He died of course, but the memory lives on.

Remasters entire Contra series, TMNT Arcade/Turtles in Time, Simpsons Arcade Game, and Castlevania. Then MS licenses out Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill to Hideo Kojima to make proper sequels.
can anyone recommend a book or video tutorials to learn this technique? I'm currently learning C# and Unity game development as a hobby and would LOVE to know how to do this. Hi res 2d art like this would look great in Unity 3D.
