Thank you so much for making such a fantastic video featuring our book! Altamira is an incredibly rich and diverse biosphere, it's been super fun to open it up to so many fantastic artists! I hope everyone here will enjoy REFUGIUM in its final form!
Fun fact: Altamira is the name of a city in Pará, Brazil
@@victorrt WHAT?
@@victorrtIt is?
@@SStrawbery yes haha
@@victorrt I was just going to type the same thing lmao
I’m so excited you covered Altamira!! I’m an artist that gets to take part in this awesome project, I can’t wait for everyone to check this out!! This is the BIGGEST spec evo collab ever
It’s you I’ve seen you 😀
Leeeeeeettttttttttttsssss gggggggooooooo
Can you make a spec evo About my Profile picture. I know is a robot😅 But Make it organic organic. I'm a big fan of your work.
@@Terraformer-17 lol, lmao.
Sup cas3
It was a joy contributing art to this project! Awesome to see an entire video dedicated to it!!
The name came from altamira caves?
ELEFANTITO LITERALLY MEAN LITTLE ELEPHANT, THIS IS SO CUTE
I like how the whole "Terraforming an alien planet to make it more suitable for human life" thing is basically one giant metaphor for real-world habitat destruction. Granted, in this case, they're technically just replacing an alien ecosystem with a more Earth-like ecosystem; nevertheless, the parallels are still very much there. There's even the Kicking Wolverton, which was arguably spread to Altamira by accident. If it was accidental, then they'd be a parallel to many invasive species of real-world barnacles, which were inadvertently spread to inland regions when they clung to the bottoms of ships.
It’s even more directly comparable to rats, which humans spread by ships to many regions they weren’t native too, especially islands where they dealt massive devastation.
That's not what the metaphor is at all bro
@@jelqsensei Then share what it is instead of just going "you're wrong", "bro". Unless you're just BS:ing, of course?
@@mokarokas-1727 you never read the bible heathen? the parallel they're going for is pretty obvious
Just think of Australia.
I'm in Europe, but I get anxiety sometimes thinking about how Australia's biosphere has been permanently altered, with the addition of so many placental mammals, that will likely never leave (foxes, rabbits, CATS, dingoes, horses, camels, deer, cattle, banteng, buffalo).
Can't wait to visit there! Pack your bags everyone, tickets are on me!
Thanks man
THANKS!!!😂
yayayay
Thanks for the tickets dude!
I'll take you up on that sir! or mama!
I love the cameos from other spec evolution artists in this project!
I love how so many spec bio creators like Koseman and Ries got together for this, filling in not just the artwork, but the biological info too. What a team!
This looks so cool! The blend of terraformed and not terraformed is always an interesting take!
Stuff like this brings me back to the good old days, reading Heavy Metal and finding articles in the 'Galactic Geographic' docu-fiction by Karl Kofoed.
The art and the way it was written like a scientific paper was such a joy!
You ever read fiction from the "Battletech" setting?
Heck yeah, more spec evo content
İ did kinda miss it too, the philosophy vids are still good but i like these because they don't make me have an existencial crisis
Fuck! And I just beat my addiction to supporting amazing spec evo projects! Damn you CA! Damn you!
*finally*, something to do that isn't scrolling
Fr, i stopped watching shorts just yesterday, and only watching long videos, to cure my brain, i feel much better already, next step is just cutting out social media all together.
Omg u have no idea

I'm so in love with Pinwheels!!!! Absolutely the best insect-parallel i've seen in spec evo works!
Ikr, I wanna get a board and stat collecting those lil guys.

“He's a real nowhere man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody”
This is SO cool, the Avengers of spec evo artists all together on a wonderful book, thanks for covering it man !
Yes! More spec xeno and spec Evo!
Ah yes, canon of my Stellaris playtroughs.
Curious Archive, Subscribed because your videos always make me smile!
Thanks
Ngl i wish we got hour long vids in this channel, i would sit my ass down in heartbeat and watch em fully when they come out, the current short ones are great still, love em
Congratulations CA on being the first RUclips channel I’ve actually turned on notifications for. I need my curiosity fix!!
I saw Jay Eaton's research in their blog but didn't expect you to cover this project so fast! Great video, thank you for bringing more speculative biology to us
I loved this world and its lifeforms! I had seen some of the artist share their work on it on instagram a couple days ago, it was fun to see them portrayed here as researchers and experts!
Makes me think of "what if" sun spiders in Oregon, neat! I love the pinwheel designs especially!
It's incredible that all of my goats come together for this project 🐐🔥
Yes!!! Love seeing Simon Roy featured on this channel. Been a huge fan of his specevo work since coming across his dinosauroids design project years ago.
These videos where you cover some spec-evo or world-building project are my favorites.
Man, how sick would a video covering Eaton's Runaway To The Stars project be~!? That work of theirs is such a delight, being more slice-of-life than just some grand, galactic epic.
The wait for your videos is always worth it , keep it up man
I've been thoroughly enjoying your recent video essays, but it's always nice to see a return to your roots, Archivist!
Your videos are always such a treat👍
Absolutely amazing, the fauna are all so beautifully drawn and realistic, truly think this is one of my favorite worlds yet.
"Snaiad University" 😂
This is so lovingly made! I love that it takes itself seriously at just the right moments to really sell the buy-in. I can't wait for this project to come out!!
this is just what i needed! THANK YOU!!
This is awesome man, keep up the great work
love your stuff, thank you for the entry
This is my favourite RUclips channel / independent media.
Love the references to the authors and their other spec evo projects! This looks like an amazing spec evo project and definitely a book I would read!
I AM SO HAPPY YOU RETURNED TO THE OLD FORMAT!
Instant classic, thank you
I've loved your recent content but I can't understate how happy I am to see another world building deep dive video!
Awesome vid man!
As much as I love your more theoretical videos, it’s awesome to see you getting back into alien/creature biology!
More spec evo, my favorite subgenre
Could you please make a video on the ecosystems of Dathomir
Yo those are the legitimate best bug analogies ive EVER seen for a scifi project. Like theyre common enough looking that you can point one out and go "look a pinwheel" just like bugs BUT, they arent just like small animals or juat bugs again, they have a distinctly alien feel to them. And then you see the SPIRAL THORN QUEEN, and i was just flabbergasted at how creative and visually striking it was at the same time without lessening either. Madly impressive stuff here.
I love this style of video where you document the flora/fauna if a functional world from the perspective of someone in the world. I loved your subnautica videos and this one is great, keep up the good work!
I am so happy you did this! Simon is a wonderful guy and such a creative powerhouse his world building is just brilliant ! this made my night! 😄
Always a great time seeing coverage of these incredible speculative evolution books
this upload just made my whole week ❤️
Welcome to planet Altamira! They can smell your fear
This has to be one of the most diverse and impressive speculative-biology projects yet.
I can't express how much I love this setting! 💚
This looks like South scrimshaw. Haven't watched yet but I'm always happy when I see one of your videos cover a project
Mr archive, thank you for making videos
Love your channel
Your other work is interesting, but this video stands out to me being so fast-paced compared to your others. I like it a lot. I hope you do more like it. love your work CA!
you know it is going to be a good day when you post a vid !!!!!!!!
Please do more videos like this I really enjoy them
Great video!
Keep up the good work
I’m so excited to see another SpecZoo project in the channel!!! ❤️❤️❤️
This one is loaded with top notch artwork.
Alex Reis! Jay Eaton! Simon Roy!
This project is PACKED
glad to see these classic speculative biology vids return!
Your videos are such a blessing. One day I am going to make my own world of speculative evolution, inspired by watching this channel.
i love how all the artists get their own in universe rpg roles
Fascinating insight into a terraformed planet
omg this is so beautiful!
Your vid are literally my inspiration ó//ò
so happy that i recognized a lot of these artists!!
Altamira sounds amazing!
The intro is fantastic.
Wow :O, I really love this kind of video. Biology is so cool :D
Wow, this felt like the Super Smash Bros of spec bio creators!!! It is very cool to see so many artists working in such a unique and expansive project; congratulations for all the wonderful work everyone did, including Curious Archive for sharing it with us ^^
Was so cool being a part of this world!
Your the first person I watch after I beat cancer!!!
Love these speculative zoology videos.
P.S. you should make a video breaking down some fan made monster concepts for Monster Hunter. Would be interesting to hear your on them.
These fellas feel pretty fresh! Excellent stuff.
I’m so happy about the new upload
Also I would love for you to cover the idea of resurrection of the dead
YAAAYYY HE UPLOADED AGAIN!!!
More curious archive! motivation once more!
New curious archive video 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥

the name Altamira has to be a play on words for All tomorrow's
Awesome video as always! Are you planning on doing a video on Stray possibly?
This is so awesome 🤩

Good video
omg i got so excited when i heard one of my favourite artists Jay Eaton mentioned! i love their work so much it’s what got me interested in speculative biology and such
I backed this on kickstarter and I can't wait to read it!
i love to find more of Alex rise's work :]
YOUR VIDEOS ARE THE BEST😊
The squilloids look absolutely gas
I love this world, its so colorful and full of life!!
Also im early, yay
I really like the alien designs. They don't feel too earth-like but also not too alien.
HELL YEAH
A @RoanokeGaming collab would be amazing. His knowledge of biology would be perfect for this type of world
Another great video I will watch twice and like twice and comment twice.
Awesome sauce
