Honest question: is there a Döner anywhere in Germany worth paying more than 20€ (which is already REALLY EXPENSIVE)? Also just a little update, I finished publishing the stickers for the Germany Camper Tour and I can’t wait to give em all out! I’ve been reading your emails about suggestions of places I should visit during my stay in Germany and to that I say KEEP SENDING suggestions please! I’m planning more trips in the future and I wanna dive as deep as I can in Germany‘s cultural rabbit hole! 🎉❤
No fast food is worth 20E - otherwise it wouldn't be fast food 😂 Also, that Weihenstephaner is the real beer deal FR - but we still need to drink that Berlin alcopop beer I texted you about: Berliner Luft x Krombacher 🍻
There is one Döner I can think off... a real big Döner wrapped in a 10 Euro Note. This trend "making fast food with expensiv ingredients" is annoying. Currywurst, Frikadellenbrötchen, Pizza, etc. were designed to be inexpensiv savory meals. It is pretentious BS to make a 37 Euro Döner. P.S.: If something is so bathed in sauce that the sauce is an overpowering flavour ... that´s not fine cuisine. I can make nearly ANYTHING tasty with a good sauce and that is great but real cooking is preserving and mixing flavors and textures to creat something unique. James if you really try it, please let me know if this thing has more than one flavour.
No there isnt! but i am glad to say, that the Döner prices vary a LOT between towns. in my hometown e.g., im still getting away with 6 Euros er Döner. and they are really good too
Döner should cost between 4 and 8 EUR, depending on where you're going to. Anything more expensive is just a rip off. It's just cheap ingredients after all. The one in the video has expensive truffles in it. You might as well put kobe beef in there and ask 200 EUR for it. Makes it expensive, but isn't a real Döner.
There are stingy men, and then there are men who know and accept that women can pay their own bills. Huge difference. I don‘t like the attitude of many American women who think that the man must pay the bill on a date. I think they belittle themselves by expecting the man to pay for everything. Of course you don‘t always have to split the bill. Sometimes she pays, sometimes he pays, sometimes both pay… no big deal.
That'S the reason why US-Americans are so in debt. Bragging with their money until the credit card is cut in half. In Germany there is the saying "Don't talk (brag/show) about money - You have it" (Über Geld spricht man nicht, man hat es).
To be fair, the attitude of many American men is that they should be the provider and women should stay at home. If a guy expects this of me, I expect him to pay on a date. I know, not all American men, but also, not all American women.
in fact, it´s a combined word, that contains the walk already. It comes from the phrase: "spazieren gehen" (go for a stroll) - combined Nomen (Substantiv) would be the "Spaziergang" in this case.
Haha, cultural differences: US Americans brag about their wealth and love showing off luxury stuff. Germans brag about their savings and love showing off how many special offers they can find in one day. For Germans it is absolutely normal to have three options: Man covers the bill / woman covers the bill / both split the bill. It depends on the circumstances and splitting is something most females love because they want to be on "eye level" with the guy. For some, if he covers the bill, it will feel like they are owing him something and they do not want to feel dependent on any man. Storno translates to cancellation / reversal.
Germany went through two world wars, versailles treaty and the debts after 1945. Before 1870 the Germans was basically exploited by the French. Not really self induced struggles made Germany starve several times within only 150 years and even before that there was the 30 year war. Looking for special offers/deals and the saying "sei froh das etwas zum essen auf dem tisch ist" stems from that. To many things are taken for granted. It was quite common (until the 90's) that a Man could afford to pay for everything while the Woman raises the children. Now the Man cant afford it on his own, the Wife has to work. Usually, in Germany, 1 Man feeds a 4 headed Family. Now Man and Wife work full-time and need some "Aufstockungen". You can call that positive, if you like 🙂
James, you already know sooo much!!! It's insane, that you are this interested in our little country (compared to the US). I have heard what you said about its origins. Awesome. That is what life is. No, we have almost everything digital. The bookkeeping department keep copies in paper, as they have to legally be kept in "unalterable" format. From January next year the digital invoices have to be delivered and stored in unalterable format. I probably print a dozen pages a month at work.
Storno means "to cancel" or "to reverse". Essentially a supervisor has to come to the checkout and use their supervisor key at the register to allow the cancellation/reversal of the buying process.
In Germany, it would generally be considered rude to randomly pick up someone's bill when they invite you for their birthday. It's their company, so they are treating you. Paying in their stead would be patronizing, implying they can't pay for their own stuff or have poor planning. Taking over your wife's bill on her birthday party would present you as the sole provider and her as financially dependent. Depending on your situation, this could make you look like a chauvinist who can't deal with a woman who has her own affairs in order. If you're like 30 years married with a shared account, it obviously doesn't matter who currently physically holds the cash, but these things are a delicate balance of sentiments and wishes. And you don't know what additional transactions happen under the table. It's not uncommon to have grandpa kick in a few bills on the down-low. Whether you want that or not. I mean, what are you gonna do? Make a scene and embarrass you both? No, you helpfully bring them their coat in the end and slip the money into a pocket.

6:25 Well at least he knows that us Goths like to be called "Grufti" (pl. Grufties) in German. There's a long standing feud between the Goth, Punk and Metal subcultures and HipHop subculture here. Nobody really takes it seriously anymore, though, but there have been times when you ended up beaten by "Hoppers", if they caught you alone.
It always depends on how the people who run the companies see it. I have long since completely digitized my company. Of course, we still get paper mail from time to time, mostly from the authorities, but all other business partners have long since gone digital. Privately, I scan the stuff and throw it away immediately (except for the crap from the authorities, which usually has to be returned by post). And to the lady with the stingy son-in-law, I'd like to say: he's not a typical German, he's just a miserable tightwad. I had a boyfriend like that in my younger years and was glad to be rid of him. Otherwise, I've only ever known men to be generous and I'm generous myself.

Nope.
Spent money is temporary. Saved money is forever. Save money people. Just save it. You need to hoard it, sleep on it.

It’s hard to believe that there is actually someone who is learning german… Ryan 👁️👁️
15:05 "Berlin looks kinda hit", guess what happened 80 years ago
LMAO 😂😂😂😂
You’re a great dude. 🤣🤣🤣
Mois is fucked up like this cause too much cocaine. I dont think people can just smoke them crazy like him. U gotta watch some more clips to understand 😂😂

Das Hotel ist ja nicht für uns. Da wohnten Sophia Loren, Dustin Hoffmann, der Dalai Lama, Elisabeth II. und Barak Obama. Die können sich das leisten.

Döner for 3,50€ and 0,5liter beer for 50€c should be a humen right.
