- Check out how I like to fix broken off guides on fishing rods. In this particular case I tackle a salt water wire line fishing rod that has a busted guide. This method of replacement can be applied to any guid that needs fixing. Stripped, replaced, and refinished to brand new, ready to be fished again. There is not much info on how to fix a broken fishing rod guide and some think it is harder to do than it really is!

I replaced a few guides on my rod by hand before I saw this and even though I just did it quick and dirty I really appreciate how nice yours look! I hope to make my next repair look 1/10th as good as those!

Great training video! Thanks, needing to repair my antique 52 year old rod for my grandson. Also you mentions air bubble surfacing on the finish. I believe that is the epoxy gassing off in curing. The only thing I am curious what other epoxy’s you have tried?

Have you ever used a low temp solder to resolder your old guid to be reused if you don't have one to replace it with?
I’ve seen it done and guys use like jb weld but idk I’d rather just redo

I haven’t done a production rod as everything I kept ordering wasn’t up to spec and then Covid….. but I do make custom rods now. Just about every rod i fish is a custom. If you want me to make you one hit DM me on instagram and we can brainstorm!
