Impeccable playing.... Martha is amazing, it as if what she musically envisions flows effortlessly naturally from her body into the piano. Such a natural talent.
In this orchestra, all is full of far superior splendor. The comfort and wonderfulness of this paramount performance she plays with exquisite are irreplaceable , unfathomable ,and full of tribute and emotion
I first heard the Chopin concerto #2 in 1972. The majestic introduction and intensely romantic theme of of the first movement immediately intrigued me. I loved it then and even more so at age 70. If beauty is it own excuse for being ‘ole Francois certainly had his own incredibly unique concept and insight into all that makes classical music an apex of artistic expression anywhere in the universe. The first time I see Martha not jumping instantely from the piano as the concert ends. In the finale of the second movement she is holding her tears. I immagine she was passing throught a bad time.
Watching her now as an eighty year old woman, who cannot be that far from death, she appears more content, at peace and happier than she did when she was younger and quite beautiful. I love her playing and we will never know what emotions she is truly going through.
@@daniels7052 Thank you! I'm aware of the recording. Surprisingly, I've always had mixed feelings about her playing of it. It's so virtuosic, but Schumann sounds like a man in love. I think she fares better in his more abstract and narratively driven works.
@@daniels7052 Oh, I absolutely agree with you. You can't beat Argerich on any level. At best, you can have a different perspective. I think I prefer Uchida.

Tout ça manque beaucoup de précisions : lieu, date, orchestre, sans compter que la prise de son est lamentable, et n'est pas digne de figurer au catalogue de RUclips !
I and I love Martha's Szopen! Such passion and delicatenes..She opens I and I soul in each Szopen's Piece she plays..❤
Jedna z lepszych interpretacji tego młodzieńczego koncertu Chopina,
prawdziwego wyznania pierwszej miłości. :)

What an incredibly gifted woman
Martha Argerich is a musical Alchemist of the piano embodying musical aesthetics of Chopin

I agree. She looks very sad, which is unfortunate.

Martha so great!!!
6:14 - chopin's eternal genius and martha's beautiful hands
Thank you for re uploading this and this is from 1978 the same concert where she played the Schumann piano concerto
Amazing she was able to do both.
No wonder she has a glitch in the 3rd movement if I remember correctly. That's EXHAUSTING!

With Klee a fabulous collaboration on the 3rd Rachmaninoff......where is Klee,????
What orchestra is this?
Yeah, it’s unfortunate the flat, static sound of the orchestra. But sister Argerich still sounds great! PWG
Why was she so pissed?
She seemed really”rushed” in the first movement I think
***** Kobiety słyszą w innych barwach i dotykają klawiszy na innej tęczy .
Terrible sound, wonderful interpretation, wonderful Martha. The rest is history.
it's so sad that this is the only video of Martha playing the Chopin 2nd concerto I found and it has so poor audio quality.

It seems that the conductor has put Martha in her place, crushing her self esteem and teaching her to behave.
I guess you must be a great pianist, very well behaved, and very humble.
