Hahaha. So many people arguing. Jimbo is amazing. Period. And he is most certainly a musician despite what one person decides to interpret as his own definitions.
That thing is gonna sing man! Nice.. This past winter opted out of a car too for a new kit.. haha So far, it was totally worth it. Have fun with your new snare!
No, I actually got a steam bent single ply, free floating, 14x6.5, D-type snares and of course the Maple hoops I'm going to throw on it. ! I cannot wait for it to show up! I bought it instead of a car for my sixteenth birthday haha. Should be a beast in the studio!
I have read some notice from yamaha in their website, you can order custom drum kit with SIZE, lug model up to hardware, custom hardware (ex. remote hi-hat with new pedal model link), finish shell, and shell it self (include phx, oak and BEECH shell too), but it taking min. 6 months for process. Entry level drum like stage custom, tour custom, rock tour can't be custom order.
@soundgrdn look 14" and 16" tom-tom, it's have one leg floor tom for each tom-tom. it's Hybrid tom and only in Oak Custom Akira Jimbo model. beech custom absolute was discontinued by Yamaha, and as Yamaha endorser and artist, Yamaha think Jimbo must have new custom drum for replace beech drum.
Haven't heard a note or beat yet, but from the particular tools chosen in the drum set and how it is arranged tells me this guy is gonna be good. A true professional.
@xen0genesis ofcourse, i understand what your saying, just couldnt get it sounding responsive, there is such a skinny snare on that drum! sold it and went back to my trusty old ludwig acrolite!
Where do you get your wood hoops from? Would it by chance be Stellar? I was looking to them recently for some. If not, I'd love to know of other makers.
You mean there's no triggers on these acoustic drums! I've seen a good few acoustic kits with triggering systems, more prominently on the kick than anything else!
Nice! Did you get yourself one of those 20 ply snares? I'm building a segmented shell now, and want some pretty hoops to throw on there. I'm excited now to get me some Stellar hoops.
dude, just get some wood hoops made for your favorite snare then. I can send you a link to a company that makes phenomenal wood hoops for snares, made to order and highly customizable. A little pricey but in my experience it was well worth it. They look and sound really sexy on basically any drum.
Well if you're a DJ that happens to be a accomplished musician (Like ?uestlove) because you'll be a threat to mediocre DJ's,because you have a understanding of whats going on within the music. :)
It won't ever be the same again. No more Recording Custom and all the things that made the company. Everything that Hagi Hagiwara worked for is basically in the chute. No more made in Japan. The company is losing their identity by not operating in Japan. Tama has made similar mistakes. Sakae is on their own now and IMO not making the smartest decisions. Yamaha's new factory was supposed to lower the prices of the drums but it basically lowered the price on their end. They're charging just as much for the hybrid maple as they did for the original MIJ maple custom. I will say the hybrid maple sounds good. I'll give them that. Although, the new Live Custom's don't sound very good at all. No tone. I feel my comments are accurate.
+CR I totally agree... those handcrafted and innovated times are gone. I purchased a big kit in Maple custom with (YESS) first or secondmounting system, 1988. Very mellow and tonal drumshells.. and I din´t know for sure but I believe they were made in Japan, original factory?!
One of the most underrated drummers in the world! >:(
Who ever said he was underrated??
This mans playing hi hat and double bass with his left foot. Legendary
Akira! Caseopeia's drummer. In his Caseopeia years he was great too. Master!
His slide technique is nasty ;) super fast and dynamic!!!
i saw him live and almost shit my pants, he is amazing and live sounds even more awesome!!
You know something’s proper good when it has that effect
he tuned it so perfectly
Hahaha. So many people arguing. Jimbo is amazing. Period. And he is most certainly a musician despite what one person decides to interpret as his own definitions.
All I can say is,Akira Jimbo!!!!
THIS
Mr. Jimbo, thank you for your excellence. Thank you for your inspiration. Your so good, I bet U can make everything sound exceptional. Best to ya
I love my oak customs. Awesome to see one of my drum hero's using them.
Is there a way to figure out what others are playing those Oaks so we can hear them on some recordings maybe?
@@lorenzmuller3542 You can hear some on my channel but also Billy Cobham played them in the mid 2000a. He may still play them now
Grace in motion.
He makes it look effortless!
Ah he plays so beautifully. Classic
"Take that every other drummer in the universe." - Akira Jimbo
Started off immediately with a Purdie shuffle variant..... nice
Definitely one of my all time favs Akria the samurai Warrior Jimbo
Indeed, stellar is the most customizable, and probably the best sounding. I'm putting them on my Pearl Masterworks snare when it finally arrives.
One o the all time greats. The dude is amazing!
Are you kidding me... this must be some kind of robot. Seriously, I am ashamed because I have never heard of such talent.
That thing is gonna sing man! Nice.. This past winter opted out of a car too for a new kit.. haha So far, it was totally worth it. Have fun with your new snare!

YES!!...He's the drummer for Casiopea.
This guy is definitely top five for me!
still love your drumming!!
Sadly I know almost nothing about DJs, but surely your point of view is right.
Akira the only ! And man his drum kit is well tuned =D
Love the sound of these drums ! , just bought a set ,
I highly recommend Recording Custom. I have them myself, and it has "the" sound. And the more you play tham, the better they sound.
Like wine.
I cant believe his footwork

AWESUM...Fantastic musician
I actually own a oak custom, I’ve never managed to get my toms to sound that good but!
This guy rocks my freaking universe.
Fun ride!!
He's both, believe me. And a big calibre one, to be honest. Just check one of his many albums.
สแนร์เพราะมากสุดยอดครับ
Nearly brought one of those wood hoop snares once,I'm looking at A Tama Bubinga at the moment.
@scottie859 They are definitely dampeners. No triggers on the acoustic drums.
I WILL!!!.....when it arrives.
wuuuiihhh main dobel pedal sambil nginjak hi hat..........
Haven't heard a note or beat yet, but from the particular tools chosen in the drum set and how it is arranged tells me this guy is gonna be good. A true professional.
Ele é fã da banda Toto, em várias partes do solo ele toca a música Rosanna
@xen0genesis ofcourse, i understand what your saying, just couldnt get it sounding responsive, there is such a skinny snare on that drum! sold it and went back to my trusty old ludwig acrolite!
how the tom are tuned???? They are awesome! Please tell me the tuning
esse cara e o cara, muito bom mesmo.
Best sounding floor tom in the world ?!
Muito muito bom 👏👏👏🥁🥁🥁
@JoelSC21 They look like little strips of felt.
i had an akira jimbo snare, couldnt get it to sound anything like that!!!
What are those drum mufflers on the top of the toms that he's using? It's some kind of foam flap or something. The smallest tom doesn't have it.
magic!
@307236 im pretty sure those are triggers
Wow, skill level Asian!
Rosanna, rosanaa, ....
I use a seat with a backrest, but only between numbers while the band take an eternity to decide what to play next!
Monster musician.
Where do you get your wood hoops from? Would it by chance be Stellar? I was looking to them recently for some. If not, I'd love to know of other makers.
@JoelSC21 ops sorry theyre not.
theyre just little dampening strips.
like moon gels? just a different style.
que som lindo
is that the casiopea drummer?
@307236 Coated Ambassador on the snare
Powerstroke 3 on the bass drum
Clear Emperors on the toms
his Yamaha Akira Jimbo Signature. Check it on RUclips, great snare!
He played my yamaha drum set
Which snare is that? Sounds amazing!
it is Akira limbo "NSD" oak sig snare
Is the kick triggered!? And those arent triggers on the toms are they?? I see mic stands! Unless they're some sort of dampners?
great ostinato !
do someone know what does he is using as a muffling on his air toms? a kind of paper? is it a home made muffler? thanks a lot and regards to all!
it's been five years since this comment is made!
but he is just using pieces of cloth and each has a coin in it
i heard it was just paper
You mean there's no triggers on these acoustic drums! I've seen a good few acoustic kits with triggering systems, more prominently on the kick than anything else!

bien pensé les amortisseurs sur les toms :P?
After watching this video I understood why so many people give up on instruments and go being a DJ.
Yes i think that is rosanna shuffle
上手っ!

i think cowbells should be left to david garibaldi, i dont think ive ever seen anyone use em as sexy as him
1:00 Pirates Of The Caribbean :D
Wow, double paddle by single foot
And people think dw drums are the best sounding drums
and people think a crap-quality old youtube video is a good way to judge...
05-051 he is playing 'ted the mechanic' pattern invented by Ian Paice
Anyone know what kind of cow bell that is?
@LewisDijs Then you bought a used kit. Beech custom is in fact discontinued.
bernard Purdie shuffle I would say
@stiktrik + hybrid tom in YD9000AJ Akira Jimbo
what is yamaha oak custom
what is he using to mute the toms?
just his homemade device with a black stationary clip and some fabric
LiveDrumDrive becoz Japan
@LewisDijs exist! check Akira website akira-jimbo.uh-oh.jp/equipment.html, it's oak custom Akira Jimbo Model with nouveau lugs.

R.I.P yamaha drums
What do you mean by this comment?
you talking to me?
CR Yes...why did you say R.I.P. Yamaha Drums?
