Awesome! There is a lot to be said for living within your means. Case/IH makes some dream equipment but are financially out of reach for so many. The Bud's may not be the newest technology, however by keeping that old iron paid for and not going in debt, you built houses that I rather suspect were paid for before you moved in, has given your families the ability to weather (pun intended) the tough years. Keep it up!

The kta 19 is a brilliant engine for its age. They are still current product and available. Built out of the cummins seymour indiana plant. Granted they were superseded by the QSK 19, however they are still very popular in the marine market. Still see some in drills here in australia but getting less and less. Some markets like africa still build new drills rigs with kta19 just because of their simplicity, durability and the ability to run some pretty ordinary fuel. Noticed this is a very old 2 piece timing cover which were obsoleted long ago. Also has the large oil cooler for the torque converter cooling.
I remember the last brand new kenworth c501 that came into our shop in the late 90s with a kta19 before emissions regs prevented them being installed. Awesome truck

We have new trucks: 2016, 2019, 2021 and 2023s pick one and its been in for repairs more than the 2006 or the 2000 trucks with the 2000 pushing almost a million miles. 24 years 980,000 miles and it just recently needed a head gasket and a radiator. The 2016 has had four ECUs and a complete DEF system replacement in the last three years. You are money ahead just keeping the old stuff running than fighting with warranties on the new junk.

Especially without rebuilding everything else your lucky if a vehicle lasts you everything all original your very lucky
    Usually with SUVs or pickups
Transmission may make it over 200
    Same with rear end
Usually the transmission will end up going on you.
Proper maintaining, depending on how you operate it, it will last hopefully all original

We alway pack our new oil pumps with Vaseline, it’s thick enough to create suction to prime the oil pump but thin enough to melt into the oil when the engine gets up to temp, also because it’s petroleum jelly it doesn’t do any damage and mixes with the oil, so no oil change is required.

There is no cheap way to run a business that uses equipment. You have two options, you are either making payments on a new/newer machines or doing repairs on older ones. Either way you are always spending money and time on maintenance and the more hours you put on them the more often you have to maintain them, it's just the nature of equipment.
You can't look at it as a single cost, you have to break it down over the hours/years of use you have gotten from the part. 😊

Might be time to look at a newer cummins for the big buds so you can find parts easier. It's nice to keep old stuff going, but sooner or later you need to upgrade or you spend more time and money looking for things

I usually put a little STP oil treatment in the oil pump before assembling it into the engine. That way it helps it fill the gaps to prime.

the stories we hear about the new machines, sensors, computers, parts, right to repair issues with access to the computer programming etc, I think you are making the right decision, I can't wait to see some of these "new" tractors hit the market and see what they are going to get for them. Be careful, they could break you if you buy one

Thanks for the video guys & well done to all of the people who donated to feed the hungry.
I'm in a bad place right now, and my wife has taken absolutely EVERYTHING. I'm in the unfortunate position to have to use these sorts of services & wish to say a huge THANK YOU to the INCREDIBLE PEOPLE WHO VOLUNTEER to help those in need.
At 10:20 what is that going into the timing case?
    DOES ANYBODY ELSE KNOW PLEASE????????????????????

Yes nick your are right , better spend money on older big bud , good honest tractor , built strong to last , simple and eazy to work on , no computers or sencors that cost heaps of dollars , to change or fix . better than spending $ 700.000 on a new one . I used to drive the steigers panther 325 , their another good honest strong tractor , built to last , just a simple tractor , easy to work on . No computers or sencors . Good work brian , leg arm , nick and you father on getting the cumming 1150 fixed and running . Ps happy birthday brian .

So, your not going to mention the factory fresh reman engine and trans in the background throughout this video? couldn't really tell if it was an old cat engine or the engine out of the deer loader. I believe after you paint it you consider it factory rebuilt right. 😁
