Simple breakfast food in camp For more rise add baking powder French Press in this video is final Pre Production Prototype and scheduled to release 3rd Qtr of 2022
I was homeless some years back and all I had was a cheesy claw hammer and some old 2x6 piece's of wood but couldn't split the wood until I found a old railroad spike and it was fire in the hole coffee time !
frybread was created in 1864 using the flour, sugar, salt and lard that was given to the dene (sometimes called navajo) by the United States government when the dene, who were living in Arizona, were forced to make the 300-mile journey known as the "Long Walk" and relocate to Bosque Redondo, New Mexico, onto land that could not easily support their traditional staples of vegetables and beans. this is a food with a history of resilience and survival, perfect for bushcraft!
I went camping over on Santa Catalina Island, California and where we were there were no trees or bushes to harvest dead wood from for a fire but, there was a LOT of buffalo chips EVERYWHERE. When I say everywhere, I mean everywhere! So I saved my stove for another day and cooked on buffalo chips and pots and pans that we carried with us.
I just stumbled onto your channel thanks to the algorithm! I'm really excited for these type of videos to be released, since me and my girlfriend have been camping a lot more and getting outdoors. Thanks for the watch!!
I find all your videos to be super informative and entertaining and I really enjoy these camp cooking videos to the point where I hope you make more of them and maybe even create a series. Being able to cook simple but good tasting food while you’re out in the bush is extremely important.
Dave, thank you for sharing, reminds me when i use to live in New Mexico, the Navajo would make fry bread about the size of a dinner plate and then make Navajo Tacos, oh how I miss those Navajo Tacos. Take care, stay healthy and God bless you and your Family always.
I love Indian fry bread. Good stuff. A few weeks ago I got a good deal on raspberries, so I made a couple of small jars of homemade raspberry jam. That would make a great breakfast--fry bread + homemade jam. 😊
Dude! That looks so good! I used to eat Indian fry bread (that’s how they spelled it) when I was a kid at Navajo gatherings in AZ. I can’t wait to take my daughter camping and cook a batch. Thanks man! From what you said at the end I’m going to fry up bacon and use that grease ,and add oil, to make the fry bread.
Thanks for the video Dave. I'm gonna do this with my grandson this weekend. I've noticed you're drinking more coffee. I can remember from way back in the day, you would say, "I'm not much of a coffee drinker, I prefer hot chocolate!" Take care and God Bless!
Great tip. A little baking powder in the dry mix would put that over the top. About a teaspoon or so for that batch. I used to carry Bisquick on backpacking trips because all you needed was water and a means to cook the dough. Good stuff.
Glad you are sharing your recipes and cooking tips again. Came across some from close to ten years ago and found a lot of valuable content. Thanks for all your hard work.
I'm planning to go out this upcoming weekend and I might have to give this a try, that or I might try to hit my mom up for one of our old family recipes for something that is similar to this... Thanks for the awesome cooking videos lately, I love them!
Thanks Dave! I'll have to try this sometime. And that Woodsman's Wedgie is definitely on my list for my next purchase. Thing looks like a multifunctional beast.
Here in Texas, the hardwood doesn’t fall apart like that. You practically need a 6000lb splitter. Especially for Live Oak. I’ve wrecked my swinging arm trying to split that stuff fireside.
Dave, I love seeing you back at the out door cooking. I used to watch them years ago when you did them regularly. When will we see the coffee press for the 64 oz.nesting cup? I have made cowboy coffee in mine for a long time without that lid press combo. Please keep up the video’s . Love to see it!
Hey I just wanted to thank you very much for teach me a lot of things I've been watching you since a dual survival and all that stuff always like learning from you man.
Thanks for the cooking video's. I've been on a few 2 week rafting trips to Alaska and nothing keeps moral and attitude higher than hearty meals. Good information.
FIrst! LOL!!
How are you doing Dave?
Hope things are going well.
Wish you all the best in 2022!!

When the government gives you ( the natives) food supplies that they're not used to using ...they had to be creative and fry bread was born.
Thanks for the shout out DC!
Good stuff, as always. 👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks Dave

I love these cooking videos!
Your little splitting tool, reminds me of my old Sotz splitting maul. The wide angle of the wedge, makes splitting super-easy. Nice design!
That looks great. Thanks for the video.

Perhaps replacing sugar with honey will add that caramel flavor to enhance the fried bacon :)
Love your wood splitting tools!! The fry bread looks super fun to try.
If you want to switch it up resins and other dry fruits are great to try. Easy to take along on hikes as well.
Thank you Dave! Definitely going to make this with my kids.
