    I just did a 1500km ride to Broken Hill, Australia (Mad Max country) and picked up a Cornish pasty ( pronounced “parsty” here) from Burra on the way.
    This was in tribute to the Cornish miners who settled the area in the 1800’s.
    I shoved it in my backpack and ate it cold at about the halfway point of the ride, in the middle of the desert, just like the miners would have done back in the day, except for the motorbikes of course.
    It was excellent 😎

    Enjoyed tagging along virtually, I used to know of a good place to get pasties here in California in the "Gold Country". My wife's ancestors were from Cornwall and worked the mines in Nevada County, the pasty shops were a "must visit" when we were in the area. The Cornish miners were in demand because they had expertise in running the pumps that kept the hard rock mines from flooding. BTW this was the very first time I've noticed your subliminal "fine print", my keyboard skills were brought to the test in reading it!

  • @AJSpinDrift
    @AJSpinDrift Год назад +26

    Wow, what a venue. I'm a bike fan, but cars were my first love. As for the pasties, my Cornish wife reliably informs me that a real pasty should be filled with beef skirt, potato, swede, onion and seasoned with salt and lots of cracked black pepper. The filling should be diced and sliced, but not minced, which is a key requirement often overlooked outside of the holy land.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  Год назад +5

      Yes exaclty! Thinking about the decent cornish ones I've had they have chunks of beef not minced....you're making me hungry!!

  • @kevinmobile
    @kevinmobile Год назад +1

    I hate to twist the knife as you've already been teased about tyre pressure checks but having discovered through the TPS that the rear had a significant and possibly unexplained pressure drop, it really would have taken only a minute or two to spin the tyre(s) while the bike was on the centre stand at the meeting point - or before - to check for cuts, foreign objects etc.
    Remember the old adage in aviation, "Don't assume, check!".

    I feel the 'Three Scranneteers' deserve a special quest. To fly North & track down the 'Black Watch Bridie'. An ancient recipe, invented out of pure necessity circa 2006 in the small town of Auchterarder, Perthshire. Approved by the very regiment that proudly carries the name, it consists of a generous base layer of fine Highland haggis, topped off with slices of lightly grilled black pudding, before it's sheer magnificence is then sealed within a half-moon pastry cocoon of delight & baked to perfection.
    As the original bakers have long since retired, the creature may be tricky to track down & could even be extinct . . . but, is it worth 6 hours bouncing around & being deafened in some overpriced hireling's spam-can to find out?
    Gentlemen, the gauntlet lies before you : )

      For the best Bridies and Pies.
      I recommend. The Bakery in the derelict mall in Drumchapple. A bit of an adventure but good pies and bridies.
      Stornoway has the only edible black pudding. Once a decade is enough for me.

    Love these videos thanks again Andy -coolant leak on a brand new bike not great and would make me worry about general quality control. The only bike I've ever properly broken down on - a triumph (2010). You learn from your own mistakes never again.
