I played and still play bbtag on the switch, and man it’s kinda strange when you can go into a lobby and it’s the same 20 people playing and they remember you. Made me feel like a key part of the community despite not being the best at the game
This is my first, and favorite fighting game. I have clocked in over 1300 hours on steam and its still the one I have the most fun with even after playing GGST, Uniclr, CF, MBTL and some others. I hope this game keeps going with whatever strength it has left, its such an important game to me personally.
I love the game and sank the same amount of hours but I really did wish they finished releasing all the characters in the rosters and had at least a quarter of the playerbase that Strive and Fighterz has so I don't have to always look for matches in Discord.
BBTAG was a great experience. I still remember getting really hyped when 2.0 was announced, and even if I don't really play it nowadays, I still think the game is cool. I'm hoping there's some more BlazBlue stuff in the future too. I really love playing Centralfiction, even if I'm really bad at it Plus I wanna see more of Makoto cuz she's a cool character LMAO
Fun fact: the reason why rwby is in the game is because the creator said on an interview "i like rwby" and roster teeth was like: "you want the lisence?"
BBTAG is literally the reason why I got good at playing fighting games, especially maining Akatsuki. I was so obsessed with Akatsuki, and still am, that I literally learned how to do combos and learning how to read inputs for him lol

Arc System also helped Wayforward who are the makers of the Shantae series make RWBY Arrowfell which is an action platform game so Rooster Teeth have given Arc System the license to make RWBY games and since most of the people who still play BBTAG are RWBY fans it could be possible that they’re testing the waters for a RWBY fighting game and how much people would buy it.
Haven’t gotten into bb tag cause I wanted to play older fighting games first but seeing the continued success of it, I really really hope we can get an ARCSYS complete crossover with guilty gear and all the other anime franchises
Arcsys actually came out saying why the cast of BB and GG wont ever cross, and its cause they dont want the two competing against each other. As it stands now with its fans you either like BB, GG or both, but there hasnt been any hate or major discussion of which is the best/who is the best between the two and Arcsys wants to keep it that way.
I may not like BBTAG, like at all, but I do hope this game does see continued success, mostly because I've come to love BlazBlue most of all and I appreciate the dubbing work that went into this game
I know this has been a very polarizing game in the blazblue community, but I really like this game. It got me into the blazblue franchise, which I am loving as I play it. I get the issues people are having, but I wish they kept going with supporting it and added so many more characters. It's so fun
The issue with bbtag is that it has "blazblue" on the tittle, it could have had a diff name like all stars or sowething like that; but no , they decided to put "blazblue" on the tittle in a time where we were starving for another sequel for central fiction

Yes, the blazblue series isn't super mainstream, but we saw nick all stars and multiverses pretty much die within months after launch, and those were backed by much bigger names. Sadly, most anime fighters just don't live for long times, with some getting extended community support. If they kept content support up and made some quality of life changes, I have no doubt it would have done better. I'm only on continuum shift extended, so I can't speak much on the sequel part, but I look forward to still playing it and finding out
I honestly expected more from the game, especially when it was announced that RWBY characters would be added in. I immediately thought they would add characters like Pyrrha, Cinder and Adam. Not only that but I also thought they would add more Senran Kagura and Arcana Heart characters. Instead the game was half baked and that’s what killed it for me.
I started playing Bbtag recently when I noticed it on gamepass. However as someone whos nervous about getting steamrolled by hardened veterans all I've done is lab combos in training mode and i have to say this games combo game is SMOOTH AS BUTTER. I havent watched any tutorials or anything, but even a casual like myself can find decent routes and excecute them without too much technical difficultly, just need the fundamentals down and you've got yourself some combos to try out.
I don't play it the same amount as I used to, but I still greatly enjoy this game. I'll still never forget seeing that trailer at EVO 2018, thinking to myself that it might be time for me to dip from the genre, only for that trailer to pull me back in, lol!
I hope that with the coverage and amount of people still enjoying the game, that we get another situation like GBVS:Rising where we get a mega update, one thing that I would like for them to do is finish the arcade mode that was reportedly in production but left unfinished. Would give the Game Corner an actual purpose, don’t know what else they could add but here’s hoping.
I had a lot of fun playing with my friends back in the day even though i only had the small base game back then It was bad when i only played blazblue but now that I've played all the fighters it's even cooler to see all these characters together

Honestly i love this game. Found out about it at my local anime con and played it since then. It was so fun and whem i realized the local scene had little to no players i continued to introduce it to many of my friends. After playing the game so many times i never got tired , easy combat, cool d pad combos and colorful characters with recognizable faces. I was suprised it hadnt grown bigger. As a persona and rwby fan i did nothing more besides wait for the day that somewhere out the darkness people would give it the break it deserved. With so much potential i figured rwby could gain an entire roster. Team JNPR, cinder, maybe even the maidens as dlc. Regardless of the vast wasteland that has become a scattered community im still rooting for this game. Maybe someone one day might even pick up this model and start another bb tag w a bigger roster:(. Nonethe less this game always has my support

I have like 200 hours into Tag on my Switch, it releasing on Gamepass got my friend FINALLY try the series! She loves Tag so far! (She's a huge RWBY fan!) I'm very happy about that, this series means alot to me. Yeah, alot of people despise Tag, I get it's not for everyone, but I kinda prefer this game over Central Fiction once in awhile. (the major factor of it having it's dub while CF doesn't.)

As a Xbox Series X owner i was beyond excited for this game to come to the console! I bought the game the second it dropped in the Microsoft store! And having it in gamepass mrans alot of people can try it out for free! So those online lobbies should be packed!
It was the first game I had on Switch, I bought it because I played Blazblue in the past and it cost not much. I still play it nowadays, it is also very beautiful to look at, I'm not surprised by its longevity
The first BlazBlue game I played was Calamity trigger and I really liked that game idk why I stopped playing, I recently got back into the game like a week ago but I was already intrested in cross tag because it had rwby characters so i had been thinking about blazblue for a while. The game was fun, and I made a lot of great friends in the community as a result, but the neglect from the devs and the overwhelming bias to keep Ruby top tier, the refusal to nerf her, and the latest DLC drop characters, particularly Yumi, remaining as stupidly stong as she was were huge turnoffs for me in the long run. I'll also never forgive Arcsys for nerfing Hazama because of 1 single tournament player/
As a Gordeau main, I have such a grudge on Ruby you have no idea. When the 2.0 patch came out. They nerfed Gordeau into oblivion but gave Ruby a slap on the wrist due to them having a broken combo when paired up together. I only started playing in early 2022 and I knew pretty quickly that I was going to main him. However, when I learned how nerfed he was. It just made me sad because I always seemed to pick the characters that always get nerf bombed or are low tier for some reason (Ike, Marth, and Lucario are mine from smash.) Yet, no nerfs for Adachi, Hilda or Yumi (who new players pick up to just spam and win because they know they can) or no fixes to multiple characters movesets like Naoato (Persona) or Nine who can end matches early with a insta kill move which, I feel, defeats the whole purpose of astrals in general. I still play the game though because I do love it that much. Learning combos is strangely addicting as someone who has only played smash brothers before. Plus, I'm a big Gordeau stan now 😂. I want to try undernight since it is on switch, but I fear the player base is just as low as BBTAG.
I tried jumping back in to BBTAG to coach a friend on fighting games and and it completely fucked me up how different it felt as opposed to Melty Blood Type Lumina
I recently got into this game because of Gamepass (and it is the only fighting game to date with RWBY characters, plus it also has Persona characters) and I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people were online. Almost always throughout the entire day there is an almost full casual lobby. Clearly a lot of new players came to the game like me. Glad to find another ArcSys game I can enjoy other than Guilty Gear (I get my ass kicked too much in that game. Not beginner friendly at all, but I still love it).
This may came as for shocked for some, But i've been waiting for this game for years to be officially Port on the Xbox Store, thankfully before that happen, Guilty Gear and other from Arc System has port to Xbox first, then days ago after realized One tweet within a Hashtag Xbox, I got jumped of excited and look it up that I found out that BBTAG has official been included but as btea that night, but a day after, I bought it with a Pass, and played the hell out of it. While the gameplay felt different than usual Blazblue, But i had a blast for it! But it is worth waiting for it for years!
Seeing RWBY characters in this game makes me think a RWBY fighting game made by ArcSys would be the coolest thing! And RWBY has so many characters with crazy Weapons/Powers
Forgot this game existed. Had some good times with it even though I never bought it and only talked trash about it. Guess it did help Under Night get recognition, so big ups.
I played this game on PS4 for a couple of years and loved it but had to switch to Xbox bc PS5 is truly expensive where I live, so imagine my big smile when I heard BBTAG and GGS were coming to my current main console. Been playing the heck out of both games and ranked matches pop up in matter of seconds every night. The xbox community has a lot of players that love FG and it shows now with these recent releases and even old games such as DOA6, MKX and Tekken still have plenty of players online every day
Something can't die if it's already been dead all along. But yeah, ASW doesn't seem to care about the game, if they ever did care. From the rushed development, to the lackluster support, to just how incomplete so much still feels...they've mishandled whatever potential this crossover could have had. It just remains as a joke for people to point and laugh at. And really, it's not surprising. Ever since ASW got "Guilty Gear" back, that's basically been their main priority. Even back with "CF", there were notable downgrades or outright missing aspects coming from "CP". "BBTAG" had even more issues, to the point Mori got demoted afterwards. And after "Dark Wars", it crashed and burned so badly that Mori ended up leaving the company. The closest thing we have to a continuation is "Chaos Effect"...a rogue-like outsourced in China. ASW themselves have nothing to do with it besides granting the license. This has been a trend of them increasingly not caring. I wouldn't be shocked if the only reason they even acknowledge the game is so that they can do the bare minimum with it. They can cheaply slap the game around on whatever for some extra sales.
Maybe they could make another crossover game but this time using characters from dragon ball, guilty gear and granblue. Might be something to think about
The saddest thing with BBTag for me personally is at the time of its announcement, I considered myself a big fan of RWBY so it was hype, but now I hate it because of its terrible writing and seeing the characters just fills me with sadness and disgust at such wasted potential. RWBY is absolutely not going strong, theres no hype for the series anymore. The only thing that keeps it alive today is cringe Twitter shippers, R34 coomers, and pure desperation from Rooster Teeth trying not to be sold off by Warner Media despite atrocious management.
This game is still one of the coolest things to ever exist. Who the hell would’ve expected a crossover between fucking RWBY, Persona, Blazblue, and Under night?? It’s just still so crazy to see Ruby Rose next to Yu Narukami…
I still have fond memories of this game. One of the first games I did decent modding for, one of the first games I made custom palettes for, and my very first fighting game & Switch game period (in reverse order). Had I not been in a bit of a RWBY phase in HS coming in just for the prospect of playing as canon best girl (she literally said it herself) Weiss Schnee + having a passing knowledge of Persona to use it as a bouncing off point (Naoto in this game is so good and I kinda wish her VA here came back to redub her in the Steam re-release of P4G), I would've never picked this up or even gotten into MegaTen as a whole. Glad I did, and Tag still holds a soft spot for me to this day. Long Live BBTAG!
I started playing bbtag after all the updates were completely done but man was it a blast to play woth friends on switch, but when i played bbtag again on xbox man the lobbies were much larger than i expected, heck the main lobby is commonly full (for now), I'm just glad i can play it again like it again in a much more alive state
I bought this game for the persona 4 characters but when i played story mode and found how interesting the BlazBlue characters were i looked up there Franchise now I am a BlazBlue fan
As an xbox player this was so hype. Was super bummed years ago to find out it released on everything but an xbox. Bought it on the switch (that i barely play)
I'm so happy it's on Game Pass I used to play this back a lot on launch Nonstop I really hope we get a sequel in the future or maybe if we're lucky enough more dlc
My only gripe with the game was that it held back the craziness it could have had just to be appealing to a casual Audience. Without going into a giant rant, to give an example of what I mean by holding back, take Ryu for example in both Street Fighter and the The vs Capcom series. In both games Ryu will always feel like ryu, but in the vs series, he feels more...."super" for a lack a better word. But he never feels "different". Comparing the characters in BBTAG to the OG games, they are quite literally different. The removed moves and normals and simplified them to all hell. And that was the part I hated about BBTAG. But eventually I was able to look past that and enjoyed it. But I still will never forgive them for adding Jubei, Platinum and Celica but never added Bang Shishigami. That was an unforgivable crime.
a big turnoff for me in this game was the simplicity of the combos. I know it sounds annoying to hear someone say that but for me personally, i had played UNICLR before i played BBTAG. Practicing combos in UNICLR just felt so rewarding to finally get down. When i switched to the same characters in bbtag (i.e yuzu and seth), It was almost like a slap in the face for all the time i spent learning them in the other game lol. Again, this is just me personally, but the combo simplicity just made it feel not as rewarding to play.
I understand that turnoff. That also turned me off for similar reasons. Especially because I grew used to how Under Night does it, and I feel UN had an amazing combo system that was simple, but complex in all the right ways and was rewarding once it clicked. One of my UN mains is Vatista, who is infamous for her learning curve. So seeing how simplified she became in BBTAG felt offputting, and nowhere near as fun. Had similar reactions towards BB and P4A characters that I played as well with their BBTAG selves.
Yeah, Imma be honest, as someone who hasn’t taken the full plunge into fighting games and has only really put effort into Street Fighter IV, Smash Bros, P4 Arena, and hasn’t touched Soul Calibur since since 2, the *only* reason I’m still considering playing BBTAG still after all these years is RWBY. It’s the closest I could get to playing as the characters, even with other RWBY games having been made.
Fr, I don't care about BBTAG. I just want a sequel to Undernight In Birth because I feel it deserves a second shot. Out of all the characters in BBTAG. I found the UNICL cast the most fun to play (and honestly? The most asteticly pleasing to look at) with some of the most unique designs in the game (just personal taste. The blazblue character designs are pretty cool too 😊) I want to play UNICLR, but what sucks is if I tried to do it now. I'll only be fighting other players who have played the game since release, and that's not fun. I want to learn the game alongside everyone else, and I sadly missed out on that. I know a sequel to UNICLR is unlikely to happen, but it would be cool since I have grown attached to a lot of them after BBTAG (Gordeau, Hyde, Markava, Yuzu, and strangely Carmine are all fun to play and listen too. They deserve to get more recognition along with the rest of the cast.)
Ive been in love with this game for the last couple of days ive been playing it, i have had no interaction at all with any of the franchises involved but damn ive enjoyed it, the lobbies(for game pass) are constantly at a 100-200 player population so its pretty easy to find matches. I grew up in marvel vs capcom and nothing has scratched that itch I had like this, even inspired me to order an old Blazblue game on PS3 and to try P4 on game pass, perfect as a side game while I wait for SF6 and after.
From what I've heard about this game (No I haven't played it yet, not because I'm an XBone player) it seems like it's a decent game with a lot of missed potential (Not a whole bunch of modes, the character selection being kind of unbalanced with the different fates, (Like not a lot of RWBY characters but BlazBlue taking up most of the roster) and the simpler control scheme without a more technical option) and it definitely seems like more updates could solve this problem, if they would take some time to give updates for some solutions to the problems I just listed it, probably would ended better than it did.
It does have a lot of problems that probably could of been fixed with an extra update or two, but for what it is I enjoy coming back every so often to play.
@@captainmega6310 Well I was talking about the fact that series such as Arcana Heart and Akasuki Blitskamf (I definitely didn't spell that right) might as well not even be there because of how much one series is represented, the MVC series keeps the roster balanced because you get an equal amount of Marvel and Capcom, and to keep one series from being overrepresented and not have one steal the show, I understand what you're saying but when you're making a crossover you have to keep some sort of balance between the stuff you're crossing over.

I remember hearing something, and bear in mind this is all speculation on my part. ArcSys does not want Guilty gear and Blazblue throughout the same lifespan. Most likely because, people will pick and choose which game they would prefer between the two, and is therefore a net loss in terms of sales for double the work. The theory is that Arcsys wants to wait until Strive becomes irrelevant to start pushing towards a new Blazblue game. If this is true, this could explain their pushes more towards tag, rather than a push towards a new game.
Arcsys in an interview said BlazBlue isn't dead. They said they wanted to focus on guilty gear for now because releasing a new title of one of their big hitters while another is correctly being supported and pushed will kill the activity of one of each or worse both. Also keep in mind all the other fighters that were released recently that have arcsys name on it are titles they don't own. Just hired to work on
Even after finishing single player I still love BBCTB as I love fighting games with the retro type art style like jojo's bizarre adventure heritage for the future or guilty gear just to name a couple but blazblue cross tag battle took the art style that I loved and added some of the most satisfying combat I've ever had the pleasure of playing and also included air combos which I love. BBCTB has some flaws but is and forever will be my favourite fighting game
The physical version of Special Edition is only available in Japan, and I found out that the DLC content is via download code. My question is, does a Japanese download code work on a non-Japanese account? (I’m on Switch, btw).
I saw an article saying that arcsys doesn't want guilty gear and Blazblue to compete, so once strive is done, maybe, just maybe, we'll see blazblue get it's chance at the spotlight again.
Honestly, it wasn't really anything I had against mechanics. The netcode was horrid at the time I played at launch. Kind of do wanna get back to see how I like it with Rollback, just kind of worried that if I get it on Ps4, I would spend money to find empty rooms

I've recently picked this up to play with friends, and it super unique and extremely fun. It's crazy how fast matches are over too.
This news make me happy, I got into the game fairly recently and it's nice to see ASW willing to keep the game alive.
I don't play it the same amount as I used to, but I still greatly enjoy this game. I'll still never forget seeing that trailer at EVO 2018, thinking to myself that it might be time for me to dip from the genre, only for that trailer to pull me back in, lol!

Honestly i love this game. Found out about it at my local anime con and played it since then. It was so fun and whem i realized the local scene had little to no players i continued to introduce it to many of my friends. After playing the game so many times i never got tired , easy combat, cool d pad combos and colorful characters with recognizable faces. I was suprised it hadnt grown bigger. As a persona and rwby fan i did nothing more besides wait for the day that somewhere out the darkness people would give it the break it deserved. With so much potential i figured rwby could gain an entire roster. Team JNPR, cinder, maybe even the maidens as dlc. Regardless of the vast wasteland that has become a scattered community im still rooting for this game. Maybe someone one day might even pick up this model and start another bb tag w a bigger roster:(. Nonethe less this game always has my support

I have like 200 hours into Tag on my Switch, it releasing on Gamepass got my friend FINALLY try the series! She loves Tag so far! (She's a huge RWBY fan!) I'm very happy about that, this series means alot to me. Yeah, alot of people despise Tag, I get it's not for everyone, but I kinda prefer this game over Central Fiction once in awhile. (the major factor of it having it's dub while CF doesn't.)
I tried it back in 2020 (back when I was new to fighters) and wasn't a big fan. It's nice to see it still get love

As a Xbox Series X owner i was beyond excited for this game to come to the console! I bought the game the second it dropped in the Microsoft store! And having it in gamepass mrans alot of people can try it out for free! So those online lobbies should be packed!
It was the first game I had on Switch, I bought it because I played Blazblue in the past and it cost not much. I still play it nowadays, it is also very beautiful to look at, I'm not surprised by its longevity
The first BlazBlue game I played was Calamity trigger and I really liked that game idk why I stopped playing, I recently got back into the game like a week ago but I was already intrested in cross tag because it had rwby characters so i had been thinking about blazblue for a while. I'm thinking about playing the other games as I'm having a lot of fun with Cross and did really enjoy trigger

The game was fun, and I made a lot of great friends in the community as a result, but the neglect from the devs and the overwhelming bias to keep Ruby top tier, the refusal to nerf her, and the latest DLC drop characters, particularly Yumi, remaining as stupidly stong as she was were huge turnoffs for me in the long run. I'll also never forgive Arcsys for nerfing Hazama because of 1 single tournament player/
As a Gordeau main, I have such a grudge on Ruby you have no idea. When the 2.0 patch came out. They nerfed Gordeau into oblivion but gave Ruby a slap on the wrist due to them having a broken combo when paired up together. I only started playing in early 2022 and I knew pretty quickly that I was going to main him. However, when I learned how nerfed he was. It just made me sad because I always seemed to pick the characters that always get nerf bombed or are low tier for some reason (Ike, Marth, and Lucario are mine from smash.)
Yet, no nerfs for Adachi, Hilda or Yumi (who new players pick up to just spam and win because they know they can) or no fixes to multiple characters movesets like Naoato (Persona) or Nine who can end matches early with a insta kill move which, I feel, defeats the whole purpose of astrals in general.
I still play the game though because I do love it that much. Learning combos is strangely addicting as someone who has only played smash brothers before. Plus, I'm a big Gordeau stan now 😂. I want to try undernight since it is on switch, but I fear the player base is just as low as BBTAG.
I tried jumping back in to BBTAG to coach a friend on fighting games and and it completely fucked me up how different it felt as opposed to Melty Blood Type Lumina
I recently got into this game because of Gamepass (and it is the only fighting game to date with RWBY characters, plus it also has Persona characters) and I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people were online. Almost always throughout the entire day there is an almost full casual lobby. Clearly a lot of new players came to the game like me. Glad to find another ArcSys game I can enjoy other than Guilty Gear (I get my ass kicked too much in that game. Not beginner friendly at all, but I still love it).

This may came as for shocked for some, But i've been waiting for this game for years to be officially Port on the Xbox Store, thankfully before that happen, Guilty Gear and other from Arc System has port to Xbox first, then days ago after realized One tweet within a Hashtag Xbox, I got jumped of excited and look it up that I found out that BBTAG has official been included but as btea that night, but a day after, I bought it with a Pass, and played the hell out of it. While the gameplay felt different than usual Blazblue, But i had a blast for it! But it is worth waiting for it for years!
Playing on xbox atm and the amount of people online is crazy, always 3-4 rooms in casual full. Not tried ranked yet

Seeing RWBY characters in this game makes me think a RWBY fighting game made by ArcSys would be the coolest thing! And RWBY has so many characters with crazy Weapons/Powers
Forgot this game existed. Had some good times with it even though I never bought it and only talked trash about it. Guess it did help Under Night get recognition, so big ups.
See, what they're doing is advertising with the first game so they can make BBTAG 2 with Guilty Gear, Persona 5, and Melty Blood characters added in
I played this game on PS4 for a couple of years and loved it but had to switch to Xbox bc PS5 is truly expensive where I live, so imagine my big smile when I heard BBTAG and GGS were coming to my current main console. Been playing the heck out of both games and ranked matches pop up in matter of seconds every night. The xbox community has a lot of players that love FG and it shows now with these recent releases and even old games such as DOA6, MKX and Tekken still have plenty of players online every day

But yeah, ASW doesn't seem to care about the game, if they ever did care. From the rushed development, to the lackluster support, to just how incomplete so much still feels...they've mishandled whatever potential this crossover could have had. It just remains as a joke for people to point and laugh at.
And really, it's not surprising. Ever since ASW got "Guilty Gear" back, that's basically been their main priority. Even back with "CF", there were notable downgrades or outright missing aspects coming from "CP". "BBTAG" had even more issues, to the point Mori got demoted afterwards. And after "Dark Wars", it crashed and burned so badly that Mori ended up leaving the company. The closest thing we have to a continuation is "Chaos Effect"...a rogue-like outsourced in China. ASW themselves have nothing to do with it besides granting the license. This has been a trend of them increasingly not caring.
I wouldn't be shocked if the only reason they even acknowledge the game is so that they can do the bare minimum with it. They can cheaply slap the game around on whatever for some extra sales.
Maybe they could make another crossover game but this time using characters from dragon ball, guilty gear and granblue. Might be something to think about

The saddest thing with BBTag for me personally is at the time of its announcement, I considered myself a big fan of RWBY so it was hype, but now I hate it because of its terrible writing and seeing the characters just fills me with sadness and disgust at such wasted potential. RWBY is absolutely not going strong, theres no hype for the series anymore. The only thing that keeps it alive today is cringe Twitter shippers, R34 coomers, and pure desperation from Rooster Teeth trying not to be sold off by Warner Media despite atrocious management.
This game is still one of the coolest things to ever exist. Who the hell would’ve expected a crossover between fucking RWBY, Persona, Blazblue, and Under night?? It’s just still so crazy to see Ruby Rose next to Yu Narukami…

One of the first games I did decent modding for, one of the first games I made custom palettes for, and my very first fighting game & Switch game period (in reverse order). Had I not been in a bit of a RWBY phase in HS coming in just for the prospect of playing as canon best girl (she literally said it herself) Weiss Schnee + having a passing knowledge of Persona to use it as a bouncing off point (Naoto in this game is so good and I kinda wish her VA here came back to redub her in the Steam re-release of P4G), I would've never picked this up or even gotten into MegaTen as a whole.
Glad I did, and Tag still holds a soft spot for me to this day. Long Live BBTAG!

I started playing bbtag after all the updates were completely done but man was it a blast to play woth friends on switch, but when i played bbtag again on xbox man the lobbies were much larger than i expected, heck the main lobby is commonly full (for now), I'm just glad i can play it again like it again in a much more alive state

As an xbox player this was so hype. Was super bummed years ago to find out it released on everything but an xbox. Bought it on the switch (that i barely play)
I'm so happy it's on Game Pass I used to play this back a lot on launch Nonstop I really hope we get a sequel in the future or maybe if we're lucky enough more dlc
My only gripe with the game was that it held back the craziness it could have had just to be appealing to a casual Audience.
Without going into a giant rant, to give an example of what I mean by holding back, take Ryu for example in both Street Fighter and the The vs Capcom series. In both games Ryu will always feel like ryu, but in the vs series, he feels more...."super" for a lack a better word. But he never feels "different". Comparing the characters in BBTAG to the OG games, they are quite literally different. The removed moves and normals and simplified them to all hell. And that was the part I hated about BBTAG.
But eventually I was able to look past that and enjoyed it. But I still will never forgive them for adding Jubei, Platinum and Celica but never added Bang Shishigami. That was an unforgivable crime.
a big turnoff for me in this game was the simplicity of the combos. I know it sounds annoying to hear someone say that but for me personally, i had played UNICLR before i played BBTAG. Practicing combos in UNICLR just felt so rewarding to finally get down. When i switched to the same characters in bbtag (i.e yuzu and seth), It was almost like a slap in the face for all the time i spent learning them in the other game lol. Again, this is just me personally, but the combo simplicity just made it feel not as rewarding to play.
I understand that turnoff. That also turned me off for similar reasons. Especially because I grew used to how Under Night does it, and I feel UN had an amazing combo system that was simple, but complex in all the right ways and was rewarding once it clicked. One of my UN mains is Vatista, who is infamous for her learning curve. So seeing how simplified she became in BBTAG felt offputting, and nowhere near as fun. Had similar reactions towards BB and P4A characters that I played as well with their BBTAG selves.

Yeah, Imma be honest, as someone who hasn’t taken the full plunge into fighting games and has only really put effort into Street Fighter IV, Smash Bros, P4 Arena, and hasn’t touched Soul Calibur since since 2, the *only* reason I’m still considering playing BBTAG still after all these years is RWBY. It’s the closest I could get to playing as the characters, even with other RWBY games having been made.
"Akatski can fight Hyde" might not had been the best examples sense Akatski as well as Eltum have been featured in almost every Under Night title..

Fr, I don't care about BBTAG. I just want a sequel to Undernight In Birth because I feel it deserves a second shot. Out of all the characters in BBTAG. I found the UNICL cast the most fun to play (and honestly? The most asteticly pleasing to look at) with some of the most unique designs in the game (just personal taste. The blazblue character designs are pretty cool too 😊)
I want to play UNICLR, but what sucks is if I tried to do it now. I'll only be fighting other players who have played the game since release, and that's not fun. I want to learn the game alongside everyone else, and I sadly missed out on that.
I know a sequel to UNICLR is unlikely to happen, but it would be cool since I have grown attached to a lot of them after BBTAG (Gordeau, Hyde, Markava, Yuzu, and strangely Carmine are all fun to play and listen too. They deserve to get more recognition along with the rest of the cast.)

Ive been in love with this game for the last couple of days ive been playing it, i have had no interaction at all with any of the franchises involved but damn ive enjoyed it, the lobbies(for game pass) are constantly at a 100-200 player population so its pretty easy to find matches.
I grew up in marvel vs capcom and nothing has scratched that itch I had like this, even inspired me to order an old Blazblue game on PS3 and to try P4 on game pass, perfect as a side game while I wait for SF6 and after.
From what I've heard about this game (No I haven't played it yet, not because I'm an XBone player) it seems like it's a decent game with a lot of missed potential (Not a whole bunch of modes, the character selection being kind of unbalanced with the different fates, (Like not a lot of RWBY characters but BlazBlue taking up most of the roster) and the simpler control scheme without a more technical option) and it definitely seems like more updates could solve this problem, if they would take some time to give updates for some solutions to the problems I just listed it, probably would ended better than it did.
It does have a lot of problems that probably could of been fixed with an extra update or two, but for what it is I enjoy coming back every so often to play.

@@captainmega6310 Well I was talking about the fact that series such as Arcana Heart and Akasuki Blitskamf (I definitely didn't spell that right) might as well not even be there because of how much one series is represented, the MVC series keeps the roster balanced because you get an equal amount of Marvel and Capcom, and to keep one series from being overrepresented and not have one steal the show, I understand what you're saying but when you're making a crossover you have to keep some sort of balance between the stuff you're crossing over.

I remember hearing something, and bear in mind this is all speculation on my part.
ArcSys does not want Guilty gear and Blazblue throughout the same lifespan. Most likely because, people will pick and choose which game they would prefer between the two, and is therefore a net loss in terms of sales for double the work. The theory is that Arcsys wants to wait until Strive becomes irrelevant to start pushing towards a new Blazblue game. If this is true, this could explain their pushes more towards tag, rather than a push towards a new game.
Arcsys in an interview said BlazBlue isn't dead.
They said they wanted to focus on guilty gear for now because releasing a new title of one of their big hitters while another is correctly being supported and pushed will kill the activity of one of each or worse both.
Also keep in mind all the other fighters that were released recently that have arcsys name on it are titles they don't own. Just hired to work on
Playing on xbox, didn't play when it first came out. Love this game. Getting all the action I can before the population drops in 6 months.
Even after finishing single player I still love BBCTB as I love fighting games with the retro type art style like jojo's bizarre adventure heritage for the future or guilty gear just to name a couple but blazblue cross tag battle took the art style that I loved and added some of the most satisfying combat I've ever had the pleasure of playing and also included air combos which I love. BBCTB has some flaws but is and forever will be my favourite fighting game
The physical version of Special Edition is only available in Japan, and I found out that the DLC content is via download code. My question is, does a Japanese download code work on a non-Japanese account? (I’m on Switch, btw).

Honestly, it wasn't really anything I had against mechanics. The netcode was horrid at the time I played at launch.
