Thanks for the video. Brand new to reloading and finding it is the worst time to start since finding components like primers and powder is a major challenge. I've had press and most accessories for years but never started and getting tired of looking at empty brass. Just when thinking no cheaper to reload; I found this video after putting together some high priced primers and powder and combining with free bullets that came with press and cleaned up brass. The app you use shows my efforts are well worth the new hobby I am sure will be sending a lot more lead down range. I can even purchase more bullets in the future and still enjoy some savings while keeping the barrel hot. Hats off to useful information when so much BS is out there.
The best time to start loading was yesterday, the next best time is today! And now, more than ever, people able to save money by reloading. Obviously there are less savings to be had on things like 9mm, but it'll still be better than factory costs. You'll see real savings on rifle loads that would be $1-3 a shot, you can load for $0.50-0.80 and have it tuned to your gun, even with stupid component prices. I can load 308win for the cost of 223 factory, etc. Good luck on your reloading. Feel free to ask any questions along the way. Thanks 👊👍🇺🇸
Your cost per shot on the purchased brass is actually the cost of the brass divided by the number of times you can reload it. So if you pay 10 cents a piece for the brass, and you load it ten times, your cost per shot is 1 cent.
While true, I should have been more specific. What if you want 10k pieces of ammo at one time? You need 10k unique pieces of brass. Yes, you can make 10k rounds with 1k pieces of brass, but not all at once. Thanks for watching🇺🇸🇺🇸
Best I can do in Canada, is about 1 cent per grain/powder, 8 cents each for primers + bullet cost. If I buy the cheapest bullets available I'm looking at about 26 cents per shot (20 cents USD), I can buy factory Winchester fmj ammo right now in stock for about 44 cents per shot (30 cents USD). Mike
Absolutely right. I got a bag of it several months back but have yet to play with it. I have everything else ready to go, I just haven't done it lol. Thanks for watching 👊🇺🇸👍

Interesting that you were able to purchase those primers online. When I go to the bass Pro or Cabelas website (using my online account) there is a notification that primers and powder are not available for purchase online. Won't even allow me to put the item in my shopping cart. A year or so back, I ordered Winchester Shotshell primers that carried a rebate from Winchester. Cabelas would not let me ship them to my local store in Boise, ID for pick-up and required that they be shipped directly to my home address and I did have to pay the hazmat fee. None of that makes any sense to me, especially where my local store carries primers and powder as a normal inventoried item. Very strange.
I had several other primer purchases through them during 2020, so that's very weird about your store. However, the one that I had shown was the last time they were available for me as well, and I haven't seen them ever since. I have seen random powders pop back in, but they go OOS just as quickly. @@DummyRound oh yes i do have tips, it took lots of experimenting to get a great primer. First of all, primall makes corrossive primers, be aware of that. Next, look for aardvark reloading on google he also has a youtube under a different name, best site i found for info. Primall is h48, add one small scoop of aluminum powder, it makes the primer really hot, great for slow powders. The most important step is the packing of the primer mix, when you add it to the cup fill it to the top then a little more and pack it down with a dowel same diameter as the cup, put a paper punch over it and pack it down again, then add the anvil. Essential step, my rifle primers now are hotter than magnum rifle cci primers. If yours arent, you are not doing it right, it has to go bang, not pshht. You can adjust with less mix to get the desired ignition, i just leave it max i get low deviation in fps. One mistake I did was to make alot of primers right away in the beggining, it took time to get it right. Read aadvarks course. There are lots of other subtleties to know, an important factor is the distance between the bottom of the cup and the anvil, too large and you get unreliable primers, too small and you get oversensitve/ dangerous primers. Press in the anvils in your press with a lee bullet resizing pin on the bottom ram and an upside down die with a flat top on the top.
It does seem that way, but I was just trying to illustrate the cost effectiveness of each type. However, the slower burning powders that give a greater case fill will often give a higher velocity at the same time. Thanks for watching and commenting 🇺🇸👍👊

Years ago I did all my own lead scrounging, bullet casting, PC bullet coating, it was fun, but it took up way too much of my time, and stuck with only casting bullets for the 44Mag and 444 Marlin. 2008/2009 is when I started loading the 9mm and 223, before that I could buy loaded ammo much cheaper then handload. Folks, you would faint if you knew have much of 9mm/223 brass we left at the range before 2008!
