- Biochemistry has always been a popular program at McMaster University, but not everyone is suitable for this program. Therefore, I wanted to share with you why I chose Biochem and how my experience has been in Biochem, and the pros and cons of Biochem.
Hopefully, it was helpful :)
Thanks for watching :D
Sarah
thank you so much, this has been so helpful!
I found it so relatable (and amusing as a result) when you said the difference between biochemistry and chemical biology is unclear. I’m happy to not be alone here.😅
Haha, yeah now I have just settled to biochem is just more bio based, and chembio is more chemistry based
@@sarahli6425 thank you for the video btw. It was nicely composed and very informative.
Good evening. I'm doing specialist at clinical biochemistry residency on second year ( total Duration of the residency 4 years) after MBBS graduation. I have a lot worries and unclear situations. Where and how to get job after graduation? And how difficult? Thank you an advance for respond
Hello!
Im going to study biochemistry for undergrads and i wanna apply to med school. Could you plz tell if its a good pre med major? Thank you
Or like i should go for pharamcy and then med. Im actually kinda confused.
I want to change my degree to biochemistry but. .. it's way different than what I've had studied before, idk I'm wondering if this could be ok for someone who is verily starting a career, for someone that likes to learn different things everyday lol
Hey, so you mentioned that some of the courses are PAIN but are they pain because of the course/content it self or because of the prof/uni
Hi Sarah, are you still in biochemistry ? curious to know how you feel now ?
Very helpful 💖
just gonna ask something i am not 100% sure cause all my information is just from reading and i didn't start uni yet but isnt biochem more chemistry based and chemical bio more bio based cause i did read in a couple of places that bio chem is more of a chemist approach to biology and chemical bio is more of a biologist approach to chemistry or maybe im wrong ?
Biochem is more bio based, and chembio is more chem based.
I’m a biochemistry student, I took both analytical chemistry and genetics 🥲
RIP
Same. And now I'm doing my final year

I want to pursue a degree in biotech but I was wondering what master options will be avaible to me if I do
Im interested in food science or pharmaceutical ?
If you have any advice that would be much appreciated
i am not too sure about that, sorry
@@sarahli6425 thank you anywayy
Hi can I do my I. T in an hospital lab
What is the genuine answer for why you choose biochemistry if interviewer will ask in interview then
Is the job field of biochemistry narrow???
What r the pre course to go biochemistry major
Do have take master biochemistry
Could you say that Physiology is just Biochemistry on a larger body level than the molecular level?
Hi love. I wanna join either Mc or UBC next fall but idek how to apply or even start and go about it. Could you please help me out

😂
Please make more videos like these #BIOCHEM STUDENT
ahaha Will do!! I have been very busy with school but in the future I will! Stay Tuned!!
I have a question for you. You know how for example CompSci majors aspire to work for Microsoft, Google, Facebook......etc.
What are the dream company jobs that a BioChem major would like to work for? I'm curious what are some of the biggest names that are dream companies for BioChem majors?
Thanks for the vid.
Pharma, pharma manufacturing, graduate school, etc
Hello Ma'am ,
I'm a Biochemistry Undergraduate student from India. I'm also pursuing Psychology degree along with Biochemistry. At international level, how much job opportunities a Biochemistry student have? Do we have to study until PhD ? Can you suggests some best International Universities ?
Hello, I'm a chemistry major and I'm planning to do a cross major -biochemistry. I'm looking forward to information about biochemistry, the amount of chemistry involved. I'm also from India and need a biomed student's perspective on this. I also have all the questions you asked. Can you help me out pls with any tiny bit of info
Can we directly work as forensic scientists after getting biochemistry degree or have to do further study?
I have no idea as I have never intended to work in that field. I am assuming there are some overlaps but I am not sure, you might have to do your own research on that.
@@sarahli6425 thanks dear, I really appreciate it. 🙂
I've been wondering about this exact question too. This might help: ruclips.net/video/Pp6CAsqjK3A/видео.html
Omg same this is why I’m in this major
I have the same issue being a biochemistry student. I do better in chemistry and math but I'm a mid at bio. Still enjoy the major, I just need to think differently.
Is there anyway I can speak with you I start school soon and I wanna make sure this is a good major
can a bsc. chem. student take biochemistry for pg.
not sure, sorry
For anyone whos here looking for actual advice, she sounds like she hasnt finished the degree and is also not at a traditional school.. you will definitely take both genetics and analytical chem plus harder classes like physical chem.
The major is hard and typically requires an advanced degree for a good job, but its probably the most interesting topic to me tbh
In my country we don't have chemical biology. Biochemistry is focused on chemistry and there is just a little bit of biology, but we have molecular biology and it's like your biochemistry.
Same
molecular biology is a branch of biochemistry
Hi can we pursue masters in biotechnology or Food technology after bachelors in biochemistry??
i think so, just make sure that you meet all the pre-requisite courses required for that master.
@@sarahli6425 👍😇
What is your plan for the future?
Something that combines science & business together cause I enjoy both areas
Hello, Im just 17yo and incoming college this year. Im both interested in biology and chemistry too. Im kinda confuse now if what am i gonna choose, pharmacy or biochemistry. I think pharmacy is kinda good but im worried about its careers. Im interested about biochemistry and in the school that im going to apply is it's just a three year trimestral. Im curious about what can it do to my future career or what am i going to do after those three years, and which program has more career choices. I'll appreciate a lot to your response!
this is exactly me but i’m 16. What did u choose?
this is exactly me but i’m 16. What did u choose?
I want to be a pharmacist, and I am not sure if I should choose bio, chem or biochem
@@gianinafernandes5598 I'm currently in bs pharmacy now :)
@@raiyanjibraelachiong2289 hi I’m trying to choose between biotechnolog and biochemistry and I don’t know which
So when applying for Biochemistry do you need to apply for life sciences and then second year you choose Biochem?
yes
@@sarahli6425 is it also possible to become a pharmacologist once you get a degree?
I'm torn between clinical biochemist and chem engineer just because the best faculty that's available and dictates the degree of clinical biochem, the faculty of chemistry, has calc 1 and 2 in one semester (they call it mathematics 01 or analysis 1). They do the same for calc 3 and 4 (mathematics 04).
The faculty of engineering, which dictates the chem engineer degree, has all the math in different subjects, which makes it easier to study.
I don't know what to do 😭 (I'm doing the first year of clinical biochemist)
Did u graduate ??
Really, Your video is helpful, Sarah. I have checked your Instagram Account but i didn't found it... 😔
