+maiira As a kid, it felt a lot longer (like they were taking FOREVER to reach that house). Amazing how our childish minds took in things at that time.
I've seen them all. Zootopia was cute and funny, but it's nowhere near the level of some of these classic Disney movies. Big Hero 6 was okay and Frozen was absolute garbage, completely unmemorable in my opinion.
As much as I love the classic Disney films... I grew up on the big ones from the '80s and '90s... I think you're being way too hard on Frozen. Frozen felt like a return to what I loved about those earlier Disney productions.
People hanging on to their nostalgia as usual... The old movies they saw as kids will always be better... Since they're not kids anymore, they can't see how awesome the Disney movies of today are too...
When Disney was pure cartoons no 3D's. I'm not saying now days Disney's movies are bad but seeing old school clips like these just makes me feel sad in a good way how Cartoons can impact our childhood hearts. No matter how hard or tough we grew up to be, we all were once a lil kid growing up to this.
This movie desperately needs more attention... Even though it's not what you expect from Disney I still love this movie. It has some amazing visuals and a really good, action-packed plot. :)
Even after all these years, the music of this intro gives me a sense of adventure and action that one would expect from Australia. Whenever I think of Australia, I imagined this intro music playing. :) So when I first saw this movie back then, I really truly love it, given I think this one is far better than the first Rescuers. :)

omg, my childhood! I saw this when I was 10 years old, and ten years later, when i got my first cannabis high, this scene was the first thing I remembered.
This was the FIRST Disney sequel. This course became a huge thing in the 90s and 2000s for Disney. Most of those sequels were direct to video instead of theatrical released. Maybe 2 or 3 out of all of them were. Such a this, return to Neverland, and jungle book 2.
For me, this film is not just nostalgia from my childhood, it's also the first time I ever heard of Australia as a small kid. So for me, the opening with its music, horn and the rocks just screams: AUSTRALIA! :)
Hard to believe that this underrated film came out in 1990, the year I was born. And yet the following year, my ultimate favorite film, Beauty and the Beast came out.
While the opening of the first rescuer movie is calm somber epic and mystical showing a bottle traveling though the sea to New York this opening was fast paced and action packed knowing there will be danger and challenges that awaits the two
Opening to The Rescuers Down Under 1992 VHS (no previews at all). Print Date: June 16, 1993. The lists: 1. 1991 Green FBI Warnings. 2. 1988 Prototype Walt Disney Classics Logo. 3. 1990 Walt Disney Pictures Logo. 4. Opening Credits. 5. Start of the Film.
first your like hmmm i guess its going to be like the first one quite and simple but then the movie is like SHUT YOUR FACE!!! and goes bat shit awesome
I heard somewhere that due to popular demand, after this title was initially vaulted in spring 1993, Disney brought it back out later that summer so people could still buy it, before finally being vaulted again in October 1994 with the discontinuation of the Classics Collection. (I recall something similar happened with "The Fox and the Hound," being brought back out in fall 1995 due to popular demand, and I have actually seen a few tapes with a print date of early 1996!)

I made a MGM/UA Home Video(Turner) print to this Videocasette with including the Super Mario World and Super NES promo(now avaiable). Like the 1977 film( released by MGM), was owned by Warner Bros
Can I let you find the 1992 Demo VHS of The Rescuers with the vertical Stickerlabel, the June 12, 1992 print date, and the 1988 Prototype Walt Disney Classics Logo?
Can I let you find the 1992 Demo VHS of Beauty and the Beast with the vertical Stickerlabel, the July 29, 1992 print date, and the 1988 Prototype Walt Disney Classics Logo?
Oops! Sorry, Mr. thememorylanechannel, sir. I guess the 1991 Laserdisc, the 1991 and 1992 VHS of The Rescuers Down Under keep the 1989 Walt Disney Classics Logo.
This was my first introduction to Australia and my first reason for wanting to go there. Now my most recent reason to go there is my girlfriend, who lives in Canberra. My this brings back memories.
It actually has: 1. 1984 Red FBI Warnings 2. 1986 Walt Disney Home Video 3. Don't miss this timless Disney Classics 4. The Jungle Book Preview 5. 1990 Gold Feature Presentation 6. 1989 Walt Disney Classics Logo 7. 1990 Walt Disney Pictures Logo 8. Opening Credits There's no Robin Hood Preview at all.
This and Great Mouse Detective are in my opinion the best Disney cartoons. Not some of the best.... THE best. That opening is my benchmark for what the first seconds of a movie must be before being called 'awesome'; the only examples that surpass it that I've seen being the opener for Laputa and for The Two Towers.
Ive been searching for ages for a particular Disney VHS montage that used to play on my lady and the tramp VHS. I no longer have the VHS. I remember there being the duck tales kids and some birds singing something and the rescuers down under was in it too.,,,Im not crazy lol
Right up there with The Lion King opening. Nothing but land/nature, creatures in their habitat, and EPIC music! 💯 90's Disney rocks! Anything after the 90's, and previous, can't be compared. (Just my opinion.) Though everything since has still been good nonetheless.
One of the best openings to a movie ever. Gives me nostalgia chills every time.
It's been 23 years and that opening sequence is STILL goddamned impressive.
+maiira As a kid, it felt a lot longer (like they were taking FOREVER to reach that house). Amazing how our childish minds took in things at that time.
This is the scene that always got me excited for the entire movie, why do people miss out on this film? It's phenomenal!
This isn’t the whole opening. Whole thing is much more impressive.
One of the most underrated Disney movies, in my opinion. Always loved this one!
gabby 1:45 me too.
This opening was so exhilarating to watch as a kid...still is!
Wow, even today this intro gives me goosebumps. To me, this one of the best Disney openings.
Disney is a disgrace these days
Nope... I haven't been to the movies in over 10 years, I don't want to see those movies, ever
I've seen them all. Zootopia was cute and funny, but it's nowhere near the level of some of these classic Disney movies. Big Hero 6 was okay and Frozen was absolute garbage, completely unmemorable in my opinion.

One of the most underrated Disney movies ever!!
This flick needs a bigger following! So many people are overlooking this one. It's one of my absolute Disney favorites!
When Disney was pure cartoons no 3D's. Imagine this opening in IMAX 3D. Like holy shit, that would be epic.
Christian Daniel 1:46 good 💡
Omg yes!!! Hearing that surround sound everywhere especially the end credits!
This movie desperately needs more attention... Even though it's not what you expect from Disney I still love this movie. It has some amazing visuals and a really good, action-packed plot. :)
Captain B. Z. Agreed.
Video Home System
The Opening Sequence running through a Flower Field is SO awesome.
30 years later and still love that intro
Fun fact: The Rescuers was supposed to get a third film but it was cancelled due to Eva Gabor's death in 1995
I think this is one of the best opening sequences that Disney has done.
+Apple Bee Hunchback.
Apple Bee I think they're all great :) I don't really rank them. It'd be too hard.
Apple Bee I was just bringing it up because it's one of the great Disney intros, and that's what was being discussed here.
Apple Bee No, I mean I don't rank these three. I guess I put all three at the top of my list, in no specific order/ranking.
Missab4000 1:35
Those Disney opening credits, holy shit. So many feels.
forgot how much i missed the old Disney castle… TTnTT
Great movie. very underrated and an infinite times better than it's predecessor in my opinion :P
Truly very underrated; probably one of my favorite Disney classics! And yes, I agree, it is better than the first one.
Saw this when I was 2 or 3, and though watching multiple times, I learned how to fly in my dreams.
Also, that song is one of the best.
surprisingly, i can watch this movie numerous times and it still won't get old
Even after all these years, the music of this intro gives me a sense of adventure and action that one would expect from Australia. Whenever I think of Australia, I imagined this intro music playing. :)
So when I first saw this movie back then, I really truly love it, given I think this one is far better than the first Rescuers. :)
The soundtrack for this film is just genius.

yes!
The intro STILL looks good. It aged pretty well.

@TropicalHonduranDominican This was just according to my research.
my child hood, first movie i ever remember seein.....

there's lots of great animated Disney movies like The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, but this one is totally underrated.
While the opening of the first rescuer movie is calm somber epic and mystical showing a bottle traveling though the sea to New York this opening was fast paced and action packed knowing there will be danger and challenges that awaits the two
This is Disney's first animated theatrical sequel, following Fantasia 2000 in 1999, Ralph Breaks the Internet in 2018 and recently, Frozen 2.
Happy 30th anniversary Rescuers Down Under! 11/16/2020

Connor Paull Okay, will do.
As someone who used to play the french horn, I am totally wishing I could play the part at 1:45 to the end!
Wow, now this brings back memories of my childhood, I get a tingly feeling in my brain just watching the beginning of this movie!
I heard somewhere that due to popular demand, after this title was initially vaulted in spring 1993, Disney brought it back out later that summer so people could still buy it, before finally being vaulted again in October 1994 with the discontinuation of the Classics Collection. No previews?
Me too. But unfortunately, a lot of people don't remember about this movie.
I made a MGM/UA Home Video(Turner) print to this Videocasette with including the Super Mario World and Super NES promo(now avaiable). Like the 1977 film( released by MGM), was owned by Warner Bros
And people would rather watch Frozen... :D
I like both because I love Disney.
***** Agreed!!!
Tim Carney :)
No kidding; this is a MUCH better movie, isn't it?!
Absolutely lol I just watched that darn film well I was in and out of it and was like throw in Aladdin or Lion king original
Cuz of your comment I cracked up the whole intro :D
Yes, supermarcx owns that print. It's where the 1991 lilac FP logo made its debut.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
The best Disney sequel. That's an objective fact.
I like the Rescuers 1992 vhs 📼 better than any vhs.
Can I let you find the 1992 Demo VHS of The Rescuers with the vertical Stickerlabel, the June 12, 1992 print date, and the 1988 Prototype Walt Disney Classics Logo?
i completely agree, forget the lion king in 3d, this one is really worth it in 3d, the whole movie is perfectly adaptable for 3d
Why wasn't this rereleased in IMAX?
This was my first introduction to Australia and my first reason for wanting to go there. Now my most recent reason to go there is my girlfriend, who lives in Canberra. My this brings back memories.
Best intro ever :D
It actually has:
1. 1984 Red FBI Warnings
2. 1986 Walt Disney Home Video
3. Don't miss this timless Disney Classics
4. The Jungle Book Preview
5. 1990 Gold Feature Presentation
6. 1989 Walt Disney Classics Logo
7. 1990 Walt Disney Pictures Logo
8. Opening Credits
There's no Robin Hood Preview at all.
Are you sure it exists? Because I have never seen a 1991 preview for "Robin Hood" on any other release.
You know the music in this opening scene gives me a jungle movie vibe
This and Great Mouse Detective are in my opinion the best Disney cartoons. Not some of the best.... THE best. That opening is my benchmark for what the first seconds of a movie must be before being called 'awesome'; the only examples that surpass it that I've seen being the opener for Laputa and for The Two Towers.
I'm wanting to go to Australia in a few years.
This is a cool and "one of a kind" cartoon. none like it ever since.
Who wishes this could have been an opening for "The Nutcracker Prince"?
Fun fact: this is one of the first times disney contracted pixar to animate for them!
Isn't there another copy of this movie where lilac-blue Feature Presentation logo made it's debut?
Imagine this opening in theaters nowadays in IMAX 3D. Shame Disney hasn't thought of this yet. SMH.
2:32 is the part I always remember ^^
same, it does actually get irritating sometimes as i keep thinking of this movie
It's definitely an improvement over the the 1st Rescuers film
AUSTRALIA!!!!!!
