The first three Child’s Play movies are the best. Once he started getting married and had a kid, it got stupid. Though, Curse of Chucky was a return to form for the franchise. Then, Cult ruined it again.
The first one was a legit great horror film and very suspenseful.
The original films were dark
Watch this series again cuz u clearly haven't in a while. im fine wit the first one being in the top 3 and definietily the 2nd one being the best but the 3rd one wasn't all that dawg, u kidding me wit it being one of the best? it's dull and kinda boring honestly. i grew up wit these films and child's play 3 is just not aging well dawg, it's a decent film at best.
bride of chucky was a huge step up from that film idk what your talking about? It had possibly the best chucky design wit the stiched up doll, introduced the 2nd best character in the series behind chucky, tiffany, It was more well paced, more entertaining, reinvented the series and brought it back to life. much like how curse & cult did wit the series after that trash seed almost killed it.
Also cult of chucky is one of the strongest entries in a while. i didn't like that movie at first but watching it again retrospectively, made me appreciate it even more. it was bold, risky, bizarre, inventive, & somewhat ambitious, it's the best the series has been in a while.

Chucky is definietily the best slasher series of all time, it's consistant, still relevent & reinvents itself from time to time. plus chucky's probably the greatest slasher character of all time, brad dourif just keeps getting better n better as him.

Yup ima get alot of hate, but child's play 2019 is my favorite!! Love the story they take with it. And i perfer to get a sequel to 2019, instead of don Mancini version.

@@themovieranker Very true! To be honest, I probably haven't given the remake a fair shake. First I wasn't interested cos Dourif wasn't in it, then I got interested again when Hamill took the role but then when I watched it the whole A.I plot just completely threw me and I couldn't get in to it. Should I give it a second watch you think?

Lol I remembered you weren't a fan of those bottom 2 when you ranked them. Cool to see part 3 at the top, it's definitely one that grows on me on every watch. Used to not care for it but its great characters and setting is winning me over
@@themovieranker Yeah not sure why 3 always gave me the most fun, I am big into the War Film genre, and there's so few horror films set in a military setting. Red Sands, Ghosts Of War, Deathwatch and Overlord are about the only off the top of my head. Much like Westerns. Not a lot of western setting horror either, I think I have about every horror one of those 2 genre mixes because there aren't that many. So CP3 is special in that sense.
Well I think #2 is overrated. It wasn’t much different from the first one, the kills were so so, and it didn’t really have that feel the first and third ones had. The first really held you as you learned about the franchise and while #3 was a little cheesy with the military part, the kills were better and the plot was more unique than the second. The second is straight up a bland continuation. The third was at least something new- a new kid being hunted and Chucky only wanting revenge on Andy as opposed to needed him. So it was like 2 plot lines

Honestly, I respect with ur list, here’s mine , included the TV show and remake
1: child’s play2(great balance of everything , writing and a great sequel)
2: child’s play(Nearly a perfect movie but personally, if I were make some changes, I would move Charles’s death way later in the movie, that way it’s more of a reveal or a backstory, to keep the mystery of: “was it actually the doll or was it Andy”)
3: bride of chucky (this is just a personal thing because, that movie was from my childhood, loved it as a kid- maybe not the most perfect movie but definitely a fun one, I absolutely love the colour palette of the movie that Gothic aesthetic with the Rob Zombie songs- especially the living dead girl intro, having Chucky being built like some sort of Frankenstein’s monster is so peak and so good)
4: child’s play 3( this one’s an iffy because I do have mixed opinions, but I definitely watched the third one many times as a kid as well, it’s not a bad movie, but I feel like the military plot line is kind of odd, considering it’s treated like some sort of high school stereotype, but I absolutely love the amusement park ride scene where chucky’s face gets sliced, that looked is so cool, but it’s too bad that it’s around the end of the movie , It didn’t last long.tho for don’s defence, he was kind of forced to make a third movie, and he didn’t have any inspiration whatsoever, so it does explain why the movie seemed flat, compared to the other two movies)
5: curse of Chucky, (surprisingly I actually like this one, I like to see the Scarface chucky being used as an actual threat or I guess scary, it’s definitely much darker, which I like, the only thing I didn’t really like is the backstory, that one fell off, but I guess to be fair curse of Chucky was more like a remake in don’s eyes)
6: seed of chucky(this one’s a shocker, most people would put it at the bottom of the list but despite how awful the writing and how goofy it is, I did find some charm to it- There are many things I would change and take away but what I do love is the character designs of the dolls themselves, especially Chucky, that Chucky, is my favourite look of him, it is such a shame he was not used for a better movie, though like you said it’s not the worst thing but for a Chucky movie it’s far from perfect )
7: Chucky season one(for a TV show. It’s actually not that bad. It has a nice mystery element to it and some character development, I really like the beginning of the show episodes, but around the end of the season , it was just too weird and too confusing, the backstory is all changed again kind of ignoring curse of Chucky’s backstory)
8: cult of chucky (I just didn’t really find appeal with this movie.. there’s nothing really special other than maybe the mental hospital part.. I just did not like the look of the dolls, although it’s nice to see Andy again and a huge shocker to see the Chucky head. The movie was definitely on the right path, it’s just something felt off I guess??, it felt short given to the fact there is not a whole lot going on, but I do enjoy the kills)
9: Chucky season three(I’m very mixed with this one.. It’s not the worst thing, but it’s not a great either, however, I do appreciate the kills, the plot, seeing Brad dourif in action, but still very goofy and off, I definitely cringe at some parts, and no sign of scar chucky in any of the seasons, kind of sad and disappointed at that)
10: Chucky season two(literally the worst thing I have ever witnessed in my life.. I felt drained after watching that season, I would never watch it again. It was that bad, I can’t even find anything good about it. It’s not even charming or anything- it’s so messy, too many ideas with no explanation or reason, too many other things- it would just leave me questioning things, Like I can’t even put into words what I just witness it’s just just that messy, all the characters were just done dirty, I would rather watch seed of Chucky 10 times then having to watch the entire season two)
11: child’s play 2019( The movie is actually not awful but the reason I put it at the bottom of the list is because the movie comes off as disrespectful to the original, the original franchise is not even finished and the remake just popped out of nowhere- but it’s also the fact that the movie does not feel Chucky whatsoever, which I understand why since they only have the rights to the title, but why even make a remake in the first place??? They tried but it still doesn’t even feel like a Chucky movie at all, the movie does have potential, but they never do anything creative, it just feels like a black mirror episode honestly)

I'll be honest, i love the 2nd movie at best and dont fully understand the hate for the 3rd movie. Sure its a little boring but all the movies got pretty boring after the 2nd movie. So i rank the series in this order.

Really great list I would child play as number one for me as it’s in my top 5 movie of all time such an amazing 3rd act but can’t argue with the OG very surprised with the reboot being that high up but the kills was def be brutal
The barber in Child's Play 3 is played by the brilliant Andrew J Robinson, the killer in Dirty Harry. I also love him for his re-occurring role in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. I met him at a sci-fi convention about 10 years ago, he's a really nice guy, and as he gave me his autograph he took it as a compliment when i told him that he was brilliant at playing psychos lol.

It's one that has grown on me over the years. I used to not care for it at all but now I enjoy it. It's 6th in my ranking but honestly I really do like all 6 of those films. The other 2....not so much lol

I might get hate for this one lol, remember it's only personal opinion. I used to love the original, but the problem is my much younger sisters when they were about 4 and 5 nearly wore oyt the video tape, i got sick of seeing it lol, i'm about 10 years older than them.

I love the tv series too. Last November i binge-watched the first two seasons over 3 days. I'm waiting for free access to season 3.
With 99% of shows, certainly those made in the last 20 years i have no interest, but with Chucky, i had to make an exception.
I know i'm unusual but i don't mind when a horror turns to comedy like Seed Of Chucky, i love the film, i love Freddy's Dead even more (i know you saw my Elm Street rankings). My three favourite genres are action, horror, and comedy, so as long as i find the film entertaining i don't mind which of those, or which combination it comes under. Obviously i like other genres too such as thriller, sci-fi, mystery.

I love Chucky alot, great ranking and this is my first ranking here on this channel, here's my ranking-
#8: Child's Play 3 "3/10" I always get bored from this one, only thing I liked was the final act.
#7: Seed of Chucky 5/10. I love Jennifer Tilly acting like herself in this one and I love some of the jokes in this one
#6: Child's Play (2019) 5/10 Just another remake.
#5: Cult of Chucky 5/10. Never cared for this one really, I always forget about it.
#4: Curse of Chucky 6/10. Very creepy but it was forgettable to me like the last one.
#3: Bride of Chucky 8/10. Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany is just perfection, only problem was those damn kids (The boy & Girl)🙄
#2: Child's Play 2 9/10. Loved this film, I liked the creative kills and seeing more of Andy is always a plus! I also liked his adopted sister too!
#1: Child's Play (1988) 10/10. I love the mystery for this one, I always liked Andys mom and I wish she was in the second one! The ending traumatised me when I was younger 😅

[1]: Child’s Play 2: The film that PERFECTED Chucky. It has great aesthetic, great OST, good pacing, likable characters… almost everything is great about this film, easily landing it in my top 5 horror films of all time.
[2]: Bride Of Chucky: A film that perfectly blends horror & comedy, something Seed failed to do. It probably has the best OST in the franchise, probably because i’m a huge rob zombie fan. Chucky’s design is perfect & Tiffany was likable.
[3]: Child’s Play: It may not be perfect, but it’s a movie that had a special place for me. The story was really interesting, and the soundtrack was just PEAK.
[4]: Curse Of Chucky: They basically toned down the humor tremendously, and made Chucky finally scary again. The soundtrack was interesting, and the post credit scene was perfect.
[5]: Cult Of Chucky: The plot is really confusing, but the reason it lands in my top 5 is because of the gore. The gore is amazing, that I was surprised in the theater. Either than that, it’s a fine movie. Could’ve been better.
[6]: Child’s Play (2019): Another fine movie, but the only thing that brings this movie down is Chucky’s design. Either way, I really like the kills and the soundtrack was clever.
[7]: Seed Of Chucky: Blended horror & comedy in a bad way, and by far involved some unnecessary shit, like a turkey baster and sperm.
[8]: Child’s Play 3: The film that lacks creativity, dumb way Chucky was resurrected, and bad acting.

@@themovieranker it’s perfectly looney tunes. That is the good thing about the Elm Street franchise. It does horror/comedy just as good as it does straight horror. Having a narrative style variety is a strength of this franchise. Embrace that.
@@themovieranker I think it also speaks to the complexity and versatility of this character. There is room for multiple diverse interpretations. Think Batman: Adam West, Michael Keaton, Christian Bale.
