You made mention of the Mississippi Blues Marathon. I ran it a few weeks ago. This race has so much untapped potential, in my opinion. Would you agree? The race is small; it should be huge. The race should have bands every couple of miles; the race only had a couple of bands. The race should have a grandiose post-race party; the post-race was lackluster.
Just looked up the Skechers GoBionic. That's insane that Thomas ran a marathon in those! Less than 14 mm in the forefoot. 😮 It was a different time, for sure.
I can’t help wondering why I’ve heard no outrage about Bank of America emblazoned on the Chicago medal (they’ve sponsored CHI since 2008.) Granted the rest of the CHI medal is fabulous (at least the one I have from last October) and the upcoming BOS medal is super plain compared to the last three years, especially 2021’s beauty you guys mentioned.
Suzuki Kengo ran 2:04.5x and broke Osako Sugurus Japanese record but he can only run well in small meets. Didn’t even qualify for this years Olympics at MGC
I actually have it and found it to be pretty boring and seemed more about the author than actual Japanese running. So I stopped reading it. Maybe should give it another chance. - R
All three of Finn’s running books are through the lens of his personal experience trying to integrate into different running communities. I found the Japan one the least engaging of the three. The Running with Kenyans was the best and then Rise of the Ultrarunner. But I enjoyed the whole trilogy.
@@brianreiter5572 I've heard the same about the Japan book, but that was the first one I bought so I never moved to the other two. Need to revisit them.
what difference does it make if they complain now vs then? I mean if they know they're gonna get that meddle, I think they deserve to complain. And it is rather terrible compared to medals of the past, be real.
I couldnt care less for medals. I threw or lost mine (3) Its a waste of metal, plastic, new resources. Similar to tshirt, plastic backpacks and so on. And I find it a little hypocritical - to spend hundreds of dollars on shoes and be upset cuz you dont get a metal medal? Running is about more than medals or tshirts. I love BITR but I feel that you guys are not very “believers” in environmental policies. Kinda sad
I compost my food scraps and bike to work. Buy used for phones, cars (one is a 2009 and one is a 2017), and furniture. Repair everything I can, recycle literally everything, give most of my shoes away after I'm done reviewing, live in a 1,200 sq foot house... what I don't believe in is companies and corporations acting like they actually care about the environment. They don't. FWIW I also hate race tees and think they should be abolished - R

The mockup of the legionnaire is unreal
The hack is to take the Naval Academy exit next time. Had no trouble getting to the parking lot.

Have deff used that party smart, picked some up at Sprouts 😂
Was it magical for you as well?
Nothing is as bad as the Cape Cod Marathon Medal from last year (2023)
I’m sure 100 people have communicated this to you by now, but just in case… not only is Willow Smith, Will + ow, their son is Jaden, Jada -a + en.
Ah, yes. So who's Owen?

You guys should read The Way of The Runner by Adharanand Finn. All about the running culture in Japan. Really good book!

I keep forgetting Robbie plays disc golf! Where did you play when in South florida?
There's a 9-hole short course in Sunrise at Cypress Preserve Park, really fun little course overall
I've played there! Not bad place! Try going to courses where u see big iguanas lounging on the grass or pass banna spiders web creations
Holy moly you guys are bad at math 😂 good thing you make a great podcast
At which point did you actually considered to do a marathon?
Guyana is pronounced guy (like a man) - ana (like a woman's first name)
Imagine complaining about the esthetics of a medal from a race you haven't run yet? Finish the race and then complain all you want.
