- Explore the charming and picturesque village of Chedworth, nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, England. This village boasts a unique blend of old and modern Cotswold stone architecture.
Chedworth is known as the location of Chedworth Roman Villa, administered since 1924 by the National Trust.
Much of the parish lies on the high Cotswolds at 180-250 m. but a broad valley, formed by a tributary of the river Coln, is its central feature and on the north and east the land falls fairly steeply to the Coln.
The Chruch, St Andrews - The original 12th century building was rebuilt in the 13th and 15th centuries. The north aisle was rebuilt in 1883.

Thank you for this. I went to school here in the 1970’s / early ‘80’s, and didn’t live too far away from the actual village, coming into school by bus. This was a trip down memory lane

I left the Cotswolds Minchinhampton area after living there all my life ....to work in the City....but still Stroud valleys in my blood...nothing quite compares....but when I go back looks like Chelsea has moved in....well at least at weekends....enjoyed your video....on leaving UNI my first job was working for the Gloucestershire Trust for Nature Conservation your video was good therapy.....although I now live in semi rural South Bedfordshire with fantastic road and rail links.....I miss the Daneway Inn pub garden on a summers evening and cycling to the Tunnel House (out of RAC term time)....may watch a few more of your videos today as wet and dull outside Dec 2023.and hanging on the phone from position 14......now position 4! Merry Christmas!

I'm in Canada and knew nothing of the gorgeous scenery etc. until I came across the TV series "Father Brown". I own all 9 seasons with about 100 episodes. Every time I watch I saw more and more fantastic scenes outdoors as well as a lot of the homes etc.etc. I love old buildings, churches and peaceful villages so I went on a search and found some videos...fell in love even more and want so much to one day see them, smell them and be enveloped by them. Beautiful English village.
But I worry, how much longer does it have left before it’s invaded like other parts of the Uk….
ok, i want to leave a comment not so very flattering but it is my impression, this village is quite strange, it is not a real village, like farmers, animals, fouls around, and then there is not a garden around any house either. Without these fairly modern cars, it is like walking right into a bleak Charles Dickens movie set.
Do such places as this really exist, looks like hobbits could live here?! There is even a greeting cat!
Yes! While the vernacular changes wherever you go in the UK (in the past people could only use the building materials that were available reasonably locally, so for example the type of stone may be different - where I grew up the whole area is on a huge seam of red sandstone, so many old houses are sandstone), every village in the UK will have old buildings of various description. Some villages are in conservation areas, like this village in the Cotswolds, so you may see fewer newer buildings and they may have to be built in a certain way (though there's almost nowhere in the UK where new-builds aren't allowed at all). Villages not in conservation areas will have more of a mix of buildings, but they'll all have many old buildings.
You can generally have a good idea where older buildings are in the UK just by their appearance.

If you’re asking is it possible to go on vacation in the Cotswolds…of course. There’s plenty of b&b, hotels and holiday lets etc. Not the cheapest though.
Chedworth, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. detached freehold. £1 - £1.5 million. Zoopla.
