This whole situation sounds weird to me just in my opinion. There are many scammers out there and people will do anything for money. Are we sure the nephew didn’t plan all of this from the beginning and the girl who came foward maybe in on it too. The guy only got 20 years probably get out early. Maybe they all were promised money from the nephew? I think it’s very odd how the girl came foward and again in my opinion was acting like everything she was saying was scripted. I find it weird that she tried to make it clear she didn’t know the nephew. Very weird to me and the nephew seems like a guy that could pull this off. Plus the nephew failed a liar detector test right? I would like to see them all get a lie detector test. I don’t know something just seems off especially how the nephew first asked about the jewelry and he knew what she had in the house. Oddly enough the so called killer had the jewelry and paintings and got caught watching news footage. Seems like the nephew already knew the jewelry and paintings were gone. Be interesting to see where all her money went? Very weird case. I just don’t believe any of those 3, again my opinion. And this guy all of sudden decides to plead guilty? Very strange bc he was better off going to trial bc they had no proof or evidence that he was there. No DNA or fingerprints. And in court it’s almost sad if he was being coached by the attorney and it was scripted. He didn’t know why he covered her face? Seems that all of sudden some girl comes foward and she solves the case and that’s it case closed. I don’t believe she didn’t know the nephew it seemed fake when she said she never heard of them. Either way that poor lady was killed. Michael comes off as very conceited and loves the attention. Almost like he is trying to come out as he has no secrets and yes he parties etc. etc. He comes off as a man that is constantly talking. Feels like he would have more motive for her to be dead bc I’m sure he was compensated through her will when she died. He even said he’s always financially troubled. It’s odd that they don’t mention anything about her assets and where they went, unless I missed it, I’m working and listening to it. But seems like Michael had more motive and would benefit the most and paid the other two off. And possibly it was his best option to go to prison and try to get out early and then be compensated and is set. Michael is the clever one and knew to use alcohol or told him to use it. Maybe Michael didn’t physically do it not sure but feels like he was definitely involved. Michael says he doesnt remember what he said to deputy’s. He’s a pretty smart guy, he remembers. And somehow her car was stolen. I guess the killer knew where she kept her keys and had time to find them while murdering Linda and also starting a fire. I’m sure Michael knew the house very well and knew where she kept her keys. Again my opinion but I’m sure I can’t be the only one that has suspicions….then again I could be completely wrong but I guess it doesn’t matter either way poor Linda was murdered and her life was cut short.

I don't think I've ever heard a more fake apology than the one the killer gave to Linda's family. 20 years seems like a slap on the wrist to someone who has proven themselves to be repeatedly violent and reckless out in society.
It was a voluntary confession. He did not need to apologize whatsoever. He seemed ashamed. Not everyone is 100% evil. Sometimes people do bad things and can feel remorse over it. He said he was hearing voices in his head. That indicates he was not in his right mind. Not an excuse, but a picture of what was going on begins to be painted. Funny, there are many many stories on 48 hours where a much older man is dating a much younger woman, and while they may note the age difference, they never label it as “INAPPROPRIATE. ”. Double standard, much?
it's like. kinda weird they called it inappropriate because while her suitors were much younger than her, they weren't actually "young" the way a lot of people would imagine with very old men and very young women. the examples 48 hours gave of "inappropriate" was someone 18 years younger than her and someone 27 years younger than her. If I were to assume she met them around the time she got her surgery, which was 55, that means they were 37 to 28 years old respectively, if not older depending on when she started dating them. While those age gaps are huge, both men are well into the years where they probably had a stable career, identity, and enough life experience to make experienced decisions with dating and who to trust. Like 37 and 28 are both around 30-40ish, they're not even young. They're totally younger than her, but they're not children or kids who just became adults like "inappropriate" would imply.

My mom is a retired banker who dealt with very wealthy clients. She always had the best stories about them from brawling teeth and knuckles at will readings to finding c*caine, loose diamonds, tons of cash and questionable pictures in their safe deposit boxes. She said if you want to see the rich and refined turn into common gutter trash throw some money in the air. 😂😂😂 People like Linda kind of set themselves up for disaster once they start and keep doling out money freely, especially to friends and family (and gigolos). People turn into straight vultures who you somehow owe in their minds.
@@chocolatefudge5263really..?! Her husband died from heart failure. Way to trash a deceased and murdered woman’s name! Victim blaming and accusing her of killing her husband?! You should be ashamed of yourself
My heart breaks for her nephew Michael, he was so close to his Aunt his whole life. And on top of that his family mistrusted him so his grief was even worse. My condolences to him and their family & friends. She was a great lady 💔
@@Janadu maybe his personality is cocky. He was very close to her, and he was worried about her cat & if she was robbed or not. Trying to figure out why she was murdered, & if the jewelry was gone. That's why he said he knew where the jewelry was & he could check. Also, he was closer to her than his mom and they were accusing him of killing her for money. Which he totally didnt & they excluded him at a time he needed them. I can guarun-dam-tee you he would only have to ask her for money & he'd get it. He may not be the sweetest guy in his demeanor or reputation but he was definitely grieving the loss of the only person he had a special relationship with in the family. If his heart was broken can you say how it would look?
Throughout the years of learning of different murders or other shenanigans that happen in Palm Beach, I've come to the conclusion that a huge number of people there are not of very decent character but very shiny on the outside.
what would you think, you said you are close to the victim, borrowed money without asking when to pay back but he did not visit during the burial? fishy. Sweet words but impossible to act, don't fit.
I lived there two years in 2021-2022. Panhandlers on every corner just outside city limits. Horrible place to live - mentally ill people and drug addicts everywhere. No exaggeration. Could not wait to move!
The nephew, who Aunty Linda “took care of his whole life”, was only interested in where her jewels were! Someone should have said “No” to him sometimes. He may have turned out a better man instead of a spoiled man-child.
Only 20 years? WTF??? Disgusting! He deserves life without parole. What is this world coming to? Punish these criminals with harsher sentences, especially murders, pedophiles, and rapists!!!
A friend named Shannon Leshin was killed buy her ex-boyfriend in her home with her kids in the house and he only received 20 years. Yet there are drug dealers that sold marijuana back in the eighties and nineties who got sentenced to prison for 15 to 20 years everyday. I would really hope that Shannon's murderer Gary never gets out but unfortunately he's going to be up for parole in about 5 years. It disgusts me that he will walk the face of the Earth again as a free man.
I have no idea why anyone guilty or innocent would ever submit to a polygraph test. They aren't admissable in court for a reason and are notoriously inaccurate.
If you don’t the police look at you like you have something to hide you can never win the police know damn well that the polygraph don’t prove anything
I saw a show on Investigation Discovery about a kidnapper and victim took polygraphs and the victim was declared to be deceptive and the kidnapper was NOT deceptive. Turns out the police found more evidence that proved the victim was telling the truth. My takeaway is Never take a polygraph. It’s not admissible and has too much room for error. I’m not giving them any reason to arrest me for something I didn’t do.
Polygraph tests are full of sh*t. The test shows the slightest deception...GUILTY! The test shows no deception? They want you to take it again...and again...and again until they get the results they're hoping for.
I took 2 polygraphs by the state police and I passed them both .. I was not telling the truth . It was for non violent crime . . But ANYONE who believes a machine of ANY kind , can tell you who Is lieing and who is not ... needs deep therapy .
I’m watching this in 2023 and I can’t think that this dude is still in prison. The only good thing is that this happened in Florida. If this had happened in my state and county of Los Angeles Ca, this guy would for sure be paroled. The girl who wrote this letter is a true hero. Without her, this case would still be cold and probably never closed because no one knew about this man in her life. The roommate was a coward for not going to the authorities.
People use the word "shaming" too freely now to escape having to take accountability. Did she deserve to die? ABSOLUTELY NOT! But should she have been more discerning regarding who she let into her life? 1000% yes! You CANNOT let just any random person into your life, especially when you have as much to lose as Linda did.
20 yrs. doesn't sound like Justice for taking Lindas life. It's amazing how you can see persons on these videos getting life sentences for similar crimes. I know it has a lot to do with which state your in and probably how good your lawyer is. It is just upsetting that these sick people can look forward to strolling, down the street, enjoying new sunrises, after they permanently took the light away from someone else. God have mercy on us all. 😢
Because he agreed to a confession which the state didn't have enough evidence in my opinion for an air tight conviction. And he was smart to say he didn't "plan" to rob her, when he did.
@@SidewaysInTraffic ahhhh. Thank You for sharing your insight. I didn't hear anything about a plea deal. I'll have to go watch it again. I still feel 20 was too lenient. But that's just my opinion.
Some of the wealthiest people I know, you wouldn’t be able to pick them out from the crowd. You attract horrible people when you have money, or even looks. The intentions are often to possess not to love or care.
And? I have billionaire relatives. They flaunt their money 😂 Rich people can tell other Richie’s from their mannerisms and behavior and energy. Can’t hide your wealth…..
I'd say it's part of the job, to shake people up whether they like it or not. There's no delicate way of dealing with people who seem to get easily offended, is there, and cops are daily put in that position. They can't worry about whether you "like" them or not, lol.
@@cynthiamurphy3669 Not when the person is just out & about living their daily life. Harassment is a misuse of power from these dikhead cops. “Easily offended”🙄 you’re talking bullocks.

Is it just me that thinks if someone deliberately kills, should go to prison for life? I don't know, just know if one of my family members were killed, thats what i would want. Seems to me that our justice system is so uneven. Sometimes sending a person to prison for 20 for pot..😳

That world is so surreal! A pretty bubble filled with fancy dinners, boats, and ridiculous outfits. And that Palm Beach detective - I am sure he's seen everything.
Can we just ban polygraphs already? Even just as an investigative tool, people's lifes are ruined at the toss of a coin (which has about the same likelyhood as a polygraph being accurate)
The scarier thing is that there are several times, much more than we know, cops nail people to the stake just off of a polygraph, and some locales are pushing for this junk science to be admissable in court
As a single 70 yo woman, I am so not interested in playing nursemaid to a man my age or sugar momma to a younger guy. No me interesa! But I'm still working so I'm far from lonely. Although, admittedly, at 55 yo for some reason or other, I would actively date.
It sucks that his family thought he was guilty but at a certain point you have to ask yourself why it was so easy for them to believe that and to do better. If he were smart he would say “I understand why you believed I was guilty” and then forgive them and grow up.
It amazes me the things people will do for what ever reasons!! Call me old fashion but I still believe in opening doors for ladies and treating them with kindness and respect!!❤

Lie detector tests are completely unreliable. When I was a graduate student in college, I passed one one week (given by the CIA no less, during an interview process) and failed one the following week (given by my then employer) and it was on the SAME question: Do you use cocaine? (Which I have never used.)
Poor Michael! They not only through under the bus but completely ran over him. He seems like a fun guy who just loves to party. The personality of most good DJ's.

Feel so terrible for the nephew, sad the family can’t apologize and say they were just scared . Damage is done
People like Linda kind of set themselves up for disaster once they start and keep doling out money freely, especially to friends and family (and gigolos). People turn into straight vultures who you somehow owe in their minds.
Absolutely. What a lack of judgment on Linda's part. Glamorous is really trash in disguise.
Im wondering now if Linda killed her husband. He and the lifestyle she had after him are completely opposed.
Annnnd we're victim blaming. Crazyyyy. 🙌🏽
Yup, money brings out the worst in people…
@@chocolatefudge5263really..?! Her husband died from heart failure. Way to trash a deceased and murdered woman’s name! Victim blaming and accusing her of killing her husband?! You should be ashamed of yourself
It is good her nephew was cleared and the case was solved. However, 20 years is a slap on the wrist - unbelieveable.
My thoughts exactly!
Now, the nephew is out on I-95 panhandling for his livelihood.
Good morning 48 Hours friends! Wish they’d upload these older episodes more often.
I agree
AGREED!!!
Me too!!
Unreal sad being in your own house and brutally killed.
Lots of prayers and love for the family.❤️🙏🏼
No not every woman needs a man !!!! LOVE your self more ladies
Exactly 💯
You can love yourself fully and still want a man.
@@sistersarahcWant and need being different things. I think Linda needed a man for her ego’s sake and that made her judgement very poor.
@@Mrs.TJTaylor Linda had no judgements , no taste about men , and no principle by spoiling her nephew. who became a big time loser.
My heart breaks for her nephew Michael, he was so close to his Aunt his whole life. And on top of that his family mistrusted him so his grief was even worse. My condolences to him and their family & friends. She was a great lady 💔
At what point do you see grief in him? He seems cocky and arrogant. Not a murderer, but for sure not a nice person.
I didn’t see grief though and he asked about the jewelry not about his aunt.
@@Memg007 see my response on this comment.
Oh,poor baby. He was only close to her money.
Palm Beach sure seems like an eerie place. There's lot of secrets to be uncovered from there.
There’s a high crime rate in that State.
@@mariapilarme West Palm Beach. Yes. Not in Palm Beach. Esp the north side.
The nephew, who Aunty Linda “took care of his whole life”, was only interested in where her jewels were! Someone should have said “No” to him sometimes. He may have turned out a better man instead of a spoiled man-child.
He will get his just rewards if not already. Karma never forgets. What goes around does eventually come around.
Only 20 years? WTF??? Disgusting! He deserves life without parole. What is this world coming to? Punish these criminals with harsher sentences, especially murders, pedophiles, and rapists!!!
Life in prison? Why should he be able to live when he took a innocent person’s life. Why should we as tax payers support this evil person?
@@lorikoenig6111 I totally agree!!!
Exactly, and you know with our corrupt system, he'll probably just serve 8.
He's probably out right now
A friend named Shannon Leshin was killed buy her ex-boyfriend in her home with her kids in the house and he only received 20 years.
Problem is it's seen as an admission of guilt to decline them as well. There is no winning when you're asked to take a polygraph.
20 years for ending a living, breathing human being’s life. There are no words!
Linda was living a very dangerous life.
She was insecure and need attention, that's always down hill.
Yes, if she had just enjoyed what she had and made the most of it, she could have been happy and lived longer.
I totally agree
She seemed to have a high opinion of herself
Mario kept quiet for so long & was
afraid to go to police because he
thought they would burn his house down.
That is heartbreaking 😔
That’s a coward. He’s just trying to sound like a potential victim. How can he call himself a man?

He was ONLY 18 years younger and was “not age appropriate “?! But some men date 25-30 years their junior and that’s ok? Double standard anyone!?
Yeah, them saying "age appropriate" was irritating
I was thinking the same thing. It's definitely a double standard that, unfortunately, will probably always exist.
@@lindseyyoung9149you're right about that. The double standard isn't going away anytime soon.
Usually the 20 years younger women go for the money same as men. Women are more vulnerable. Stay safe
Either way it’s not exactly appropriate. It’s legal but there’s a reason why and it is usually not poor people.
Michael's so proud of her precisely because she was such a bad judge of his character.
Linda needed a bigger lint screen.
20 years for an evil man, that is not justice.
Life for life.
This is why our country is going to the dogs
I’m watching this in 2023 and I can’t think that this dude is still in prison. The only good thing is that this happened in Florida. If this had happened in my state and county of Los Angeles Ca, this guy would for sure be paroled. The girl who wrote this letter is a true hero. Without her, this case would still be cold and probably never closed because no one knew about this man in her life. The roommate was a coward for not going to the authorities.
He was released in October 2022. He is out there somewhere!
20yrs jailed for killing a person! What kind of law is this.
Feels like they're really trying to shame this woman. I appreciate that it's part of the story but even so..
Shaming by matter-of-fact narration of her behavior?

People use the word "shaming" too freely now to escape having to take accountability. Did she deserve to die? ABSOLUTELY NOT! But should she have been more discerning regarding who she let into her life? 1000% yes! You CANNOT let just any random person into your life, especially when you have as much to lose as Linda did.
How can 2 consenting ADULTS in a relationship be deemed not “age appropriate” ? They’d never say that if the victim was a man.
What’s not age appropriate is that nephew of hers expecting a handout just bc she had the means…
They say that about men all the time. Nobody said Anna Nicole and the old guy were “appropriate”

20 yrs. doesn't sound like Justice for taking Lindas life.
Very light sentence . Felony too for steeling her things. Shame on the justice system and for that judge
Just another case that proves why polygraph tests aren't proof of guilt or innocence.
It all depends on human interpretation, which isn't infaillible.

Who goes to "reconnect with an old friend" at 1am? He was there to get money.
Picking up a guy you see driving in a truck parked next to you?!!! Living a reckless life with money is a recipe for disaster among vultures.
Some of the wealthiest people I know, you wouldn’t be able to pick them out from the crowd. You attract horrible people when you have money, or even looks. The intentions are often to possess not to love or care.
And? I have billionaire relatives. They flaunt their money 😂
Rich people can tell other Richie’s from their mannerisms and behavior and energy. Can’t hide your wealth…..

Twenty years in prison, how pathetic, why wasn't it life?
There is a difference between being vulnerable and desperate, I would say she was desperate and had the money to buy another person's attention but there is always a big risk in those endeavors
Thankful that Gisselle had a great moral compass and heart. Linda surely is her Guardian Angel now. ❤
What disturbs me the most is the lack of humanity in so many people.
Is it just me that thinks if someone deliberately kills, should go to prison for life? I don't know, just know if one of my family members were killed, thats what i would want. Seems to me that our justice system is so uneven. Sometimes sending a person to prison for 20 for pot..😳
He just got 20 years. That's insane. He took away so many friends and family members rock away and he just say he did not want to go to prison again. Mat he rot there as long as he is alive.
There is always so much happening in places where people expect to be most secure.

I don’t blame Michael I would never speak to the family that suspected me again. Sounds like they were jealous of his relationship with his aunt.
