Geass?
i only disagree with naruto, but besides that your list is flawless bro!(in my opinion)
You kinda put three of the shounen series he said he wouldn't put on the list for the reason that they have such a following If you don't watch them your not an anime fan, for no reason
I'm sorry, but Death Note deserves a spot on this list....I was very surprised to not see it on here.
levan yelik Soooo true....
yeah me too...
Smitha Karuna
Exactly, good point.
***** i agree but he does have a good point
***** you do have to admit though, the 2003 version gives some attachment to characters that isn't done as much as in brotherhood. Plus you get episodes that serve no purpose plot wise but are hilarious none the less, like all the stuff with black hayate.
Vladimir Lorenzo
I did like 2003, but not as much as brotherhood
***** same here. 2003 was being made as the manga was but reached a point where the manga couldn't keep up, so they had to just wing some stuff and make up new stuff. There's things they did great, and things they did not so great. Brotherhood was better because they actually had the complete story to work off of
Vladimir Lorenzo Personally the manga is a lot better than the anime but I sill have like 53 episoodes to get through in brotherhood so time will tell.
Wow! So happy to see Baccano and Mushishi on that list :D . They are some of my personal favorites as well, but was under the impression that they weren't very well-know
Well, a lot of Animes I like aren't on your list (mirai nikki, deadman wonderland, madoka magika) but at least you mentioned Higurashi so I'm happy
well, mirai nikki has gotten... mixed reactions so its not for everyone.
mirai nikki and deadman are dogpiss. madoka is overhyped.
I put anime where the main character strikes me as a sore loser right into the trash. Just can't stand watching something like that. (Mirai Nikki)
Code Geass . . . definitely my favorite anime of all time. I command you, all of you, to watch it.
Gladly your highness!
Aezy Arts What if I said . . . pretty please with pizza on top?
YES MY LORD!!!!
Hands down my favorite anime is Berserk. I have yet to find an anime with such engrossing character arc as Guts'. And the fact that it only got one season and a couple of retreads of said season is nothing shy of criminal.
YESSS YOU HAVE ALL OF MY FAVORITES INCLUDING TRIGUN!
FMA Brotherhood actually follows the manga...the other made its own random story, of course its all opinionated but Brotherhood was more my cup of tea
He said watch both, but watch 03 first. If you watch brotherhood you most likely wont ever watch 03 because brotherhood is superior to it
MrSoullessness I understand that but then why subjugate yourself to mediocrity?...why not have the best o.o...well i cant even say that cuz im sure some people prefer it to brotherhood....ah well whichever works, as long as you watch one of them =P
Thank you. That's been driving me nuts. Also, great list. I've started Gankutsuou thanks to your recommendation, and I'm loving it!
Canadian troops have something really similar as mess dress.
I think he looks like char from the gundam series. SO MUCH RED
If you're going to watch FMA, I recommend you watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It's closer to the manga and has no filler. It's also longer and better animated.
Yea :)
But personaly I think FMA (not brotherhood) is better cauz its more like tragedy , horror & drama (OvO)
FMA Brotherhood isn't longer lol
Shu Zuen FMA 51 episodes/ FMA: Brotherhood 64 episodes
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fullmetal_Alchemist_(anime)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fullmetal_Alchemist:_Brotherhood
Great list. Would loved to have seen Fate/Zero on there. But amazing video nonetheless.
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Steins;Gate... I have to watch them... xD
They are amazing!! :D
If you can get to episode four of Higurashi you will like it, although I don't know how much more you will watch after that.
arminenreviews nah if u can get through the first 10 seconds of it then you will probably like it
I'm still yet to watch Steins;Gate but i already watched Higurashi and i can tell you're in for a wild ride. If it's truly scary or not will depend only on your judgement but i for sure can say it's a pretty entertaining mistery story.
mandrake01 Stein's Gate has a really off puting start, which was stale (MY OPINION).
It feels so wonderful being able to say I've watched everything on your list XD I'm just going to continue on my merry way and maybe go over some of your other reviews like you said and see if I can pick up something else I haven't watched that you recommend to watch first.
Thanks for the awesome list, Arkada!!!
Wow, good job! I haven't watched even half of these that Arkada mentioned. *sigh* So many animes, so little time.
Dhoulmaguz4ever Ahaha, I just think I have a little too much time on my hands XD You'll get there, just keep going
If I may, I'd recommend a certain anime that pierced the heavens...
I actually waited it to appear on the list but it didnt... thought Im glad somebody mention it :D
I'm surprised Gurren Lagann wasn't on this list, gotta watch all of these tho.

lploverx Well those are my favs you may have different but if you haven't tried One Piece, that's the one I love the most
More Moreviews one piece is a joke I tried watching it 8 times in the past 2 years and I still can't make it past the first season
Peace
Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was worried with your classic approach, but you came back awesome.
Plus Soul Eater, hats off!
Can't decide whether Fate Zero, Death Note, Geass, Steins gate or Hellsing Ultimate are my all time FAVORITE. But I'd recommend them to anyone wanting a compelling watch.
Ever seen Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood. It's better than all of those.
dave smith FMAB is good, but i think Steins Gate and Fate Zero are better than it.
I recently saw baccano, katanagatari, and Kara no kyoukai and highly suggest all of those too.
Awesome! Been waiting for something like this!
You have to finish watching Monster- it'll stand a good chance at making this list.
@@laurabustos6560 Woah that sounds super cool too, I'll watch that after Mushi Shi!
@@HeyGrouch happy watching!!✌️
Man this vid takes me back. Remembering when highschool me started watching anime. Good times. Thx for the recommendations Arkada, 15 y/o me from way back when really enjoyed them
If Arkada recommends, I'll watch.
How's about the Top 20 "Oldtaku's" Favorite Anime? 20 great anime series from the year 2000 and lower, that the modern anime fan may have not known existed.
And thanks for mentioning Jojo!
I just requested that on his newest video. There are quite a few classics like GTO and I think it would be interesting to see what he reccomends.
Plus Sinbad
This is the video I point people to when they ask me what to watch😊

I cant believe you didnt recommend samurai champloo
Same it's much better than bebop
What do you mean by "all of you"
meh
not really im not even an avid fan just really like samurai champloo
While Arkada does actually like Champloo, he doesn't adore it anywhere near as much as many other people do.
"buying" 7 films hehehe
Remember never pirate a video or music.
t0329097i Most normal people don't pirate for the sake of being cheap bastards, but rather it's the problem of availability. I mean, if you can't find it on Steam, iTunes, or Amazon (just to mention the big guys for each respective medium) what else can you do? Not to mention the prices can skyrocket if you're getting into a series when it's 100+ episodes in.
BakedCookie why would you want to find an anime on Steam??
Hey ark, can u review hellsing ultimate?
lawl
Wish that Welcome to the NHK! and Monster would have made the list! And also Hajime no Ippo, since it is probably one of the best sports anime I've seen so far.But awesome list man! I have a lot of watchign to do!
C'mon man, you have Kamina as your avatar and didn't bother to mention Gurren Lagann?! Good call on Welcome to the NHK though!
He didn't recommend Monster most likely because it's an acquired taste, and it's very heavy watching.
Nah, dude; Free! is one of the best sport animes. :)
RickyX64 Even though I love Gurren Lagann, I didn't bring it up since I assumed Arkada wouldn't think it was for everyone. But that doesn't mean it is less epic though! :D
Slimy Weasles Damn, I can't believe I forgot Free! Ippo is a close second though XD
I have another amazing anime to add to the list: Monster. If you haven't seen it, then GO WATCH IT! :D
I agree.
-Code Geass
(my reaction)
Fuck Yeah :D
same, specially in the last part " because unlike death note, the ending is ffaaaantaastic "
Anas Chaachoue he says that in code geass review :D he also says some other good stuff :D
+TheDVNGaming what i hate about that review is that he only gave it 8.32 or something like that, just like attack on titan, wich is total bullshit to me
Anas Chaachoue it is
+TheDVNGaming same here
I find myself agreeing with only about 6 or 7 of these.
This might come as rude, but no one really asked for your opinion. I used proper punctuations to make up for my extreme rude behaviour.
nab rai The comments are where people are entitled to express their opinion and perceptions in a civil manner. This is what was done by matt here.
10 years later. I am sure you don't have time to read comments on old videos like this, but this was the list that got me into anime proper after watching the odd movie. Thank you.
me too homie, i saw this list in high school and made it my mission to watch all of them. 10years later still a great list
1-Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann
2- Hunterxhunter(2010)
3-Monster
4- Phsyco Pass
5-One Piece
6-Kaiji
7-Code Geass(1st season)
8-Mahou Shoujo Magica Madoka
9-Kiba
10-Higurashi
You sir, need some cookies. As evident from your list, you have a 'refined' taste in anime. Haven't seen kaiji but seeing that u placed it so high up on your list, maybe i'll give it a try. If you haven't already, give steins;gate a try. Its bloody brilliant and i'm sure you'll like it. Good day sir
I'd second Kaji. The mind games remind me of Death Note.
omg love having spice and wolf in this , bye far my favorite anime and music is amazing lol
yeah i can tell
what can i say spice & wolf=amazingness for me :D
Gary Campbell
yeah spice and wolf is awsome, can't say its my "favourite" (there are 3/4 series i would put as my favourites i can't name a single series), spice and wolf would definatly go in my top ten.
i gave it a 9/10.
Ashley Forman cant really tell you why spice and wolf is my favorite, it just is, i like some other series to but they dont really compare much of the story of spice and wolf :D
My Top 10 favorite anime
1. Code Geass

4. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
5. Cowboy Bebop
6. Attack on Titan
7. Neon Genesis Evangelion

Jorge Garza coz it's awesome.
mmm no
@@garzagarza01 Maybe because it has one of the best endings in anime history. But ye I agree, not my fav, thats were FLCL belongs xd
You know, now that you mention it, I think I'm due for another Geass rewatch. It'll forever be one of my favorites. Thanks for the reminder!
Make a recent one please
I agree me
I agree with me
Peter Ngo haha "I agree me"

1. Mirai Nikki
2. Death Note
3. Higurashi
4. Code Geass
5. Shiki
any suggestions would be great as i haven't been able to find an anime on the same level as these in ages (are there any?!)
Ikr i want more animes like mirai nikki and higurashi :L
Try elfien lied, ghost hunt, umineko
elfen lied i enjoyed but i wouldn't put it on the same level as mirai nikki/higurashi etc
Rain HD Yh more of a blood bath, gore then a thriller or mystery anime
Have you watched Steins;Gate ? It's a show that is VERY slow in the start but once you reach a certain point (~episode 12) I can almost guarantee you that you will not be able to stop watching it. Very unique anime.
Obviously there are people that would disagree with me but after seeing your list, we seem to have a similar taste.
Jordan Sanders watched berserk wasn't the greatest thing ever but i enjoyed it, and i'm currently watching claymore not sure whether i like it yet but ty
No Wolf's Rain?
This is why it is 25-ish
He said anything by Wolfs Children's creator~
Lililana Bright
wolf's rain not wolf children.
entirely different shows but i can see the confusion.
I FELL OFF MY CHAIR WHEN HE DIDN'T MENTION FATE/ZERO
He's said in the past that it's one his favorites so it really surprised me when it didn't make the list. I also love that anime, go watch it if you haven't, it's amazing :)
he probably forgot to say it. And all the anime he mentioned are good so i'm ok with that...
but seriously people who read this comment, watch fate/zero
He prolly mentioned it in snatcher vid already lol
i freaking love this list. too bad i already watched almost all of it.
You have my respect for recommending works by Satoshi Kon. Its saddening that many anime fans won't even watch his work.
Excellent, top 25, indeed.
I don't get how Monster is not on this list...
my recommended anime
1.Watamote
2.Arakawa under the bridge (and the season 2)
3.Welcome to the NHK
4.Oreimo
5.Code geass
6.Soul eater
7.Gundam Build Fighters
8.A channel
FINALLY I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO WATCHED ARAKAWA UNDER THE BRIDGE!
***** i was rofl all the time xD
kevin jacob I know right. It was so weird and quirky.
***** yep, but it's great!
Arakawa under the bridge and Welcome to the NHK are good choices.
the no. one anime reviewer is here Mr. Glass Reflection.
Dude, I really like your reviews
How about shinsekai yori ? Is it really that underrated
I wouldn't say underrated, just relatively unrecognized. It's an absolutely amazing series
There are some things I feel should have been on this list, but weren't either because you have different tastes than me or haven't heard about them. those would be
1) Anything by Studio SHAFT
2) anything written by Gen Urobuchi
3) bokurano
4) Mirai Nikki
5) Yuru Yuri
6) Chunibyo
If you're into reading manga, there's a few that were never animated and a few that the anime just completley butchers, so here
1) Narutaru (deconstruction of the Mon genre. Written by the same person as Bokurano. The anime butchered it)
2)Elfen lied (also butchered by the anime)
3) Pupa (Horror manga. Pretty sick stuff in it. Anime butchered it)
And lastly, there's a visual novel written by Gen Urobuchi that was never animated.
Urobuchi is mediocre.
Chunibyo is fun but not MUST WATCH.
Mirai Nikki is utter SHIT.
Shame on you.
Puts the anime to shame.
to be honest you cant blame us for asking you to review code geass lol
also i just finished spice and wolf and hulo (i think thats how you spell it) is one of the best anime girls ever
fullmetal alchemist is my favorite anime EVER
code geass is a close second
Didn't know 50 Cent watched anime haha
dude u are damn right . a review of code geass would be perfect !
sometimes 50 wants to be kawaii
holo
I'm with this guy on that one...
God I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the ending sucked. I didn't even know anything about the manga etc and even I went "WTH happened here?". So much deus ex machina in those last 15 episodes it hurt.
I'm really disappointed by the lack of drill-themed robots in this video.
+googleplus is bullshit yes.
+googleplus is bullshit no shit, Sherlock.
+googleplus is bullshit it is in the new top 15ish anime recommendations
I just want to make you aware that I, in fact, am binge watching ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS, FROM BEGINNING TO END, because I only care about YOUR recommendations, and only yours honestly
arkada watch monster if you havent seen it before its really awesome and review it if you could
Hey Ark, can you review Hellsing Ultimate, Code Geass and Persona 4?
