  • This SHOULD be all of them. All the unique lines are subtitled, the generic ones are not.
Londrekia alone carries around half of these interactions while the other 40% is related to Amnesia.
I have many expectations for UNI2 and one of them would be for voice-lines to not overlap with each other like this. Also, of course, more unique lines in general.
    Clash Intros please?

EDIT: Also added Yuzu's throw line against Hyde.
Turns out that I did miss some. I've put the videos in the cards when they're relevant.
Wald vs. Merk Match Win Line: Wald has a set line for male/female opponents but he also has one for Voids and Merkava is the only void thus far.
Merk vs. Orie: There's an alternate voice line from Orie when she loses a match.
If further investigation yields more results, I'll just make a separate addendum video.

Another W video for translating what most of the character says

unsure if you've gone over this before as this video mostly seems to be intros/outros, but i think it's worth mentioning that some characters have character-specific lines in-battle too? namely yuzuriha, who has an extra voice line vs. hyde when she lands a throw on him. think it's something like [あんたって子は!] which would roughly translate to her calling hyde a man-child or whatever it was again lol

I've played this game for seven years and a lot of my frequent sparring partners were Yuzuriha players but I somehow never picked up that she had that extra line against Hyde on her throw. It was such a regular occurrence that it whizzed right past me.
She actually never calls him a man child, she just uses 少年 (shounen) instead. I never did like UNIEL's translations.
And yeah, I still kept it contained to intros/outros while the only thing I did with battle lines was with Gordeau and Wagner because that's the most blatant one but nobody had made a video about it.

All these Gord interactions and I cant speak Japanese. Im crying.
I hope UNI2 considers adding an English dub. It kind of needs it to be honest.

@@DeepestDankest Why? Just wondering. I think an English dub would only benefit the game. A lot of people, myself included. Want to know what the characters are saying when they fight. Especially since there are unique interactions.
I understand that many fighting games stay in Japanese, which is fine! But UNI2 is trying its best to reach old and new audiences and I feel like adding an English dub would help people get more engaged with the game. Especially since BBTAG helped spread awareness of UNICLRS existence to more people.

I disliked a majority of the dub voices from Tag for UNI.
Raspy-voiced Linne who sounds like Mandy from Grim and Evil? Pass
Literally Tjorborn from Overwatch when Wald is supposed to be German? Pass
      Surfer bro-dude Carmine? Hard Pass
      A Vatista without onomatopoeia? Pass
Seth without the deep voice? Pass
Yuzu without a high voice? Pass
Merkava also sounds wrong but that's probably because of the people behind the character lines for Tag. I have smaller issues with Hyde, Orie, Gordeau, and Hilda but generally I dislike most of their battle lines too.
Plus in UNI2's context it doesn't seem like its trying to cater to a wider audience when it's mostly maintaining its own identity instead of branching out for casualization's sake.

@@DeepestDankest I totally get it, but if I may agree and defend some of these voices. Linnes voice sucks. I will agree with you on that. When you find out that she's a princess in a 10 year old body and is 300 years old. The voice just doesn't match the character and she's not fun to listen to either. I also had problems with Wald and Seth as well because they do sound so stereotypical and there VA'S add nothing new.
Carmine I'm gonna defend a bit. I understand in UNI he was meant to be portrayed a lot more sadisticly, and there are hints of that in his English VA'S performance, but the reason I liked it is because his voice stood out from the rest of the UNI cast. That's probably why the VA did it since a lot of the voices, in a weird way, sound super samey. I understand that the surfer voice might not fit the place or tone of UNIs story, but I liked how ironic it is in tone and, again, that made his voice memorable compared to someone like Seth's or Waldstiens.
Hydes problem is that they didn't make him funny. In UNI, that was half of his character and for some reason. BBTAG, um, forgot that Hyde can be endearing and funny and removed that trait from him completely in BBTAG. With one or two exceptions (Akasuki/Hyde interactions) and some of the conversations he has with other characters are...terrible? Hydes and Mais conversation. How did that get an ok? Considering that Linne is a girl and is technically leading the charge in UNI sooo... A lot of it is just what the VA was given to say. If Hyde had more comedic lines. I honestly believe he would be much more memorable. Without it, he's just another Seth in a lot of scenes and that's unfortunate.
Gordeau I'm gonna defend with every ounce of my being. His voice was perfect for the character. The way his lines shift in tone on a dime, especially during his supers is great. He's funny, caring, apologetic, endearing, selfless. There is a character here where as someone like Seth is extremely one note. Out of all the VAs in BBTAG as far as UNI is concerned. Gords, to me, is the best. He brought this character to life and gave him a personality. Most of the UNI characters don't even get that. His voice specifically is why I want an English dub because it's already so incredibly good that not having it at all would make UNI2 feel like it's missing out.
A quick note on other characters VAS in BBTAG
      Yuzu - memorable
      Merkava - eh
Hilda - hate the character. Love the voice.
Mika - good enough. Needed more material to work with
      Orie - pretty boring
I think I got everyone. But yes, I completely understand your argument. I honestly wouldn't mind if UNI2 stayed in Japanese. I just want a way to figure out what each character is saying to each other. Be it subtitles, or something else that could work. A lot of people want to hear those unique conversations without trying to find a way to translate them. Those conversations help the player connect more with the character as a whole. That's why I think it needs it, but your also right too.

I personally do not think memorable for being bad is worth another shot for Carmine. I wholeheartedly disliked it and hope to never listen to it again.
Hyde's english voice during dialogue was okay, I just don't think the battle lines were any good. But Tag in general was a rushed fucking mess of a game so generally speaking everyone's lines, even the Japanese ones, sound significantly worse off than their home game.
Same with Gordeau, he's fine in dialogue but his battle lines leave something to be desired compared to the Japanese. I guess he sounds way too casual in english when he's supposed to be relishing a fight. Gord's easily the best dub work from the cast but that doesn't mean I prefer him over Kosuke Toriumi's work by any stretch.
I think Hilda's voice would be perfect if she was any other character. She literally sounds too competent in english and that's just not Hilda. Yuzu in english doesn't sound endearing at all, the casual onee-san vibe just doesn't work in english.
Just on an empirical level I do not think Tag's dub work is worth keeping. Subtitles would be the smarter way to go but localizers apparently can't be trusted to work any more than they allegedly say they do these days.
