We had war (or was Rook's Rest just a mild skirmish?). But this is the opening stages of a war, where both sides still hold out hope for peace while trying to get all of their forces in line. Now the hope for peace is over, the armies are in place and all-out war is about to begin.
Did anyone noticed the stark theme during the march with the northerners and the Rains of Castamere with the Lannisters ? so beautiful ♥️ 🐉 I love the game of thrones universe so excited to back in Westeros onward to season 3 🔥 🐉
After Daemon swears his loyalty to Rhaenyra, he gets to his feet and it looks like he wanted to touch his forehead to hers (something we've seen him do before with people he loves) but it looked to me like she turned away. Anyone else catch that or was it just me? Or maybe I just imagined it lol
Cramming that Lannister story line into the finale was infuriating. To say the writing in Season 2 was lacking would be an understatement. They need to bring back Miguel Sapochnik ASAP
Baela and Jace are my faves from this season. The scenes with Lord Lannister in Essos were priceless. I wish they didn't save those for the end though. Rhaenyra grew on me so much this season too. Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke are the true heartbeats of the show. Even when things kind of sagged in parts, their scenes were all so compelling. Tom Glynn Carney as Aegon was also great this season to me. I heard they couldn't do rewrites or anything due to the strike and some of that showed. Season 3 will rip our hearts out.
A lot of it showed. Had Daemon randomly in a castle the whole season. It could have been summed up in 2 episodes. I wanted why more Daemon and Otto. To me they are the best in the show.
Isn't it ironic how Alicient and Otto preached that Aagon should fear Rhanera when her own son Aemond was the one who is actively trying to kill him? Stupid Hightowers 🤨😒
@@lindsey7951 Aemond was always like this, ambitious and too emotional, but he knew how to hide it. He was the second son so he kept himself in check and prepared for when his opportunity would come, but went for it when Aegon bullied him one last time. You could already see this behaviour once he claimed Vhagar when he told his cousins and nephews what he really thought of them.
I was not liking early in the season up until he had that vision that he wanted to take the Throne for himself. I’m so happy he now understands his rightful place is next to Queen Rhaenyra. Also I was wondering after the vision shifted from Daemons vision to Helena speaking directly through dragon/weir wood dream Skype I wonder if because she saw something that she has been trying to set people up or something
This should have been the penultimate episode. We spent 2 years + all season leading up to this battle and I was really excited to see it. Whatever, I’ll be back watching it in 2 years anyway!
I think I heard an Easter egg when the “mud lady” was talking to Tyland Lannister ( or whatever his name is lol), she mentions the sea snake and meeting him again…if she’s referring to Corlyss, and if she is possibly a slightly older woman, AND she has long gray hair….maybe she’s Allen and Adams mother and she’s a Targaryen bastard pirate 😂🤷🏻♂️
I think that was a bit more than a good edit with Helaena. It is meant to show us that her visions and prophesies come from her connection (in real time to everyone else) with the three-eyed raven, which exists outside the normal confines of time.
I am honestly going to step back and look at this as it’s own thing separate from GOT. I’m going to stop comparing. It’s NOT going to be at the level of Seasons 1-4 of GOT. So, Just watching this from a Zerospace I will say the episode was entertaining but felt like a CW fantasy series in moments. In other words - it was a bit soapy The scene with Gawain and Criston felt so random. Why is he just finding it out??? It seemed we missed the lead up to that The scene with Alicent and Rhae felt like bad team green fan service. The best scene was the Corlys Alan moment. It was great to finally get some meat for Corlys Aemond is full on comic villain. I mean it was entertaining but very light. It isn’t the sophisticated intrigue story I wanted - expected but I finally will let go of that desire and try to enjoy it for what it is Fluf fantasy
This didn't really feel like a finale to me. It's worth noting this season was shortened to 8 episodes instead of 10, and that decision wasn't up to the creators of the show, but that doesnt change the dissatisfaction this episode left me with. I'm optimistic we won't have to wait as long for next season.
@@ericv234 Probably not, it’s just paced differently than expected. I think this season still had a lot of great moments. The finale just felt like a filler episode.
I agree ...very underwhelming. Feels like Daemon and otto got the sh*t end of the stick. I needed way more of them. Larys as a master of whispers when he comes to politics is also underwhelming. It all gives rough draft vibes. Sigh
Loved when Ser Simon Strong clapped in relief behind Rhaenyra. His being patient with Daemon paid off 😁 But, man, was I let down with everything ending on a cliffhanger. The armies didn't even get into ANY position. Booooo...... says me who is, of course, willing to wait.

I actually really enjoyed this season which surprised me because I have read the book and they have done a great job of adding to the story in my opinion
"he sits on a wooden throne" = at some point during the dance of dragons, Aegon becomes king again, but he is crippled and can't move his legs. The book's accurate Iron Throne is HUGE, with a staircase made of swords leading up to the seat. Since Aegon can't move his legs, he can't climb the steps to sit on the throne. In turn, a replica throne was made out of wood for him that was placed in front of the Iron throne that he sat on until he died.
I like how helaena chastises aemond for burning aegon and says that he'll die, but doesn't show any pain or anger to the man killed her own son. I thought she was gonna be an interesting character but it looks like she's just gonna be Bran the robot lite

Ohh woe is me i just want to live in peace after i lost all control and have no other option. Rhenerya please be the bigger person and spare me. Even though you ask the same of me a few weeks ago and i told you no. I hate her writing.
I agree with a lot of people that this season felt less amazing than it was supposed to be. I think people feel that way because there weren’t that many dragon fighting scenes or in general actions scenes, at least not the amount we expected after season 1, but I think it works really well to build up season 3. That’s where the actual battles will happen and where we will probably see many MANY more people die. It is sad that we will most likely have to wait like 1 to 2 years tho.
Finally Daemon shows up to the party after weeks of hallucinations but now he has to wait two years to dance. I definitely enjoyed this episode but felt like a penultimate episode not a finale. 8/10
Yes, but they are going to change absolutely their entire story which will cause a domino effect that will only serve as the series has already been doing to sanctify Daenira which will take away the best moments of the book that are going to come =(
@@ACinemafanatic They aren't even adapting the book for this series one to one. They already added the whole Catspaw and the prince that was promised storyline into it. I just think more people will be turned off by adding it than on. Doesn't matter either way to me I guess I just want dragons.
Is it a well-made and well-written episode? YES! Is this a season finale episode? ABSOLUTELY NOT! My only question is: how did the writers' room get together and say - "ok, this is a good episode to end season 2"?! It's absolutely unbelievable. A hook of expectation for the next one that will soon die without the slightest chance of remembering. Unreal, unbelievable.
I dont like Aemond, but the audacuty Alicent has to question him about sending Heleana to battle when she was the one who caused all of this is hilarious.
And she made a mistake. Does she need to allow other mistakes to be made? Rhaenyra also puts her sons in War affairs, and apparently is ok for her. Again everyone expects that Alicent some sort of duty and yet Rhaenyra is free from every decision she made. She may even ask Aegon´s head and people will cheer. But if the coins were flipped and in the same situation Alicent asked Jace head, people would just beat her up. Again Alicent recognized her mistake which led to bloodshed, but still people just want her to humiliate herself in every possible way. Rhaenyra did mistakes too, but good for her, she is learning!
@cassandramcbride7007 Not to be rude, but I was talking about one scene. Also, the only mistake she has made so far is to have any sympathy for the opposition that wants her and her family's heads.
I'm just not understanding why the season was cut off like this. So we have to wait 2 years to see an event taking place in 3 days? It just makes no sense. Aside from that, I think it was a good episode but not much of a finale. I was like, ".....oh.....this is it?" At the end rather than crying, lol. Rooks Rest is definitely the standout episode of S2. Helaena terrifying Aemond was pretty amazing. We got to see nothing of Silverwing, or Vermithor. I just feel like this season needed a little more beef. The performances of the cast have been phenomenal through the season even though it seemed short.
So . . . Now we have to wait another two years for a two episode pay off for this storyline, when they could’ve easily ended this storyline by having ten episodes like season one? Let’s drag this shit out for another season because the actors need to keep working.
The actor who plays Alyn is a game director of ‘Tales of Kenzera: Zau’ and voice actor for Assassins Creed Origins. He’s a very talented and versatile guy and it’d be a shame if his stories already coming to an end! 🙏
Larys could have done it to get back at Aemond for insulting him. Mysaria could be the one behind it to retaliate against Otto because he didn’t keep his promise to help make things better for the commonfolk back in the first season. They'd be the main suspects on my list.

@@OrionInSpace two episodes were pushed to season 3
@@Michael-hc2vs agreed completely
The issue with this season was that it promised war and instead gave us armies marching to war.
There was a war
It's an anti-war series, though. You're not supposed to want war or dragons fighting.
We had war (or was Rook's Rest just a mild skirmish?). But this is the opening stages of a war, where both sides still hold out hope for peace while trying to get all of their forces in line. Now the hope for peace is over, the armies are in place and all-out war is about to begin.
@@daurydavis3983 One major battle and a couple battle aftermaths. It would be digestible if the non-war scenes were great but they weren't.
@@unc54 The non-war scenes aren't great? Are we watching the same show? These performances have been amazing.
Did anyone noticed the stark theme during the march with the northerners and the Rains of Castamere with the Lannisters ? so beautiful ♥️ 🐉 I love the game of thrones universe so excited to back in Westeros onward to season 3 🔥 🐉
The ending sequence music was the best part of the entire episode tbh.
"I am at last myself."
Oh, it was so good!!!
I took it like he wanted to do the forehead touch and lean into a kiss but there was too many people in the room for that type of PDA 😅
I luved this scene. I hope it sustains me for 2026.
@@mellisima6451 ha! Maybe! That's why I wanted to see a PRIVATE moment between them!

@@flowrinse9671me too😂 I was getting salty about the 2 yrs thing but then Daemon and Rhaenyra’s scene sweetened me up!😂
The thing with the antlers walking by the heart tree is a green man from the isle of faces.
Oh that makes sense. I first thought it was something to do with Robert Baratheon
I thought it was some interpretation of the thingy Rhaenyra saw in the forest from season 1
Green men are sacred order entrusted with the guardianship of the Isle of Faces. No clue what they're doing at Harrenhall though.
41:48 “She’s so enshrined in this lattice of lineage” - girl you at that line up omg
Cramming that Lannister story line into the finale was infuriating. To say the writing in Season 2 was lacking would be an understatement. They need to bring back Miguel Sapochnik ASAP
Almost like Helena and Bran are communicating through time like Bran could be trying to switch stuff around using Helena
OHHH hey I like that idea
I don’t know who plays Halaena Targaryen. But my gosh. She looked so beautiful in this episode. ❤
Absolutely Gorgeous the actresses name is Phia Saban btw lol
Phia Saban, she looks more beautiful in real life !
@@believeume122to be fair, in Fire & Blood Daemon spent one year in Harrenhal and didn't explain much of why but he was there a long time

Isn't it ironic how Alicient and Otto preached that Aagon should fear Rhanera when her own son Aemond was the one who is actively trying to kill him?
Stupid Hightowers 🤨😒
Alicent & Otto be like: Competition amongst siblings? In a Targaryen household? Preposterous!
He wasn't before rooks rest and logically she would have to kill them to maintain peace.
writing issue.
Dogshit writing.
I was surprised people expected the war to be this season honestly lol
I agree!! Or this could be like episode 6. Season 2 almost fills like filler
People forget that in GOT…There was a lot of planning and walking too before any “big” battles scenes in the later seasons
Yall say this as if you wouldn’t be upset and fuming if they crammed an entire battle into one episode. Then it’d be “rushed”
@@believeume122impossible to have filler in a show driven entirely by character interactions and a war of succession
I think I heard an Easter egg when the “mud lady” was talking to Tyland Lannister ( or whatever his name is lol), she mentions the sea snake and meeting him again…if she’s referring to Corlyss, and if she is possibly a slightly older woman, AND she has long gray hair….maybe she’s Allen and Adams mother and she’s a Targaryen bastard pirate 😂🤷🏻♂️
daemon’s vision gave me CHILLSSSS
I did not expect myself to SCREAM when I saw Bloodraven and Daenerys and her dragons
I think that was a bit more than a good edit with Helaena. It is meant to show us that her visions and prophesies come from her connection (in real time to everyone else) with the three-eyed raven, which exists outside the normal confines of time.
This episode was incredible Damon seen the future was insane and then when he said that winter is coming season 3 will be pure chaos

It was still cool to see
It just sucks that GoT season 8 was terrible. So any mention of "Winter is coming" makes me instantly roll my eyes.

I am honestly going to step back and look at this as it’s own thing separate from GOT. I’m going to stop comparing. It’s NOT going to be at the level of Seasons 1-4 of GOT. So, Just watching this from a Zerospace
I will say the episode was entertaining but felt like a CW fantasy series in moments. In other words - it was a bit soapy
The scene with Gawain and Criston felt so random. Why is he just finding it out??? It seemed we missed the lead up to that
The scene with Alicent and Rhae felt like bad team green fan service.
The best scene was the Corlys Alan moment. It was great to finally get some meat for Corlys
Aemond is full on comic villain.
I mean it was entertaining but very light. It isn’t the sophisticated intrigue story I wanted - expected but I finally will let go of that desire and try to enjoy it for what it is
Fluf fantasy
@@OpeningsOpenings It felt a little off. Was it written by someone different?

i might be reaching here but i think larys got sum to do with otto being in a cage
Or he got home and the Beesburys wanted a word about their lord’s demise.
This didn't really feel like a finale to me. It's worth noting this season was shortened to 8 episodes instead of 10, and that decision wasn't up to the creators of the show, but that doesnt change the dissatisfaction this episode left me with. I'm optimistic we won't have to wait as long for next season.
You think next season will be the last ?

I've always wondered this, what type of screen do you watch content on? Size, type, resolution ect.
I believe it is a Mac, which means that it is in 4K, at least when they’re watching it.
In an episode of great character scenes, one of the goddamn best scenes was Alan going off on Corlys.
I like how helaena chastises aemond for burning aegon and says that he'll die, but doesn't show any pain or anger to the man killed her own son. I thought she was gonna be an interesting character but it looks like she's just gonna be Bran the robot lite

That last montage with Ramin’s BRILLIANT SCORE gave me the chills

He is meant to be an ugly dragon he is described as one of the ugliest ever in the books
Yes, but they are going to change absolutely their entire story which will cause a domino effect that will only serve as the series has already been doing to sanctify Daenira which will take away the best moments of the book that are going to come =(
@@mattsavage9960: Well, they did a very poor job of making him ugly. Those wings of his are fantastic.

The thrird brother? Interesting that she didn't call call him by his name, Daeron
I disagree, Man. But we'll agree to disagree.
i love the way john talks "lattice of lineage" sounds so poetic
I dont like Aemond, but the audacuty Alicent has to question him about sending Heleana to battle when she was the one who caused all of this is hilarious.
Totally, she is a traitor
Was not expecting a three eyed raven
WHAT?! RUclips’s very own Abigail Thorn makes a surprise appearance as Sharako Lohar this episode. She’s now in two franchises within a two month span
I love that Greg asked the same question as his brother over at the other channel, "do you feel bad for him?" regarding Aegon haha
The name change of the Seasnake is a nice touch. He'd always go away leaving Rhaenys behind. Now she's with him wherever he goes.

Now Season 1.5 has ended, when season 2?
So . . . Now we have to wait another two years for a two episode pay off for this storyline, when they could’ve easily ended this storyline by having ten episodes like season one? Let’s drag this shit out for another season because the actors need to keep working.

Larys could have done it to get back at Aemond for insulting him. Mysaria could be the one behind it to retaliate against Otto because he didn’t keep his promise to help make things better for the commonfolk back in the first season. They'd be the main suspects on my list.
