Sonic was planned to be a playable character in the Multiplayer mode, but the creators didn't want their beloved Sonic The Hedgehog holding a gun and whatnot, thus Sonic's line in Westopolis "I wouldn't be caught dead using one of those things!".
I hope they make a sequel that is edgy but more kid friendly (Shadow can have a gun just no blood or other affects to keep it at a rate parents can agree with easier) along with the battle mode having different Sonic characters instead of multiple of the same character.
