until now, I only knew him as one of Nashivells top fiddle player, playing sessions and gigging with the Nashville Bluegrass Band. Little did I know that he is actally a great utility player too🤯
Bravo! Saw them Saturday night in Chattanooga and it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. The musicianship of the entire band is superlative. The vocal harmonies of Alison and Robert are otherworldly.
It is truly humbling to see the effort and attention that these master musicians put into every aspect of their craft. From their instruments to their effects, amps and even cables they are chasing excellence and inspiration every step of the way. Of course their playing is both impeccable, but at the same time sometimes risky and even experimental. The results speak for themselves. The Plant/Krauss collaboration, including the outstanding musicians supporting it, is one of the high points of the modern era.
Such an enjoyable rig rundown “ sparkles like a diamond in a goats ass….oh yeah “ is a quote I’ve never heard before but will use it at every opportunity 😂😂😂😂
I LOVE IT!!! A smorgasbord of tone...all the stringed instruments and effect pedals. Robert Plant my all time favorite singer is why I had to check out this episode!!!
This was probably the best of these rundowns I've seen. You couldn't have collected a better group of talented, interesting musicians! I'll keep an eye out and see if I can catch this tour!
Stuart has been my favorite ever since I required him to play Lee Highway blues for me multiple times in a fiddle lesson. Id like to think he put it on his first album because of that 14 yr old panhandle Texas kid. I still have the cassette recording of it. My treasure!
They never discussed (maybe they don’t know) the secret of the Galanti Grand Prix guitars. They have a pickup signal reducer (when they were made it was marketed as a jazz guitar so the output was too hot on the pickups) that must be bypassed to unlock the True Tone of the guitar. It screams and has a growl like no other guitar. I bypassed on my guitar and have shown everyone else who has one and all swear by the mod.
Mixed feelings when I look at my kickass pedalboard, and then Stuarts 'bare bones' board... and realise that I play to myself in a room, and he plays with the lead singer of Led Zeppelin to a crowd each night... Viktor's SG's look awesome too
No Load tone pots on 10(tone knob all the way up) gives you the "pure"tone/sound of the pickups and still have the option to use the tone knob instead of bypassing it.
yes, on paper absolutely. I tried this on a esquire partso I built a few years ago just for laughs and could hear the smallest treble smoothing (I use LOTS of treble, all the treble) off the top end with everything on 10 compared to the no tone selected. Definitely less loss than a loaded pot
I really enjoy watching these Rig Rundown videos. One thing I would really like to see is list of the equipment used by the different artists, and perhaps a photograph of the pedal boards discussed so people interested can understand the pedals used and the layout.
Stuart getting Jamie Foxx to sign the back of his 1930's Mandolin cause he had nothing else for him to autograph is giving me serious Step Brothers-vibes haha.
FYI, Indyguitarist is Brian Wampler before he started Wampler Pedals, when he was an active participant in DIY forums and sold collections of pedal mods.
I have played both of Viktor's RA-200s (the sawed off and the full). The full size was so loud, my ears were hurting for two days. But those sound so fantastic in person, it's hard to capture that 3d sound in a recording.
Alison is my favorite fiddle player of all time. It's a shame she isn't playing much these days. Maybe she'll reunite with Union Station after the RPAK tour.
Love how the focus is on getting the tones and not branding and gear. Get so sick and tired of seeing the same shyt every week. “Oh here’s my pedalboard of strymon pedals, boutique version of a fender amp and a tele” or “here’s my axe effects with my custom 5150 patch and a random two humbucker guitar”. These guys are great. Especially Stuart, “hey I found a squier with a nice neck pickup and hey who gives a shit it’s a squier so I’ll hack it up so itll do what I want.” He’s playing with Robert Plant and takes out a butchered squier and some garage sale acoustic instruments 😂
wondering how JD's Boss FDR-1 function in the very front of the signal chain, I assumed it is a amp-in-a-box pedal and always put in the last of my chain
When the last guitarist said "I don't know what elephant I saved in a past life to get the support slot", what he meant to say was "I don't know what Masonic Lodge I attended to get this gig..."
Why does Bollinger always lie about never seeing some pedals before when he's either demo the pedal himself or seen it on other rig rundowns is he just really stoned
Oh boy. So, it is implied that ticket buyers are now a "good taste" group of purists as opposed to what previously defined a quality rock concert. Loud audience applause : "Great rig! Outstanding tone!" Cheeses.
Why so sour? I saw them last night and there was both great great tones and loud applause. It’s not an either/or. Besides, this is a show on a channel that’s all about the gear that musicians are using. It feels a little like you’re rolling your eyes at the sky for being blue.
JD!! And TK!! The Rocket Smith is soooo very bitchin' yes it is! And, think playing out at gigs with it ain't so bad ..... AND, love the 'Luck of the OKrish' tape id .. go Okeys!!
Whenever I get sad about some of my favorite musicians being dead I think about Robert Plant singing with Alison Krauss and I think I'm reminded sometime it might be better to lose legends before this happens
He’s an artist chasing his muse. You can’t expect him to want to just play the hits and he’s going 75, let him do what he wants with the time he has left. I think a lot of it is quite interesting and good music.

The musicianship of these guys is inspiring and scary at the same time. Next level players.
Yep! Every note picked with care.
@@roughcutguitars that I love!!! I’m learning to think more and more like that.
Stuart Duncan seems the perfect bandmate/sideman. Immensely affable and extremely skillful.
i had no idea he even played guitar! he's a bitchin fiddle player
until now, I only knew him as one of Nashivells top fiddle player, playing sessions and gigging with the Nashville Bluegrass Band. Little did I know that he is actally a great utility player too🤯
Out of the gates with a Squire, already love this man. Very humble guys, Excellent musicians.
Pretty sure John Bohlinger has the best job in the world and his smiles while watching these guys says it all.
Dude, I’m seeing them TONIGHT! Nice timing.
My all-time favorite fiddle player
Bravo! Saw them Saturday night in Chattanooga and it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. The musicianship of the entire band is superlative. The vocal harmonies of Alison and Robert are otherworldly.
This was one the best rundowns in a good while. Players that WANT to talk about their gear. Great stuff
It is truly humbling to see the effort and attention that these master musicians put into every aspect of their craft. Great to see these road/studio warriors non glamor gear that just works! If it works it works.
Such an enjoyable rig rundown “ sparkles like a diamond in a goats ass….oh yeah “ is a quote I’ve never heard before but will use it at every opportunity 😂😂😂😂
Great Rig Rundown.
Good to see people living dangerously and using real amps.
I LOVE IT!!! A smorgasbord of tone...all the stringed instruments and effect pedals. Robert Plant my all time favorite singer is why I had to check out this episode!!!
Stuart Duncan is such a talented guy. Mark Knopfler had great things to say about him.
That fiddle sounds awesome!
This was probably the best of these rundowns I've seen. You couldn't have collected a better group of talented, interesting musicians! I'll keep an eye out and see if I can catch this tour!
What 💥 PG Best in long Time . He could play Violin for Kansas . Best Lesley Ever !
I could listen to this clip over and over again. Magical
Love the long neck Banjo, it has sustain and sounds half way to a guitar, very cool....
That was so awesome! Love love love gear!!! Thank you so much!❤
This is gold. Just loving it.
Wow. amazing tone on guitar and fiddle and mando- mind blown long neck banjo .geez. great playing.great musicians. still watching. love this episode
John s rig rundowns are the coolest funniest ones
Stuart has been my favorite ever since I required him to play Lee Highway blues for me multiple times in a fiddle lesson. Id like to think he put it on his first album because of that 14 yr old panhandle Texas kid. I still have the cassette recording of it. My treasure!
That was so enjoyable ! 😎🎶

It warms my soul to know it takes 3 monster players to cover Buddy Miller and Darrell Scott.
Great Rundown!!!!
Wow looks like its also my first time seeing the Microcosm in a Rig Rundown musician feature.
And then JD is an awesome vocalist as well!!!
Indyguitarist is Wampler. Thats a prototype for his Ecstasy pedal.
How good was that !! OMG talent and humility = Excellence
Best rig Rundown for sounds....!!!!!
Mixed feelings when I look at my kickass pedalboard, and then Stuarts 'bare bones' board... and realise that I play to myself in a room, and he plays with the lead singer of Led Zeppelin to a crowd each night... Viktor's SG's look awesome too
Wowza! Fun rundown guys!
AWESOME, I WANT A HOODOO 😅😅😃😃😃😂😂😆👍👍
I found JD a while back and his sound fits Robert and Alison perfectly.
🔥 Rundown. Top shelf musicians
What a great video! Once of my faves since the last Jason Isbell episode!
Stuart's such a class player and I love his taste in instruments, but I spent his entire part hoping against hope to hear that Yamaha rotary :-)
The stereo at 36.22 from the Yamaha is very cool indeed
No Load tone pots on 10(tone knob all the way up) gives you the "pure"tone/sound of the pickups and still have the option to use the tone knob instead of bypassing it.

Wow!! That’s my old Danelectro Backtalk delay on Viktor Krauss’s pedalboard!!! Day made.. 😅
Wow!!! His rig is incredible
Caught y'alls show last Friday and was mesmerized by that RA-200. Had never seen anything like it before. Holy crap that's a trip with headphones on.
Oooof. My heart hurts a bit. In 1994 my first guitar was a Galanti Grand Prix I bought for $60. Gave it to a friend. Regret is real.
I really enjoy watching these Rig Rundown videos. One thing I would really like to see is list of the equipment used by the different artists, and perhaps a photograph of the pedal boards discussed so people interested can understand the pedals used and the layout.

Whaow, whaow, whaow!!!
That squier Tele sounds completely amazing through that amp. Would love to know more about what pickups are in it!
Wow, I know Stuart Duncan as one of the best fiddlers on the planet. What a depth of knowledge. Plant and Krauss are lucky to have him
Stuart is particularly amazing, especially across all of those instruments!
Stuart getting Jamie Foxx to sign the back of his 1930's Mandolin cause he had nothing else for him to autograph is giving me serious Step Brothers-vibes haha.
I actually run Thomastik Infeld flats on my doomy guitar. They are fantastic.
The TK'd Vintera Tele is my favorite tone monster of all the amazing guitars in this rundown.
Wow!!
FYI, Indyguitarist is Brian Wampler before he started Wampler Pedals, when he was an active participant in DIY forums and sold collections of pedal mods.
❤❤
Cool band with great sounds. I love everything they do.
More Electric Long Neck Banjo!
Wow!
Cool!
I have played both of Viktor's RA-200s (the sawed off and the full). The full size was so loud, my ears were hurting for two days. But those sound so fantastic in person, it's hard to capture that 3d sound in a recording.
Big fan of Alison Krauss so this is a cool insert to her live sound with Robert Plant touring band
Awesome find 😊
Stuart Duncan sounds exactly like Tim Conway. Its like Dorf on Guitar.
Distorted violin 🎻 💪🤟 legend
Stuart can make my dremel tool sound friggin' melodic. 🤦🎼🎶
Alison is my favorite fiddle player of all time. It's a shame she isn't playing much these days. Maybe she'll reunite with Union Station after the RPAK tour.

As an RA200 owner I can say they sound amazing but are very very heavy. Too heavy to use (without getting chopped).
The fact that John has never seen a Microcosm makes me think he doesn’t use RUclips 😅
and like often: where is the bass player?
What date will you be releasing the Whitechapel rundown? Excited for this one, thanks!
Late June.
wondering how JD's Boss FDR-1 function in the very front of the signal chain, I assumed it is a amp-in-a-box pedal and always put in the last of my chain
I take it back
Can anyone tell what brand of bender is on that tele? Thought I'd seen them all
Is there a link to the string butler he uses on the sg
couldn't put the man's name in title?
When the last guitarist said "I don't know what elephant I saved in a past life to get the support slot", what he meant to say was "I don't know what Masonic Lodge I attended to get this gig..."
?
@@blueishxx Time to do some some research man. Try "X-Factor Winner Reveals World's Secret Religion".
First!
Again the weird laughter. What’s up with that laughing 🤷♀️
Why does Bollinger always lie about never seeing some pedals before when he's either demo the pedal himself or seen it on other rig rundowns is he just really stoned

Does it drive anyone rlse crazy when people call "tremolo" "vibrato??"
He's running a Carl Martin Trem O Vibe, so it's actually both
No
JD!! And TK!! The Rocket Smith is soooo very bitchin' yes it is! And, think playing out at gigs with it ain't so bad ..... AND, love the 'Luck of the OKrish' tape id .. go Okeys!!
As usual John you don’t ask all the questions ! Strings ,picks, or the speakers in the Amps !
Too busy Laughing !
One question, whats plants body count ?
Whenever I get sad about some of my favorite musicians being dead I think about Robert Plant singing with Alison Krauss and I think I'm reminded sometime it might be better to lose legends before this happens
What’s that supposed to mean? 🤔
Dumb@ss alert!
He’s an artist chasing his muse.
