What a beautiful day you’re having. Looked like our days here in Oregon…until Friday when we got 3/4 of an inch in a 24 hour period. Now it’s just dreary and over cast. No rain today.
12:31 I love these kind of videos I’d like to do these all the time. 😂 I remember when I was a newbie plant owner and saw your Koppert hanging on all your plants I asked you what it was LOL! 😆
@@wildfernHave been watching since you were working as a nurse, so several years now. I thought I had a black thumb so never had plants but now I do and have learned a lot about how to care for them from your videos. So thank you for filming your plants and your care videos. You are so easy to watch no matter what you are doing.
Never saw such a chaotic video of you. Had to lough a lot about the Hoya part. But I I felt very well entertained. Thank you for your content. Always enjoy your videos. 🍀
You are so cute! I love watching you! Fern smiling and looking forward to a valentine gift and sucking on a pink lollipop! Made me happy inside. It really is the little things in life..... :-)
Don't worry about the Phal. I think I see some growth down against the bark. Spray it down with warm water and let it drain out, keep warm and with light. Even if you lose the top leaves, the bottom growths will come up. They usually turn brown and die or mush ----- if you are going to lose the leaves. I love Phals in water. Most of my phals were totally in water and thrived. They always surprise me.
1:05:15 what you’ve done here is what I do. I wait for the vines to get long enough that the end will be pointing back up again before wrapping it. So far my Hoyas have been fine. I loved the frankenstein’s grafted trellis situation. 😂 not a bad idea if you don’t want to chop and prop.
Well Fern! Absolutely the epic relaxed chatty content. So easy to watch and super personable. Repot and chat are my favourite content. Thank you hun for a super friendly long video. You calmed my soul today. Huge love to Canada from the UK ❤🌱❤️
The bronze maiden is a hybrid of two very different phalaenopsis (mannii and schilleriana) so if it isn't cloned it can look incredibly varied. Especially since the parent plants are natural species with natural variation. I have a bronze maiden with the same sort of silver leaves as yours, and it is very easy to grow and bloom! However, I also have one grown from seed that had green spotted leaves and green-isch flowers! But that one is more finicky. My guess is that yours is grown from seed if they dont know the color of the flowers. Soo exiting!
Thanks for this video 💚 Also, I think I’ve heard that hoyas have no problem being looped around, it’s just the tip of the vine that has to be pointing upwards. Love the look of the small leaf Hoyas on circle trellises!
The thing with beneficials… The more good bugs you release, the more bad bugs they will eat.. Its nice that you have a new batch coming in 2 weeks later, thats the other thing… never be without god bugs until the bad bugs are gone Its complicated and expensive…. But still lower maintenance than using sprays 😅 Im with you on the downsizing… Once a bunch have left the house… its hard for a while to pick more plants to rehome Though sometimes I look at a plant and think “do I still love/need this?” And sometimes the answer is “no”. Reorganizing/redecorating crowded spaces can help… - take everything out - start by putting the most loved plants back - add some that complement them well until it looks nice Whatever is left is not “needed” 😉 We did this with an entire room…. And the question went from “do I love/want this” to “is this needed to make the room look good/cozy” Sometimes it helps to change the perspective (if downsizing is really really needed) Im quite on top of my plant care.. But I do recognize the indecisiveness, wanting to do it right in one go and then overthinking it. After an idea pops in my head it can take a month or sometimes even longer to actually start executing Hoya fitchii is such a lovely Hoya, easy to grow, easy to bloom, relatively easy to trellis, lush growth pattern 🩷 Like you, I am also usually a bit at a loss with what to do with the long vines on Hoyas, I like to let them grow out the leaves first, but sometimes the vine just gets unruly long…. Then I try to loop it differently, so that the last grown leaves point down and the bare vine still points up… sometimes that works but still leaves part of the unruly vine, sometimes I try to have it point up in “s-shapes” On tower/fence trellises its a bit easier, but often they don’t look as nice…. Some Hoyas don’t like them….. And the whole thing needs to be redone once a Hoya reaches the top Maybe we should just put some trees in our houses for the Hoyas to climb onto 😂 Great decision to change the mint coin to the circle!
Waking up to this video 🤌🏻☕️ Thank you! Also I feel your pain with the trellising! I have been needing a tutorial as my vines are out of control, and some of them [villosa, kerrii] the vines are too thick to bend so like - do I just keep growing them vertical forever like a tree?! 😂 No one talks about this. WHAT IS THE PROTOCOL?!
I don’t think I have ever seen you go to a ‘big box store’, so when you went to Rona and I saw the plants it dawned on me. Of course you may have, but I don’t remember seeing it. 😂 Not that it matters most of the time I don’t watch those unless it’s not Lowe’s, Home Depot. 😉
I’ve started to down size some plants. I e found 8 that I can get rid of. Most into the garbage. Since I have mealies popping up here and there, I don’t want to pass them on to someone else.
I love seeing this sometimes silly, rambly side of you on your main channel. I really enjoy it on your vlog channel. Maybe they’re kind of blending into each other?
Fern I NEED help with flatmites on my Hoya.. I am using safers.. I have tried sulphur.. it’s just so frustrating.. Put your To-do’s on a list and just tackle one at a time. My plants obsession started with phals.. Right now I have 5 with flower spikes but I am on the hunt for a manjula
I keep seeing this guys videos of him purposefully putting mealies on his Thai con to prove that whatever spray he’s selling works and I’m honestly intrigued by it and wonder if it works 😂 cause that was a scary infestation!
Video idea: Showstopper/Non-basic Large Floor Plants. The only things I ever see recommended for large living room plants are banana leaf plants, monstera and snake plants….. but like I want something big and fun and tall for my living room!
I’m sure you’ll get so many responses, but I am pretty sure you are ok to loop them, as long as you have at least the last 6-8 inches heading upward. Let’s see what other answers you get and well see the consensus. Will you PLEASE let us know? Also, I LOVED you Vetillinoides so much I ordered one on Palm Street from Florida. Wasn’t aware the entire US was due for a freeze a few days later. I ordered a mix of Hoya, philodendron, syngonium, an ALBO Monstera that was the most Gorgeous I’ve ever seen, and some dream wish list Anthurium. All 10 plants came in dead. I was devastated. A speck of Good news was that I found a Vetillinoides locally and was able to still buy one. Not as large and pretty, but she’ll grow, right? I hope someday she looks like yours! My 3 leaves won’t stand a candle to yours! Haha 😂
