"Your brain is the most important part on your body...other than your heart and...your skin...and -- anyway..." Just gave me a bit of a laugh. Good video man.
I highly recommend Force Rider jeans, they are cut with a slim fit, dark wash, have kevlar where you need it, CE armor that goes in a pocket on the outside (not a loose inner pouch), and pads for your sides. Very comfortable because they are stretchy. Only $90 on ebay. They appear to be a small company but I was impressed by the quality; I use them every time I ride.
Great advice! Don't make the mistake I did when I got back into riding and buy one jacket and pants to "do it all." Get a summer set of gear and a winter set if you live in a cold/moderate winter climate.
Salutations from EMS in SC. From all the calls I've been on, and from the research I'm reading now in motorcycle accidents, have to protect your extremities and your head. Basically all your joints will take a hit when you fall over, which is why a lot of gear is only CE rated on the elbows and shoulders(most likely strike points). Don't ride without. It ain't worth it. If you can't afford the gear you can't afford to take the fall either. There's lots of relatively cheap gear, some of which is CE rated on sites like Revzilla, fortnine, or bike bandit. Great videos. Subscribed. Stay alert, stay alive.
Nice thing about boots besides the ankle protection is the fact that they'll stay on in an accident. I got in a serious one in shoes and I flew right out of them. Lost the nail on my big toe. Took forever for that thing to grow back and it still looks weird over 2 years later. Funny thing is, I tend to ride spiritedly and always wear gear. Accident happened just talking a short ride around a country block to dry off the bike, after a wash, in preparation for winterizing it. Ya just never know when you'll get bit. One other important bit of safety gear is a right hand rearview mirror. If you have to give one up for style, why that one? At least you can let go of the left bar to do a 180° headcheck. Not such a great idea on the right.
Greetings! I'm a Firefighter in New Jersey and despite all the motorcycle accidents I've been to I will still be picking up my first bike this summer. Great video and tips! Stay safe out there brother.
my son bought some "scorpion covert" pants. full length Kevlar and knee pad pockets and hip as well. I would also add to your boot comment. I would recommend at least boots, if you can get taller ones go for it. ankle is better the sneakers and calf hight is better then ankle. just my 2 cents. good video!
Man thanks for all the information! Especially the tip with the protective jeans and that it needs to be good-looking enough so you would actually wear it. And I always wondered why the boots are so important, thanks for that too!
You're a great human being man, well done. Thank you for your time and effort.. Its worth it! I feel content when I watch your videos, I know I'm going to learn something, be entertained and inspired. You have great taste as well, THUMBS UP & SUBSCRIBED!
Just got into my first accident on Saturday and got lucky. I only broke a few ribs and got banged up. Definitely wear your gear folks! My gear saved me for sure (helmet, jacket, gloves, boots), but I wish I had been wearing spinal protection. My spine hurt like a bitch the next day from rolling and it scares me to think that I easily could be paralyzed right now!
This is very helpful especially for motorcycle newbies like me. I just got my new Honda Click 125 Game Changer and I don't know much about motorcycles. All I do know of though is that the helmet is the most essential and important gear any rider should and must have. I'm looking for more gears that would be most appropriate and suitable to the kind of ride I have. But then I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer and wait til this Corona virus outbreak is over. Thanks for sharing this video. Ride safely! God bless! 😎👌
Just subscribed. Just bought my first bike, a Harley Fat Bob. Really like your videos and they have inspired me to build a Sportster Scrambler one day. Thank you for the videos! Air Force firefighter since 2008 :)
Helmet, a good one w/face shield, rain suit w/rain gloves, leather coat w/leather chaps & HD gloves, steel tip hiking boots and a tool/emergency kit. These are the best things to start with for highway riding.
While steel tipped hiking boots are a good option, it's always better to spend a little extra for riding boots. I broke my ankle because the bike fell on me after a crash. I was wearing a pretty good pair of hiking boots (made with really tough suede and tipped with a polymer that's stronger than steel) but they didn't do shit. If you can't afford a pair of specialised boots, hiking/ work boots are a good alternative.
The statistics on motorcycle injuries show that the vast majority of injuries are below knee and wrist fractures, so spend some money on high boots and good gloves. And obviously a helmet. No point protecting your tibia when you have severe brain damage.
I wear gear based on the environment and duration of the ride. Awareness is key, so if you over protect yourself at the expense of awareness because you're too hot or fatigued or under false security... you're being counter productive. But yeah, the basics, Helmet, gloves, and boots. But besides that... in the city, I chose visibility over armor. SO hi-viz vest, and often no armor or leather. On the highway, I like leather and slide protection (kevlar). Off road, I like armor and impact protection. But awareness is key. I got sandwiched on the highway and exploded my testicle by getting impaled on the steering (or maybe just impact against the gas tank?)... in any case... no amount of gear would have saved my nut. Only more awareness.
when I had my motorcycle accident years ago the first thing that hit the floor was my head luckily I had a full face helmet. I didn't have gloves on and my hand was bare meat because of the asphalt
i am from the future here to say that DOT isn’t a very good standard for helmets. it’s good to have on a helmet but for a quality lid it’s better to also see ECE on there. DOT only checks for straight fall downward impacts and doesn’t account for rotational impact, ECE checks for both and will make that what your head doesn’t get a massive hole is the side when you crash.
thank you exellent advice very protective gear is a must the whole body needs protection and your foots too. i could be a very good motorcycle rider but thats not going to stop some lunatics with the intent to shove me to the ground thanks. Nice video to the point i will fallow this advice or dont ride my bike at all
I'm in the market for a new set of booties with a zip (i'm still rolling boots with laces like a peasant atm haha) and they look brilliant / sturdy. Unfortunately they're not readily available in Australia to try on so I may be gambling a bit with the size
What do u recommend for makeshift armor? Like knee pads/protections and so My mum started to work in her bike but we don't have money to buy expensive protections but I have time and patience
noob question, is there modular motorcyle protection? ( knee pads, elbow pads, back protector, crotch plate, chest plates, but for motorcycles? This way, can add protection gear to any outfit.) Would this style of protection be inefficient in comparison to the usual jackets and airbag vest?
Neck protector Super Motard dirt bike. Chest protector and a solid back protector. Gum shield . Groin protector. Shin protection. Proper Dirt bike boots. Camera rear view placed at back of bike facing other way with display mounted cockpit safety view. Plated bullet proof body armour as used by army police trust me right gear save you 100 hours of operations and may come out unscathed. 😱 Even if riding a 50cc or 1000cc being T boned at a junction has the same injuries or head on with a vehicle.
Fantastic dude , anyway you can put the camera on a stationary location? Lol 😝 cause it gives me a headache and motion sickness looking at your video with your head moving all around ! And that is a sweet pair of looking boots , the helmet looks like a astronaut sold it to you , but pretty cool as well.. hey thanks bro ✌🏻Pearce .
Hey Dan, Im thinking of getting the (Roland Sands Design Tracker Jacket) I know it doesnt come with armors. My qustion is: Do I need to size up if I want to buy all the armors? Thanks love the channel. Cheers
so I'm a pretty short dude, like 5' but I really want to get a motorcycle in the future. most likely a cruiser, but damn researching for protective gears suck when you're short asf. what do ya'll suggest i do? i can only find youth gear for racing lol, is that allowed?
I dont have my motorbike license but I see younger guys riding motorbikes with shorts..singlets and nike air maxes but I never see older more experienced riders dress like that
Good, valid advice for new bikers only? Experienced riders should have these as a minimum. My most cherished piece of gear is a full hi-viz bomber jacket over the protective gear, so that no-one will knock me off saying "sorry, man, I didn't see you". Had a few motorists thank me for making myself as visible as possible. And forget the "style" - this is irrelevant, safety is key.
There are less expensive options. Be patient and wait for sales on Revzilla.com . I bought a jacket for $99, motorcycle jeans for $99, gloves for $50, helmet for $70, and boots from salvation army for $20. Total was only $340. You can also shop for used gear on cragislist. Sometimes, the person selling you their bike will also throw in their old gear, too. I saw on the salvation army website a leather motorcycle jacket for $40.
I think that the amount of gear you wear should be based on your riding style and location. One thing that the internet "safety weenies" never seem to bring up is the fact that there is an inverse relationship between the degree of gear you wear and the probability that you will actually crash or be in an accident. Some other dude putting around on a Grom probably can get by with a helmet, gloves, pants and some good footwear that covers the angle - hell, even just a helmet and gloves are fine most of the time. The risk that comes along with riding is part of the thrill of riding. You can get seriously injured in a car accident, and your chances of being in a car accident are much higher. You could avert most injury you'd sustain in a car accident by installing a roll cage, multi-point harness, wearing a fire suit, helmet and neck brace. DanDanTheFireman lol, I don't pay attention too often, lmao.
Get a helmet , get a quality jacket😂😂 sound like a promotion videos
Leather Jacket or vest. That is what a biker should wear. Leather is protective armour.

Way to expensive... for a 16 years old student
There are less expensive options. Be patient and wait for sales on Revzilla.com . so you’d rather die and get hurt
knee braces
I think that the amount of gear you wear should be based on your riding style and location. If you do get in an accident you are 28 times more likely to die on a motorcycle, but stay cool by all means necessary
Do not fit my style - the most stupid statement about safety what I heard in 2019. Honestly.
Yawn
Your a good little boy, but your afraid to die and you are boring
Salutations from EMS in SC.
From all the calls I've been on, and from the research I'm reading now in motorcycle accidents, have to protect your extremities and your head. Basically all your joints will take a hit when you fall over, which is why a lot of gear is only CE rated on the elbows and shoulders(most likely strike points).
Don't ride without. It ain't worth it. If you can't afford the gear you can't afford to take the fall either.
There's lots of relatively cheap gear, some of which is CE rated on sites like Revzilla, fortnine, or bike bandit.
