thank you for sharing your story. i have been obese my whole life, i was 395 at my heaviest and i always wanted to lose weight but wasn't willing to put in the effort. like you i was a binge eater and ate way too much fast food. i also found obese to beast back in july and got inspired and in just under 6 months i have lost 80 pounds. i still have probably another 100-110 to go but i know i can do it. i am working on making small sustainable changes and can already seriously feel the difference in the way i feel every day. i also have just been working out at home. i live in a city so i typically walk 4-5 miles a day now and i lift weights at home 3-4 times a week. strangely enough the change i've already made is what keeps me going. i know i can do this. i'm almost halfway to my goal. i just have to keep going and keep taking care of and loving my body and i will get to where i want to be with time. i relate to so much of your story and appreciate hearing about how you managed to change. keep it up!
I'm currently going from "no six pack but not fat" to "lean as i can be" so obviously this was recommended. Have to post this based on what you said about being scared to go to the gym. As someone who loves to lift, it is always a priority of mine to ensure people that are dealing with weight problems feel safe and secure at the gym. Sure, theres gonna be some yelling and grunting when someone is reppin a lot or going for a PR, but do not ever be intimidated by that- EMBRACE it, and make it your own. We go there to fight our own physical/mental/emotional battles. If youre already lean or got a lotta muscle, consider yourself at the point youve invaded Berlin and the battle has turned in your favor. If you're not that, consider yourself as invading the beaches of Normandy. It's the roughest terrain, so the last thing anyone in the gym should do is bring you down and make it rougher. As they say at hardcore shows, this is YOUR stage. Embrace it 🔥🔥🔥
Good for you man, you look great! I got out of the military after some injuries and surgeries and gained a bunch of weight during the recovery process, especially from food deliveries during Covid. I lost 80 lbs, gained 20 back, and now I’m back down again. It’s a weird battle but I’m conquering it for good this time. Congrats once again!
All love thank you! It's 100% a marathon and not a sprint. Take your time to rest up and get after it when you have the motivation. Pushing through it all is one thing, but getting the rest and getting after it all when you have the motivation is 100% where I got my best progress! Thanks for your service!
Thank you for sharing your story! I'm at 225 now from being 300 at the top of this year. Breaking up with my girlfriend of 11 years is unfortunately what put everything in perspective for me. I've been on a diet break for the last month since I was definitely hitting a plateau, and its definitely hard to stay motivated through the winter, but you've inspired me to keep getting after it, thanks man! My relationship with food was by far the biggest enemy in my case, I never succeeded at just going to the gym because I never changed my eating habits, and I was definitely a binge eater and emotional eater for a long time, but doing keto and intermittent fasting has made a really big difference for me.
My relationship with food has been all over the place during this time man, it's totally ok. There's even some days where I'm like "I ate too much last night, I don't deserve to eat today." and I still have to break that habit. It's horrible. keep at it and just know some small set backs mean nothing in the grand scheme of things!
Great video! Honestly deserves WAY more views - was really interesting to see your journey and what steps you took to lose a massive amount of weight in such a short timeframe. A lot of it actually lines up with my life and history - been a metal drummer since I was a teenager (learned by playing Guitar Hero drums on an e-kit) and hit my full height early (5'8/5'9 at about 12/13) whilst also carrying more weight than most, ever since I was a kid. I've spent most of my fully-grown life at about 250lbs or so and most of it has been with relatively low muscle mass (stopped drumming in my late teens/early 20s) but a huge catalyst for muscle gain was getting back on the kit. I saw myself on video earlier this year after getting out from behind the kit and thought "damn I really look big here, I gotta do something about this" and weighed myself a couple of days later for the first time in years and was shocked when the scale said 265lbs. That was a turning point for me, and have been slowly losing weight over most of this year (with plenty of ups and downs) but now sitting at a comfortable 240lbs. I started taking it more seriously in early August when I was 260lbs so I see that as a pretty good rate of weight loss with simple diet changes and starting to get back into lifting, however after the 12wk diet mark I started getting very fatigued and low-energy, so have been in maintenance for the last few weeks at 240/245lbs with the plan to continue in a deficit come January. One thing I'm curious about (as a drummer) is if you've noticed any changes with your performance behind the kit - one thing I've always suffered from is lack of stamina which I've always associated with my weight, although for the last few years I've only had the chance to play once or twice a week for an hour or so (plus 30 mins for setup/teardown) but I now have a rehearsal space where I can leave my kit up permanently so I'm looking to practice much more in the new year, which I'm hoping will allow me to not get as exhausted when playing for more than an hour at a time - and maybe help with a bit of weight loss in itself! Anyway, enough rambling - keep up the good work and would love to see more fitness stuff from you, you've earned a sub!! :)
Dude thank you very much! Funny enough, I learned the same way! Guitar hero and RockBand literally taught me everything haha. One thing I did notice for sure, was I had to basically "Re-Learn" how to move behind the kit once I lost the weight. My body twisted and moved so much differently once I slimmed down in the mid section it was crazy. My stamina improved as well! No more winded and drained after 2 or 3 tracks LOL! I also noticed some arm gains back once I started playing more too. Drums are a great full body workout!
@@reedro77 Oh cool!! Rhythm game bros lets goooo 🤜🤛 That's really interesting to hear - tbh I didn't even think about movements being so much different but it makes sense lol, really excited to see what the difference is for me in a year or so's time when I'm hopefully down to about 200lbs! Appreciate the response man 🤘
This is tight man. I'm a bigger dude that has been wanting to make a change for a long time, but I've never been able to force myself over the hump. Hearing you talk about the compliments was kind of impactful though. You're right though, I just have to do it. I'm think I'm going to try starting at a diet change. Once that's in place I'll slowly start incorporating some more. Side note, I just became your 1000th Instagram follower. Is your old bands music still up anywhere?
Dude, Thank you so much! Absolutely. You have to just hit the gas and go for it. However, give yourself the props for even getting started. don't lose sight of your end goal! all love for the instagram follow too. You can check out some of my old bands stuff still floating around here and there!

AGREED. The best feeling was conquering that fear and being STOKED to step in the gym the next time around!

I fully relate to this, lost 80, now back up 30 trying to get back to that 😭
You got this!
