still in the car probably. I was saw one of these in person when my dad worked for SSI. They shredded an entire MG, engine and all.
It was screaming for mercy at 1:31!!! The machine had a hard time chewing up the k-member at the end.
I think I have reached the pinnacle point of awesome shredding youtube clips. I started on trolleys then engine blocks but I do not think there could be anything cooler then a whole car being shredded........ well I will soon see :)

A perfectly good item would be a 1969 Dodge Daytona--and I would've shed tears if they shredded something like that. That 1985 Daytona should have been shredded as soon as it came off the assembly line.
I really thought it might have trouble with the rims and rear diff, what a machine.

those daytonas are actually pretty cool little cars
My first car was a bright red '88 Daytona and I was actually quite fond of it, despite the fact that it fell apart at 80K. I get all sentimental when I see Daytonas now.

I had an '88 Daytona Pacifica when I was 16. At the time it was my "dream car" even with all the money I had to dump in it. I get the same way when I see them. I think, "I wish mine hadn't been BROKE DOWN 95% of the time I owned it" lol
I'm thinking how sweet this would be in "The Brave Little Toaster". Watch the cars sing about all their life experiences as they're being slowly ripped apart.

That may be the plot but I doubt it is how it really happened. Its amazing what a little editing in a video can do.
I owned a 1987 Dodge Daytona, so it does my heart good to see this one destroyed. It was a piece of shit, from its solid rear axle to its oil pan that cracked open very easily.
too true.. i'm trying to keep my '93 as long as possible.. in a couple of more years i can get classic plates

@wildbloodydragon wrong! You use eddy currents to separate out the different metals, and other non-metallic particals are easily separated by density.
When I read the title, I thought you guys were going to shred a Daytona from the 70s. I was scared that I would see a '73 Daytona and it's beautiful oversized spoiler get crushed. When I saw that it was an '85....I felt better.

No I'm thinking of the 4cyl 2.6l Mitsubishi turbo that came in them.
Kinda like the 2.6L mitsubishi pick up I had except this one has a turbo. the G54b if I remember right.

The car didn't go down without a fight! It actually got the upper hand and jammed the shredder several times in the beginning; and that was WITHOUT the engine in!

I can totally see something like this being at a state fair. Have a staircase leading up to a walkway where people can pay to stand on a high platform so they can watch stuff get shredded.

I want to see an SSI Pri-Max industrial shredder shred another SSI Pri-Max industrial shredder.
I read up on the environmental impact of hybrid vehicles, and apparently you're at least partly right. Interesting stuff. The consensus does seem to be that their impact is still somewhat smaller than a completely fossil fuel -based car's, though.

when I saw the vido title I though you guys were shredding a 1969 Daytona Charger. I was relieved to find out that it was a shitpile instead when the video loaded.

no dude I didnt mean anything by that I was just saying that they were pretty cool little cars... i salvage 5-6 cars per year so I definitely understand that sad as it is most cars are worth more as parts and scrap than they are whole... oh and I gotta admit it was pretty cool to see that thing getting chewed up... best I can do is smush them with my tractor, i do have some videos up of that might check it out if you get a chance

My friend did the same thing to a Daytona 12 years ago and all he needed was some alcohol and a pole.

ya the 2.5 is the earlier version of the 4g54 and they are mitsubishi look it up.
Its been about 3 years since I messed with those engines but they are Mitsu all the way.
