Times when I feel down, I would watch ur videos and ur smiles and awkward laughs would make me feel better. I'm glad at least one person in the world is living the life of their own choosing. U have inspired me to travel but for a slightly different reason. I'm happy for u and thanks for all the videos u had made.
You don't know how much this means to me. I watch youtube videos sometimes for the same reason and it's a big reason why I continue. Happy to provide happiness :) Cheers to you.
Iceland is a beautiful place, my bucket list was to visit another country, it can be any country, and my first was Europe, loved it, and i was very amazed to see mostly light, and didnt see too much night time in Iceland. this was worth the trip, and was able to soak in everything, and lived it all last week. I love how she said, if you want to travel, make it happen. I have goals every year, and it doesnt stop, i love working hard, and reward myself with a great trip or anything you strive for. Live life to its fullest.
I've seen Iceland from the air when I was flying back from London but that's as close as I've gotten! I'm heading back to London in March and I'm going to see if I can do a stopover in Iceland! Thanks for sharing!
Whenever I'm in a new state I have those moments of "wow, I'm not at home any more!" too. Glad you took that 'time' to visit and bring us along as always!
Thank you Mari, for sharing your Reykjavik, Icelandic experience! I'll be there next week since WOW airlines makes everyone stop there. I'm excited. I do want to find out about other hotsprings. The Blue Lagoon seems to be the #1 place.
Thanks for your video. Y husband and I will be doing a 36 hour layover the end of this coming summer. Very excited. Will be staying in the city center.
We've thought about doing that stopover on our way to Europe a few times, but the flights/times haven't worked out for us yet. But we need to make it happen after this video. This is SUCH a great resource. Thanks so much for sharing!!
I was just there (around Thanksgiving time). We took a family vacation (12 people!). It was great but yeah, super expensive. None of us had ever been there so we decided to do a tour which is actually a great thing to do. You get a bit of background on Iceland's past and the culture. Our guide sometimes told us stories from her childhood (like Búkolla the magic cow). We had a couple days of rain but I think it just added to the experience (if you are prepared). I would go again. My sister asked if I would move there for work. I would.
Very nicely done. I want to go to Iceland too but only for the thermal spa. I love your way of doing it. In the summer, one loooooong day and that's it.
Awesome! A friend I met while travelling has recently moved to Iceland so I'm hoping to get out there sometime. It's nice to see a bit of the place so I know what to expect. Also, I love the way you say "Thanks for watching" at the end of your videos :) Thanks for sharing!
You are so right. You gotta go when you can. I am going too on my way to USA. October is my way home and doing Norwegian. This is good blog. I hope you go back for longer. Its good to be grateful for even the one day.
Having a rough day in Vietnam atm. Waiting all day at the airport for my flight after a 3.5 hr cramped bus ride from Tam Coc to Hanoi Noi Bai Airport. This video made me smile because as travellers we are looking for that out of body experience that makes it all worth it. There’s a lot of stress in the journey but a few seconds of bliss here and there like the blue lagoon would have made the entire trip worth the effort. I should just do Europe and not let the higher prices deter me! Otherwise I’ll never be able to do to Iceland.
You have have have to go back and travel the rest of Iceland if you can afford it. I spent two summers and one winter week there and it's just the most incredible country. Reykjavík is awesome but it's easily the least exciting bit (although it does have the best ice cream place - try and find Valdís if you are ever back).
Iceland looks incredibly beautiful! Seeing the sun rise at 2 30 in the morning must be an interesting experience. Makes me want to see if I can do a stopover there on my way to Europe.
On August 9, 2018, wife and I are (Lord willing) going to be in Reykjavik and surrounding areas for 9 days. Will miss the Aurora Borelis, but at least it will be less cold. You should consider doing a Winter time cross country train ride on the Canadian, Via Rail from Vancouver to Toronto. In February, wife and I did it with 3 day stop over in Jasper. We had a bedroom on the train, and slept like babies. 3 tasty meals except for the lamb chops.
I really wanted to see what the Blue Lagoon was like. It looks like you had a great experience in Iceland. I can go one day. Thank you for sharing with us. I found you as I am a subscriber of Gabriel Traveler as well. :)
I love this video !! It was really inspirational... My daughter and I are flying to Iceland this Friday for two nights (then to Germany for a week, and then Amsterdam). We're going to visit the Blue Lagoon too, but at 9am, BEFORE sunrise which is like crazy at 11:30am, so the opposite of your experience. But seeing this video makes us really psyched !! I have a feeling we're going to leave after two nights feeling like THAT wasn't enough either...
As far as surreal experiences go, swimming in warm blue water near midnight in Iceland must be near the top of the list, have wanted to traveled through the nordic contries for a while now, they seem like a hikers paradise
though September is still far, I AM SO EXCITED to see this lovely country already. Thank you so much for this video.Looking forward to see the northern lights, the blue lagoon and iceland's awesome landscapes. :-)
I hope you will enjoy :) I'm from iceland and I hope you will see the northern lights they are only out on specific days :/ so you have to be out for the lookout
thats what im hoping for. hehe. a friend of mine is currently there right now for a two weeks vacation. I haven't booked yet but the tickets are so expensive.hehe
im actually checking flights right now. they're quite pricy. and the lay overs are crazy. i dont care if i have to do stops, but please. not 7-9hours.hahah
Loved the vid, especially your comments about traveling....weather doesn't matter, if you have the chance go,...you nvr know what tomorrow will bring. Unrelated question, what brand of packing cubes do you use in your backpack? Just discovered your channel when I was searching for NYC transit tips, great find. Enjoying your videos.
Hi again Mari! Thank you for the backpack review link. Was just wondering if you think I can fit a yoga mat into the straps. Trying to find a good all in one so I can use it for the gym when I'm not traveling. Have a great weekend!
+IcelandHotSpots Hello, already love your channel IcelandHotSpots. Iceland is like my dream place to visit/live, and i love how your channel captures the country in such a beautiful, pure and respectful way. Thank you for you effort. By the way, can you tell me the name of some icelandic writers? I want to read something from that country so i can understand the culture more. Thank you again
Thanks you Green. Well there is so much to read but I think Halldór Laxness is a writer who could give you a lot of insight into our culture. He is a nobel winning author. Check you the "Atomic Base" or "Independent people". Also many of the the old icelandic sagas are fun to read, check out Egils saga and Völuspá (norse mythology).
IcelandHotSpots Thank you for the recommendations and for your time, im definetly going to pick some of those books, "Independent people" sounds just like what i was looking for :).
going to iceland in april, I am so looking forward to it. never been in a hostel, but in Iceland it all I can afford, glad for happy hours in hostels, beer is $$$$$$$
I only just found your channel and really liked this video :) I went to Iceland a few years ago, but in November so it would still be dark at 9am then dark again at 5pm. Seems like it would be a different experience in summer :) And Skyr yogurt is amazing :D
The Northern lights are amazing. I went with a company called 'Super jeep' and they will drive you around until the conditions are good enough to see them. I saw them on the first night and then booked a second night and saw them then too :D They also looked like they were trying to form when I was in the Blue Lagoon but nothing came of that one :) Trying to make my flatmate come with me for a long weekend as its only a 3 hour plane flight but he hates travelling :D If I nag enough, he'll give in eventually haha :D
haha oh man, I'm so bad at my website. Haven't even looked at that thing for months. I use Arvixe but I don't necessarily recommend them, but I also don't know much at all about this kind of stuff!
I'm about to learn all about you with a vlog marathon. I've been trying to hunt down fellow travelers since our community is so small. Nice to meet you :)
Love Iceland sooo much! Been twice but want to go back again 😂 theres so much to see and do and them Northern Lights 💕 so magical 😍 it’s so crazy how light / dark it gets isn’t it? I haven’t visited during warmer months yet but first trip was around October and it was similar to UK as in it got dark around 4-5pm but last trip was back end of Nov / Early Dec and sunrise was around 10-11am with sunset around 3pm! So bizarre grabbing breakfast in the dark 😂
I used Icelandair but Wow has free stopovers too. I found it easier to do on their website (rather than a third-party booking site), just find dates and times that work for you! They're really pushing these stopovers these days. Hope you go!
In 1965 I was brought to Iceland by Good Samaritans , They brought me out of harms way, We were on the Trawler Ardbaker out of Akerery , The other Trawler with us Sletbaker got chased away . This was an amazing 24hr stopover. You experienced a lot in a short time.
Thanks for sharing.
Iceland is so beautiful! It's great that you got to go, even if it was just for a very short time.
Times when I feel down, I would watch ur videos and ur smiles and awkward laughs would make me feel better. I'm glad at least one person in the world is living the life of their own choosing. you are so right! if we wait for the perfect time a will never go anywhere... that has been my thoght for a while...❤

This was a great vlog summarising what Reykjavík and its surroundings have to offer
Glad you enjoyed it!
The whole country is stunning!!! I really love the church!!
Iceland is on my bucketlist tooooooooooo
Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww
That's great. Check me out if you have any questions or if you want travel ideas ☺
+IcelandHotSpots Thanks! :)
Learn a Germanic(Probably Nordic) Language before you go.
Or else you might have to do a lot of stuff.
I love how it looks familiar and homey!!
You are awesome!! A very nice and adventurous person!!
I've seen Iceland from the air when I was flying back from London but that's as close as I've gotten! I'm heading back to London in March and I'm going to see if I can do a stopover in Iceland! Thanks for sharing!

Glad you came along on the adventure! Good to hear from you! xo
Thank you Mari, for sharing your Reykjavik, Icelandic experience! I'll be there next week since WOW airlines makes everyone stop there. I'm excited. I do want to find out about other hotsprings. The Blue Lagoon seems to be the #1 place.
Another fantastic journey, glad to have gone along.
Thanks for your video. Y husband and I will be doing a 36 hour layover the end of this coming summer. Very excited. Will be staying in the city center.
I'm excited for you!
We've thought about doing that stopover on our way to Europe a few times, but the flights/times haven't worked out for us yet. But we need to make it happen after this video. This is SUCH a great resource. Thanks so much for sharing!!
You should definitely do it!! If you go on the airlines websites, so you can custom make your own stopover, so the times work! That's what I did :)
I was just there (around Thanksgiving time). We took a family vacation (12 people!). It was great but yeah, super expensive. I love Iceland and have only made a stopover there but I want to go back for a week. The landscape is beautiful and I do like the hip looking culture.
One of my favorite videos. That's a place of plan to visit. Thank you for sharing with us.
Patricia hell yea
Very nicely done. I want to go to Iceland too but only for the thermal spa. I love your way of doing it. In the summer, one loooooong day and that's it.
The blue lagoon looks so amazing. I have been watching this show on Netflix Trapped and now I really want to visit!
Nice one, looks awesome. I'm heading there in two weeks! Good to know I can get a burrito in Iceland.
Gabriel Traveler
good for you! 🙌👍
I want to go to Iceland so bad. This video was great. I'm so jealous!
Iceland is so on my bucket list! I definitely need to make use of the free stop over option, good for you for going there even with such short time.
Awesome! A friend I met while travelling has recently moved to Iceland so I'm hoping to get out there sometime. It's nice to see a bit of the place so I know what to expect.
Also, I love the way you say "Thanks for watching" at the end of your videos :)

I hope you get to go! It's always such a different experience when you know someone who lives where you're going. :)
Nice vlog! I didn't know about stopovers but I'm definitey gonna look into it!

I like these packing cubes! They kind of compress everything too and they're super lightweight! amzn.to/1lxJyp2
I'M GOING SOON AND I CAN'T WAIT!
What are you going to visit?
I want to drive on the ring road and discover Iceland!
+sergio basilioli Good idea you should be able to see many great places that way ☺
Great video , many thanks Warm Greetings from the garden island of Kauai
Iceland is awesome!
Love your travel vlogs, Enjoy Iceland!!!
Thanks Veronica!
Cool..!!I really enjoyed when I watch your trips .. One day I will go there .. thanks
In which Hostel have you stayed the nights? One you can recommend? 😊
for me, your most enjoyable travel video.. you should maybe do more 24 hour flying visits 👍
Yeah, one day is way too little. I wouldn't like having to rush things.
Cool video Mari 🎥🎥📹📹🎥📹📹🎥📽
Hi again Mari! Thank you for the backpack review link. Was just wondering if you think I can fit a yoga mat into the straps. Trying to find a good all in one so I can use it for the gym when I'm not traveling. Have a great weekend!
Yeah, I think you probably could as long as it's not too bulky :)
Another awesome video
Thanks!!
Omg the Swim up bar looks so cool! ! So would love to go there! 😀
Yeah! I didn't use it (too expensive! ha), but looked fun!
omg that's so awesome, I wanna go to Iceland. can't wait to see videos from new York 😊😊
Great. Check me out if you ever have questions about Iceland ☺

Enjoy the experience!!
Ta for that Mari, take care.
I was there for 7 days last week - it was an amazing time. Can't wait to go back. Great video! Where did you get the breakfast burrito?
What do you use to record yourself? I am going to Bali and Aus next month and would like to learn to make videos or try i out. Any tips?
I only just found your channel and really liked this video :) I went to Iceland a few years ago, but in November so it would still be dark at 9am then dark again at 5pm. Seems like it would be a different experience in summer :) And Skyr yogurt is amazing :D
Hi Katie! Yeah you should go back and experience summer! I'm dying to go in winter to try to see the northern lights!
Awesome. Really wanna go there.
I loved the video, but I wanted to ask a random question: what service do you use to host your website and do you like it?
haha oh man, I'm so bad at my website. Haven't even looked at that thing for months. I use Arvixe but I don't necessarily recommend them, but I also don't know much at all about this kind of stuff!
Looks like an amazing place!
It is ☺
Is it still cold in Summer? It looks kind of cold. I was planning on going in their off season, but maybe I should do summer.
In summer you can expect anything between 5 and 20°celcius.
Wow... That's amazing! So no matter what time of the year, bring a down jacket.
Haha probably a smart idea :-)
wow the Blue lagoon looked amazing i would definately do that, $90 is a bit pricey but i guess you are paying for the memories too!
Yeah, it was a bit hard for me to spend that, but seriously no regrets!! The memories are definitely worth it. :)
I might be doing something like this later in a few months and I was wondering if you had any tips for doing stopover trips like this one?
I'm about to learn all about you with a vlog marathon. I've been trying to hunt down fellow travelers since our community is so small. Nice to meet you :)
Hi! Haha hope you enjoy! Glad you found me, I love finding other travel vloggers too! We gotta stick together!
+Mari Johnson I also found cupofTJ she's amazingly supportive
Cool, thanks! I just subscribed to her too! Love this :)
oh iceland, so beautiful, I miss it, next time, travel the ring road, you won't be disappointed!
I really can't wait to go back!
Love Iceland sooo much! Been twice but want to go back again 😂 theres so much to see and do and them Northern Lights 💕 so magical 😍 it’s so crazy how light / dark it gets isn’t it? Your skin and hair looked great after your dip in the blue lagoon
AWESOME !
hi mari how did you sort the flights to get the free day layover?? I've wanted to go in the blue lagoon for ages!! x
I used Icelandair but Wow has free stopovers too. I found it easier to do on their website (rather than a third-party booking site), just find dates and times that work for you! They're really pushing these stopovers these days. Hope you go!
Hey, I love your style. Where's your favourite place to travel? x
I've always wanted to go to Iceland
I already want to go back!
Great video i also had a lay over. Pretty kool place. u will enjoy it.
I love watching this video! Thank you for sharing!
What do you video on? I only have an iphone and a gopro, but your videos are good.
Good stuff, Iceland has been on my bucket list, too (btw - you NEED to get some wind protection over that mic, that wind noise was brutal :-) )
Would love to visit the Blue Lagoon!
Is it cold there during the summers?
I really wanna go there one day
I'm going to Iceland shortly and was wondering if they eat/use a lot of nuts in there food as I am allergic, thank-you
Great video!! What type of backpack did you use/recommend?
This is the backpack I've been using! :) ruclips.net/video/1bBSZcpEEfk/видео.html
you were glowing after the Blue Lagoon visit
i wonder if i should go somewhere for just a day? I feel like you need to soak up a place like iceland
What time did you get picked up to go to the blue lagoon?
Do you travel by yourself??
how long did it take to get from the airport to the city center?
Love your vlogs!
Very nice !!!!! I really like watching your vlog :)
In 1965 I was brought to Iceland by Good Samaritans , They brought me out of harms way, We were on the Trawler Ardbaker out of Akerery , The other Trawler with us Sletbaker got chased away .
Those two Captains risked there Ships and crew for a no body, Me ! . All I can do is Thank the Good Folk of Akarery.
Could I hear the whole story? It sounds interesting!
Going in two weeks. There's so much to do; I wouldn't dream of staying for one day.
Wow beautiful. You was alone . But I'm a hundred percent sure you didn't enjoy it .
Of course this country is super expensive country in the world . When you buy a pocket bread . It's cast around 4. US dolor. I hope that time I meeting you
whats the cheapest way to get to the blue lagoon from the airport? cuz I'm looking at the blue lagoon website and they want 75US$ for two tickets...
you can hitchhike in iceland, somewhat common there.
I thought the Blue Lagoon closed at 8pm? How in the world were you there at 11:30pm?
+Lundy Holbrook maybe the summer hours are different? I got the last time slot for that day.
i liked the blue lagoon part. it prob got u some more subs. i didnt know it had a bar too
looks nice
