Kirk Cameron Takes on Scholastic Book Fairs

- For years Kirk Cameron has made public libraries a focal point in his effort to make wholesome content available to kids. The actor and producer is now entering a new arena by competing against Scholastic Book Fairs which is the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books.
He is partnering with Sky Tree Book Fairs, a nonprofit group that aims to equip children with books that promote positive values and lifestyles all while respecting parents and guardians as the ultimate authority to determine what their child reads.
"We see that there is such an avalanche of filth and material that's twisting the minds of children about the most basic things of reality and families, gender, faith, what is America," Cameron said in an interview with CBN News.

I loved Scholastic book fairs back in grade school. It was like Christmas day when the books we ordered finally arrived.

I like. Thank you for doing this Mr. Kirk, and God bless you all. PS Growing Pains was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I also liked He-Man and Dukes of Hazzard. I was very young, but I liked the simplicity of the good guy winning over the bad guy, and a good pretty easy to follow story. Now I can see Spiritual meaning in that too. God bless & agape. Love Kirk. Although we do need to include education about racism and race- but with honesty. Because it is real, and unfortunately a stain on our country’s history (and yes, the world as well). Not with marxist ideologies like CRT, but with the reality & sinfulness of it.
I just don’t know that racism is all it’s cracked up to be. There are clear differences between races we can see today. Black people disproportionately commit crimes compared to whites. In my opinion there are clear racial differences that we can’t ignore.

Kirk Cameron came to our local library a few months ago and read one of his books to my son who’s in elementary school. Now he says he identifies as a “furry” because of it and I don’t know what to do. Was this supposed to happen? I’m freaking out right now and I think other parents need to take more caution so this doesn’t happen to their child.

I loved Scholastic Book fairs when I was a child. The books and posters ! I found my first Black History children's book there. But in the last few years I have taken a true dislike to some of the content they're putting out now. I picked up a Scholastic book at our local library, browsed through it and was truly disturbed. Now, I have to be careful when I see the Scholastic lable. This sounds like a wonderful option. We don't live in a perfect world, it's always been full of sin, but we need to do everything we can to create a safe place for children to grow and flourish.
I thank God for Kirk Cameron and all that he is doing for Jesus and the body of Christ!

There's a gigantic scholastic warehouse near me our schools have those book fairs a couple of times a year during teacher conferences when a lot of parents are there and they make a lot of money
As a public school teacher, I see firsthand what Scholastic does. My school just set ups our Scholastic fair this week, and so many of the books are just creepy. There were books with zombies, dolls with missing body parts, gore, all sorts of gross/creepy content. And that's not to even mention the woke content. Scholastic has gone downhill over the years. Like everything else, we have to be very weary of it and what they are pushing now.
I just saw a book at Barnes and Noble about a "trans and queer" summer camp. In the book one of the character's "preferred pronouns" was eir/eirs.😩🤦🏼♀️

Leigh-Allyn Baker saw first hand when disney was trying to bring in same gender parents when she had to play in an episode of Good Luck Charlie with the introduction of two moms and their tomboy looking daughter. I'm glad she's out of there and Bridgett Mendler who's a Christian and Bridgett's Christian ex BF too. We need to protect our children! 😢❤

I do a lot of reading, including books from middle age/youth level. Many books that have a good plot end up ruined by liberal ideology. It seems that to have your book published anymore you must have an LGBTQ+ character in it, especially if published by Disney.

I read all those books when I was kid. Loved them. Clifford the Big Red Dog, James and the Giant Peach, Nancy Drew etc. What is wrong with these books. I don't think other books should be made available yet. I quote the word yet. If I had children, I would wait until they are much older to discuss other subjects. Not in elementary school. Let them get through puberty and hormones and all of that before doing something that they may regret in the future. Their bodies need to stabilize first. I am not burying my head in the sand. If you are homosexual, you are homosexual. I won't judge you on anything. it's not my place. I just want people to wait before rushing in. I want people to be safe and be at peace with all the decisions that they make. Some people may not agree with it. Too each his own.
They just had the book fair at my job (a middle school). There were so many sexual books there. I was ashamed to see it.
My heart aches for the kids who are not going to know the joys of going to the scholastic book fair!

Very sad 😞 to hear about what has happened to school book fairs. I have so many happy memories of going to them.
This is a beautiful conversation. I just tried to speak about the Truth of the Word to a Catholic last night and failed miserably. Meaning I got intense in the conversation as he made a case for works. Then my sister got upset with me. Big crash and burn. Please say a prayer that I get a chance to redo the conversation and the words today.
This showed a beautiful conversation indeed! Jesus is the bridge we must meet at to hold these conversations. I pray that your conversations with your friend are Christ centered and the Holy Spirit speaks through the both of you. As Ephesians 6 says, we are in a battle between Good and Evil. We need to unite as Christians under the banner of Good and not get caught up in the enemy's traps of division. God be with you and we will lift you up in prayer.
Here's the thing, God can use us even when we make mistakes. Let it go. Keep filling yourself with God's Word in the Bible. The Holy Spirit lives inside us to guide us. Next time pray for the Holy Spirit's guidance for who to talk to and how to say it. We are soldiers in God's army. God will lead us if we ask Him. We must stay in the center of His will which we do by being saturated in His Word. We are saved by grace and can't earn salvation but good works are important because we are God's ambassadors to a lost and perishing world. Our good works don't save us but when we are saved we want to do good works because it is Christ who lives within us and we must die to self, taking up our cross. I suggest you apologize to your friend humbly and explain you got too heated. Our most powerful witness for Christ aren't our words but are our actions. 🙏
Yep. Quit ordering from Scholastic book fairs years ago. Captain Underpants and Goosebumps was not something i was willing to expose my children to. These people have had an agenda for years.
We need quality literature for kids, all this none sense comics are so deluded and empty of enrichment, I like the classics, they’re filled with lessons of real life, what happened? !

Say no to book fair books at schools!Last week my 6 year old grandson got to go on his first book fair at school and came home with 1 15.00 book and 1 book mark for 20.00 what is worse is the book that was available and he picked is a book about stuffed animals featured in the horror movie”five nights at Freddie’s “.😡😡
Ugh 😑 my goodness). Very different school fair I went from My grade school & Middle School through Christian school part time cause I was homeschooled they let homeschooled students be part of it. I had ten years of it. Really makes me sad 😞 hearing what they have become.
