When you have rules you don't enforce because it hurts the entertainment you're not a Sport . More like a Game Show or WWE.

If the refs called carrying/travelling for real in the modern NBA, the turnover tally would be higher than the score. It's repulsive. Thanks for actually calling them out.

yeah those few games where almost every carry/travel was called were almost unwatchable, not because the rules are wrong but because everyone is so used to doing it

Or they would stop traveling and carrying the ball . But the new nba players are not as good as the old. They need the help unlike the era of greatness. 1980-2000. Best basketball ever watched

I remember a few years ago I forgot who the coach was for the bulls at the time but they complained about Isiah Thomas traveling and carrying but not getting called for it. What's the point of learning the fundamentals, when the refs don't even call it

    • @pattdor7

this why the NBA needs to make a choice on how much they want to allow or limit carries, travels, doubles, and what not. cuz once the NBA sets the tone, i feel a lot of basketball around the world will almost follow.
but it’s become an unanswered and hopefully we can get a legit answer soon. we’ll see tho

@@pattdor7 IMO. NBA doesn't have that much of an influence in other leagues including Olympics. Parts of the rest of the world have hard core fans it's a sport there. In the US with a lot of fair weather fans. Its an entertainment first. And sport a distant 2nd. Always has been like this. The integrity of the sport is not there

I run youth sports programs, and it's really obvious how kids are watching NBA players. I used to see the Harden step back shots constantly. This year I saw a ton of hand-under-ball handling. I only ref when I have to, because my job is mostly admin, but I would have to warn these kids and say "hey I know you see this in the NBA, but it's a travel, and I'll have to call it" It does effect more than the league, it's essentially blurring the lines of the rules of the entire sport.

Also check out #7's pivot foot at 03:25 with the referee right in front of him. If Morant got called for travel every time he does he would probably get benched. Subscribed!

I can't even watch Morant or Trae Young play..and you seem like a young man (i'm 36 myself)..for every one of you there's like 20 people in your age bracket who will vehemently argue against you about these obvious hesitation carries & travels. They seriously think Morant is just some god level ball handler that is able to magically get the best defenders in the world to commit while he blows past them. It's easy to get a defender to naturally commit and close on you when you suspend the ball in mid-air and redirect (carry) it to where you want to go..that's not a normal/legal dribbling motion

  • @Steven-iy8nn

What’s messed up is NBA fans now think this is great basketball they think that these guys are better than those from the 80s and 90s if they’re so good bring back the hand Check if you’re so good don’t travel don’t carry go to your NFL PA and say call the game legit if the NBA fans believe that the NBA players are so good get rid of zone and go back to man and play man man instead of having a guy come over before the guy gets the ballif the NBA fans believe that this product is better than what came between 1980 and 2000 play by the rules that they played by if you’re so good

NBA is one of the few sports leagues I know where enforcement of the rules hugely changes from season to season (and within seasons), seemingly based on what they think is most exciting to watch.. they need to decide if it's sports first or entertainment first
like, I used to sh1t on meme ballers like "The Professor" for all his carrying and traveling, but some of these Ja clips.. just carrying and hopping around mid dribble.. yeah of course you're gonna be undefendable if the rules don't matter

if you every play bball when a dood is initiating a carry you usually stop dead in front of them since their only option is to either pass or shot the ball. hence why ja is getting by his defender so easily. is not that he is amazing fast is cuz normal players assume that he would either shot it or pass the ball and not dribble it again without getting a call... this is classic manufactured superstar treatment

I love Morant, but in a proper world, you'd think he didn't learn how to play basketball and should go back to his high school basketball coach to teach him how to play properly. But that's worthless today and anyone with charisma can challenge the rules of the sport.
