Jimmie, I doubt you're reading this, but in the slight chance that you are, thank you. Thank you for making my childhood and teenage years amazing. I love re watching this race. it has so much meaning to me. I was holding my baby boy for the first time in the hospital room while watching this happen. It will always be a remembered moment of my life.
Watching this over 5 years later still causes me to shed tears. It was hard enough on that day, but his retirement in the following January made it that much harder, knowing that this was it for my favorite driver. Damn, what a class act he was... There won't ever be a driver like him. Even though I've been to a handful of races in the last couple of years, my love for NASCAR has never been as high as 2016. Quite a bit of it died once he stepped away. After 2017 passed, I did gain quite a bit back, but it just won't ever be as high. I really couldn't tell you much about 2017. 2016 was a good year overall, I loved the High Horsepower and Low Downforce. It really made the drivers work. I think NASCAR's decision to reverse that for 2017 played a role in Edwards' departure. He was very vocal about his love for Low Downforce to put it into the drivers' hands. I hope he's enjoying life with his family though, because that's what actually matters. He left healthy and with enough money to live a happy life without being in the public eye. Much Respect to him!!!

Reason why Carl quit is. The inside a scoop is that it was a bogus caution for just a blown tire so everyone can pit for fresh tires, and last laps shootout drama, to wrap up the season. He had the title if no caution thrown
One of the most emotional races I’ve ever seen. On one hand I wanted Carl to win the championship then on the other hand I wanted Jimmie to win his 7th.
Eddy: [screams in frustration.] Edd/Double D: “Well, are you happy that Jimmie won the championship, Eddy?” Eddy: “No… I wanted Danica Patrick to win the championship, not Jimmie Johnson!!” [He throws the pit crew headset right into the ground, and screams angrily.] “AARGH!!!!” Ed: “Well, Jimmie Johnson won…..” [As Eddy is throwing a temper tantrum, screaming and kicking like a little kid, Ed cries.] Edd: “Cheer up, you two… Sometimes, we win, and sometimes, we lose…”
what made this even more remarkable is Jimmie did a legit and successful Last-to-1st challenge to win the 7th

I LOVE NASCAR
Also to note
Jimmie Johnson/Chad Knaus went on to the championship for a seventh time as Kyle Larson was runner up to him that night in the 42 car at CGR as who was Johnsons race engineer for the title in ‘16? Answer Cliff Daniels who’s Larson’s defending champion crew chief presently.
Last race for the sponsor sprint for the series
Last race for the name sprit cup series
Last race from the “Chase” Grid

Last race for Carl,
Last race for Tony

Last Race for the Old NASCAR Logo
Last race of the Jimmie Dynasty
No the last race off the Jimmie dynasty was the pocono race in 2017 were Jimmie hit the wall crazy hard
And Brian Scott and Casey mears
Baby Strawberries well yes but no bc yea after that Jimmie pretty much did nothing he had like what 1 top 5 after that Race for the season but I’m talking like dominating and leading laps all the time getting Constant top 5s and 10s after he won his 7th everything just kinda went down hill 3 wins in the last 3 1/2 seasons top 5s or very low top 10s r still kinda low it’s just not himself anymore
Baby Strawberries I thought Casey ran a couple races last year in the 27
Green Grass there was a 27 car in 2019
No one realized just how close Carl came to flipping over
I did.

Who's here after Rolex 34 at Daytona 2021, Jimmie got p3 great!
Eddy: [screams in frustration.]
Edd/Double D: “Well, are you happy that Jimmie won the championship, Eddy?”
Eddy: “No… I wanted Danica Patrick to win the championship, not Jimmie Johnson!!” [He throws the pit crew headset right into the ground, and screams angrily.] “AARGH!!!!”
Ed: “Well, Jimmie Johnson won…..” [As Eddy is throwing a temper tantrum, screaming and kicking like a little kid, Ed cries.]
Edd: “Cheer up, you two… Sometimes, we win, and sometimes, we lose…”
